Great daily trainer/tempo shoe with very similar fit as Vanish Carbon, with arguably a better collar and tongue. The new shape to Altra hits the mark, slim around heel and mid sole, cushion, but plenty of room in the toe box. No toe friction, no blisters. Great shoeCongrats

These things propel you forward! The bounce takes the load off on downhills. Great shoe. One of my favorites in a long time. ONE GRIPE: I have to double knot these things. The laces are too slippery and short!

Shoe is very bouncy, highly cushioned and stable. Does not need the plate for it to be a stable and snappy ride, and I prefer it that way. The rocker makes turnover much faster compared to other Altras. It's not as easy to run slow in these as other Altras but it is possible. Fits short unfortunately but upper is flexible so you can lock it tight. Curious to see how the shoe feels with much more miles on it. 4 star cuz its short. Overall would highly recommend

I've been running for 15 years. I am about 230 lbs and finding the right balance between cushion and responsiveness in a shoe has been a challenge. Not anymore. These shoes provide a smooth ride with tons of performance--all with ample space in the toebox for toes to splay.
I was nervous at first because I also own the Lone Peak 7s and thought they were way too narrow, despite being a wider footshape than these, but I find the Vanish Tempos to be much wider and more comfortable in the toe box, despite the "narrow" footshape. I will absolutely buy these again.

Please Altra, keep this model in production. Simply the most comfortable for long run at fast pace. I don't understand why this model is not sold everywhere in Canada and why it's not more popular amongs Altra users. Fast feeling combined with perfect shoe balance - the ride is really joyful and it performed so well. Level of cushioning is perfect for high mileage training while providing excellent ride sensation.

I'm a new runner with mild PTTD. I mostly wear the Vanish Tempo for track workouts and tempo runs. They pair well with my Currex orthotics. I'd buy again.

Just used these for my first marathon. Put about 30 miles on them, then put them on the shelf until race day. They are awesome! After the race, I had no blisters or sore feet or ankles. Highly recommend!

Toe box doesn't feel as open as the Altra Lone Peak trail shoe but feels great. Only 50 miles on them so far and handles asphalt like a boss. No tendonitis with these shoes and cushion feels amazing. Ramp rate is nice and not a lot of toe spring. Love these.

I got this shoe to use as a tempo / workout shoe and it is exactly what I needed. Great cushioning and responsiveness. Bought another when they went on sale!

After alternating between these shoes and different shoe for training, I was able to run my first marathon in these shoes. After finishing, my feet were the only thing that didn't hurt. 5 stars.

WOW! I mostly run in Escalante & Esc Racers. I tried these today with no plan to run fast, and I had my fastest run in well over 3 years out of no where. They just seemed to propel me along. Amazing!

I'm a reasonably fast runner. Paces below 7/min mile for long efforts. Very light and comfortable. I got about 250miles out of my last pair before they started to feel a little flat. Buying more.

These were my first foray into a tempo/race shoe and wow. Got used to the rocker feel over a couple of tempo runs and then they were fantastic for a successful half marathon race. Need more!

True to size and width but on the snug side. First run in a while tonight and these are fast and propel you forward. Can't wait to get some good road mileage on these. Tonight's run was fast and furious, hitting a sub 6 mile pace for a bit (which is hard for me).

I wear a 12 and I ordered a 12.5. it was a perfect fit. I had the Olympus 2 and I really like them but these are way better. I have used Glycerin 20 and Hoka Mach 5. I definitely run faster in these and the support and cushion is perfect. I was nervous because the Olympus 2 have so much cushion but there is no loss of comfort in these! Ordering a second pair to run a half marathon in the summer.

Altra's have been my go to for trail shoes, but I've struggled to find road shoes I love. I've tried Escalante, Paradigm, and Torin through the years, but ended up choosing other brands. The Vanish Tempo has been the first pair I've fell in love with. Of course I prefer zero drop and a wide toe box, but also these are light, stretchy, breathable, enough cushion, and durable enough for long runs on rough country roads. The heel cup is tight without blistering. The tongue stays put and the laces hold tight. I run 40-50 miles/week at a variety of paces and weekly long run is 20 miles. These shoes work for all of it. I rotate between three pairs and will buy more to stash away.

Great shoe. Feels not a 1/2 but 1/4 size small from any other altra I've tried. I was hoping the Vanisher 2 carbon would be my marathon dream shoe but I returned to this tried and true optino for race day because the heel counter is so much better.

This shoe fits my foot perfectly! Love the slotted lace holes! Color scheme is beautiful. Heftier than the Ego Pro but still very light and firm. Please send me more offers. Great shoe! Keep it up!

As a decade long Torin runner I like to try all of the Altra shoes released in the same category. This shoe is by far the best I've tried, and I even like it more than the Torin.

Feel best when you push the pace but good for easy runs too. Very comfy. Nice and light. Good cushion you can feel.

I have an average width foot, size 11, and these fit exactly as I would hope. Vanish Tempo are part of the "Slim Footshape" line of Altra.
PSA: It took me a minute to figure out that I need to start at "Footshape Fit" page and then find shoes matching my foot, rather than looking at one of the shoe pages and try to figure out what foot shape it is. "Original Footshape" like Lone Peak are way too wide for me. "Standard Footshape" are ok, but still a bit wider than I would like: "Slim Footshape" is my Goldilocks. They still have a properly contoured toe box, none of the pointy toe shapes that you see on other shoes. Just enough wiggle room, but also a closely contoured fit with no slop.
I mention all of this because there are several very negative reviews where someone with a wide foot purchased a narrow shoe. That is not a reflection on the shoe itself, just the wrong fit. But, I think that Altra could make it a bit easier for folks to understand what they are purchasing before they buy; each shoe product page should clearly indicate what footshape it's for (maybe I'm just missing it, but I swear I looked more than once).
Anyway, these shoes are very light, the perfect amount of cushion, and I've come to really enjoy the rocker forefoot for running. I would not wear these for walking around town or hiking due to the rocker which feels a bit strange when walking, I use them only for running.
Love the zero drop, thank you Altra for making so many different kinds of shoes with zero drop, and the very thoughtful approach to fitting different foot shapes!!

Replaced my escalante racer with these with a road half marathon coming up. I really like the Vanish Tempo - very comfortable on short and long training runs.

I don't run exclusively in Altras but I always have 2-3 pairs in the rotation at any given time. I'm absolutely loving these, so much so that after my first run in them I ordered a second pair. They work very well for my foot shape, I don't find the slimmer profile an issue. They're not lone peak wide but that is OK with me. They fit true to size. I've put 70ish miles on my first pair and another 20ish on my second so I haven't done enough to speak for their durability. But I do plan on racing them in an upcoming race that's split between gravel and paved roads. I think they'll be the perfect fit for that.
