Had a pair of Salomons before with PROPER LACES!! Was forced to have the new type with this pull cord system which I hate as no other option was available. Will be trying to find another brand for my next pair with proper laces

My entire adult life I've worn 7.5 in shoes and boots. This pair is both too long, too wide, and unreturnable. I've added an extra set of insoles and have to cinch up the laces as far as they go. Unfortunately, the laces keeps sliding because they're slippery and the cinch doesn't hold. Otherwise they're pretty comfortable.

I was excited to get these, as I loved my 5 year old pair of Salomons. I'm usually a size 6 that is a European 36 or 36.5. These are a 37+. Interestingly, although they were too long in the foot, the lacing system made them feel comfortably snug on my foot. I have a moderately wide foot with a very high instep and the shoe was comfortable in all those places. The problem was the arch support. I need a good arch support but this one started too far back in the shoe for my foot, so it felt like I was walking on a bump under part of my foot. This could be a "me" thing, I think, though, as I have had the issue before in shoes that were a 36 or 36.5, too. I'm detailing it here in case others might have the same issue! Sadly, I had to return them a week ago. Still waiting for my refund.

Bought these in my regular size (7) but they seem to run a little big! Comfy & just what I wanted

I use these for winter hiking. They are comfortable but unfortunately the straps loosen and I constantly have to keep tightening them every couple of steps.

First time I have bought Salomon's. Curious to try as usually receive good online reviews. The fit was incredibly narrow - much more narrow than any of my previous walking shoes - and I ended up with multiple blisters. Returning and am going to try the wider version. Grip in wet was very good compared to previous shoes I have owned.

The shoes would be more comfy if they fit to size, if I bought them again would prob get a 6.5 instead of 7.5.

Too narrow and too long. Hard to get the foot in and my feet are normal size.

I have had loads of Solomon walking shoes. I find them very comfortable and water resistant. However with this pair the tongue is too short which makes it difficult to put them on. They are not at all water resistant as just walking in short wet grass got my feet soaked. I am disappointed as have loved my past Solomon shoes. I need to buy some other more waterproof shoes for walking and resent having to spend more money when I thought these were my go to hiking shoes.

Absolutely love the fit of this shoe as well as how I am not sore after hiking a 10+ mile day. I am a little bummed that I have had them just over a year (they are also not my only hiking shoe) and I already have a couple of holes in them with plenty of tread life left.

A lovely shoe and good broad fit. After one summer walk the pale blue got dirty really easily and was difficult to wash off. If you want them to look good be prepared to wash them regularly! Not a great colour for trail walking more of a fashion shoe on pavements.

I sized down, per recommendations, and had to return because they were too small. The reorder process was easy, however, delayed my having the right shoes at the right time. I have had to spend more time than expected trying to break them in as well. They are incredibly stiff and inflexible. Honestly, I'm packing my old shoes for an upcoming trip as I don't believe these are going to be comfortable.

I read the reviews on this shoe and didn't order my prior size 9 - which I have always done without issue. I ordered a size 8 and it is tight with normal socks. With a hiking sock, they are extremely small. I have to go through the effort to return and purchase another pair in an 8.5 and hope for the best.

Very comfortable shoes. Downside is that the tongue moves out of place and it is difficult to pull it back into place.

I've walked 100 miles in these shoes and surprised the footbed isn't more comfortable. Over longer distances the transition between insole and shoe is noticeable . I'm in the wide fitting and my foot width isn't unusually wide.. it's just not narrow. I have quality socks from Brasher too. It's a shame. I was wanting to do some all day treks but I don't think the shoes will permit it due to the lack of comfort . Previous purchase of other brand of quality shoe was supremely comfy . (Style not avaliable) On short .. a hard interior , nice styling but disappointing . Not tested for waterproofing qualities yet.

The shoe seemed comfortable but the lacing system is not for me. I couldn't get the laces tight enough. Why mess with something that works? Regular shoe laces are 100 % customizable! The lacing system is not good. And what if it breaks?

First pair of Salomon's I bought was in 2020. Unbelievably comfortable but not cute. I still wear them but there's a small rip in the mesh and one of the laces is about to break (after 4 years I'd say that's a good shoe!). Now these are cute but NOT comfortable. I'm always a women's size 7. These basically latch onto your foot (with the new laces) and leave your toes and heels hangin. The insoles are NOT comfortable. Not sure if you'll last hiking in these for long? Unless you have a higher ankle bone? It's already digging into my inner ankle bone after 2 hours. In addition, I doubt I will get 4 years out of these shoes. SO disappointed! Why did you remove the comfort and quality?!!!

I purchased the X Ultra 4 Gore-Tex shoes in July last year, and overall, I was satisfied with their quality and comfort. They provided a comfortable fit, allowing me to walk a considerable distance of about 150 kilometers. However, I encountered a significant issue: the shoes started to tear on both sides, resulting in them losing their waterproof feature. To my disappointment, I found that many other customers have experienced the same problem with this model, as indicated by various reviews. Considering the price point and the reputation of the Salomon brand, I expected the shoes to maintain their quality and durability.

I only had this option because I need a wide shoe. I used these for hiking and walking on mixed surfaces of trails and roadsides on a 150 mile trek in Norway this summer. I feel like they shouldve lasted a little longer. The tread is worn out on the ball of the foot area, the fabric is falling apart in the backs and they are already worn out.

I bought the X Ultra and it bothers my feet and my heels . I can't wear them for more than an hour because the pain is uncomfortable. I tried this time to buy a different model and it did not go well. I prefer the ones I've always had: XA Pro

I've worn nothing but salomon shoes for hiking for 30+ years. When my x-ultra gtx shoes gave up the ghost I didn't shop around, I ordered these. Only they've been "improved". The laces pattern on the new model has shifted higher on the foot. In consequence, the lace doesn't come over the toes anymore, so the shoes fold and cut right where my toes meet my feet. Ouch. At the top, the higher lacing reduces the opening and makes it harder to slip in my foot, especially as I have high arches... a longer lace might have helped. The rear of the shoe is lower than it used to be and the mushy fabric offers no support, so watch those ankles on the downhill. The ortholite foot bed is still perfect for high arches; and they are still true to size, though a little tighter at the base of the toes. All in all, poor design and fit; the materials feel cheaper than the previous generation but I can't comment on durability as I am returning these. I now have to look for my perfect hiking shoe elsewhere :(

My fianc bought these for me a year ago to have a good all weather hiking shoe but these run too big and honestly not comfortable in all the travels we've done. I prefer my Sorel (cold terrain) or Merrill (wet terrain) over these. My foot measures 10" and the order size says 9! I've always worn 8-8.5 depending on brand, we ordered 8.5 which was too big and the 8 in return feels like 9-9.5 with heel slipping and the tongue always slides to side. I highly recommend trying these on in store before buying to avoid the back & forth. I've only worn these because I feel bad for how much he spent. He likes his shoes but they're an older model. I'm currently looking for an all weather high top version for Iceland, we'll see what I find. 2 stars for durability, style and somewhat waterproof.

I am so disappointed by this model of X Utra series. I have always loved my Solomons and walk for miles in them daily. But the tongs keep slipping to the side causing discomfort and it makes the unlacing difficult. I had them as my last ones leaked after only a year. I really cannot wear them much longer and they are only a few months old.
