Super comfortable, with good traction. I would normally give this shoe 5 stars, but the soles wore down FAST (black soles)! I bought my first pair last spring, and the soles lasted about 250 to 300 miles? The uppers still look great, but I can't wear them anymore because the traction is completely gone. Just purchased another pair with white soles. Maybe they will last a bit longer?

I love these shoes for slick rocks and mixed terrain. The soles are a bit stiff when I hit any road, but I dont seem to notice the stiffness at all when Im on gravel or trail. I wear a wide shoe and I wish they wouldnt make their only wide color available PURPLE. A neutral would be nice if its going to be limited colors.

I have bought these direct as well as through REI. As they are on sale, I plan on purchasing another one or two pairs to have ready-to-go because I love them so much. Very light weight and comfortable. The toe box is roomier which I like and have learned is better for our feet.
Why 4 stars and not 5?
As another reviewer has stated, the sole wears out very very quickly!
I hope Solomon takes note and makes the sole sturdier - otherwise, I love them.

The only problem is that the tongue of the shoe turns sideways once walking and there is no way to keep it in the center!

Im on my fourth pair of this shoe, which I absolutely love. But this version has the writing across the top of the shoe.
Why? Who made that terrible decision? Who okayed that terrible decision? That writing across the top of the shoe makes the shoe look Kmart-y. Please cease with scrawling the name of the shoe across the top. We know what we are buying.
Thank you

I reside on Catalina Island and hike and/or trail run 2-3 times per week. Terrain is steep, very hard on feet, and very "sloppy", rock slides. Grip is amazing. During winter months terrain is very muddy and slippery. Great grip in mud and sheds the mud very well. Also held up very well in Zion and Bryce through snowy, icy, and muddy trails. These are my 4th pair. Changing out every year. No break in period needed for me. Super light. Only complaint are how fast the lugs grind down even on non-paved trails. Would love reinforced lugs.

This is my 5th pair. Great features: stiff and protective sole, some kind of magic in the insole; excellent last, and the arch hits in the right spot; speed laces plus little place to tuck them; not too heavy; toe box ok for wider feet; true to size. I wear these for walking/hikingat least 30 miles a week, mostly but not entirely on trails (dirt, scrub, grass). The sole has a reasonable lifespan; upper is surprisingly tough and on every pair has outlasted the sole. I dont care for the puce color of the womensbut got it dirty enough right away that I dont mind.

I've been using Salomon Speedcross since its 2nd version - more than a decade. We are on the 6th now. What a downgrade on Salomon's part! Not just in the shoe fabric. The fit is HORRIBLE; wide, wide, wide! Too wide!
The 6th edition, supposedly made for normal feet, is way too wide - my feet float in these shoes uncomfortably, which is a dangerous fit for running. I tightened the laces to adjust the fit - the fabric crinkles on top of the shoe (see pic), I get blisters. I compared these with Speedcross 3, which I still have. Speedcross 3 fit so well. Speedcross 6 - wide, not suitable for normal feet. What a terrible downgrade on Salomon's part. I used to love these shoes. (It makes me wonder how wide are their wide shoes nowadays). I went through many of these Speedcross shoes (easily 4 pairs/year) - it didn't bother me they wore off fast; I care about my feet (proper fit and comfort). After using Salomon's Speedcross for more than a decade now, I started checking other brands/makers - these are no longer for my feet. Too wide.

I have owned two pairs of Salomon womens trail running shoes. Neither lasted more than a year. Both pairs formed big holes in them after 4 months of use and the shoelaces broke on both pairs after 10 months use. After asking Salomon for a refund they denied me. I will never buy from Salomon again.

I bought Speedcross 5 and now 6 at 9 month intervals, but not for trail running nor for use in the great outdoors. I love them because my feet feel amazing and resilient in them while working for 9 hours a day, 5 days a week on concrete flooring. I log over 12,000 steps a day at work and these shoes provide my feet with excellent traction and comfort all day, every day. Between lifting merchandise, pivoting quickly, or pushing and pulling freight carts that can weigh upwards of 800 pounds - its my Speedcross 6 shoes I rely on to energize my feet and legs all day. Wouldnt want to work without them. The fact that the colors are bright and crisp ~ well, thats just a happy bonus!

I wear nothing but Salomons but recently Ive noticed the heel wedge has been cut narrower, which reduces stability. Some styles still have it, but all styles used to. They need to bring it back and add single colors for women. Less gaudy, more heel!

I bought these Speedcross 6 shoes to replace an earlier version that I had. These are the same comfort - lightweight and has arch support . The color is better in person but yet not my ideal color.

I have a similar pair that I bought about a year ago and this midel is now my go-to. I hike every day with my dogs and love the fit and the traction. I bought my usual 7.5 size (I am a 7 in regular shoes) and these feel a tiny bit smaller than my last pair. Different factory so its possible? Nonetheless, my Salomons keep me safe and confident on trails and muddy surfaces.

I bought my third pair a few weeks ago, and they fit and feel wonderful. They are designed to fit well and they never look old.
My 2nd pair had a small tear on the fabric section, and that was the only reason I retired them. I pinned them on my Pinterest acct too

This is my 5th pair of these shoes. Love them. I wear them hiking and trail running. They have excellent grip but are not too chunky or bulky. Lighter than Merrels in my opinion and more comfy to wear for long periods.
My one complaint is that the tongue often slides outward and I have to re cinch then pull strap a few times when I start a hike.
Otherwise , they are comfy and study and come in great colors.

I received these as a warranty replacement. There was a problem with a different pair of Salomon boots that I purchased and Salomon honored their warranty and replaced them at no cost. I couldn't be more happy with my experience. These shoes are my favorite. I've bought more than 10 pairs of Salomon Speedcross. They're comfortable out of the box!

Love these shoes! They fit right out of the box, no break in time needed. Theyre cute and I love the color. I dont run in mud but I do errands and stuff in bad weather. The traction on the shoes is excellent. Salomon, please make more shoes in wide width!

I use these on trails through oak, madrone and redwoods. The trails are up and down and switchbacks. These shoes have the best traction and they immediately adapt to any surface. They also are truly wide so perfect for me.

I wanted to love the new version of the speed crosses, but they made them too wide and changed the fabric to be less structured. My foot slips around too much, cant run mountains with that type of movement in my shoe. Tried a half size down but were still too wide.

I got these for my wife and she said the shoe is extremely light and comfortable and that is why I am choosing to buy another pair. The grip is amazing and does a great job not getting to much mud stuck to them. The only downside she had with these was that after about the 3rd time using them the front lip started peeling off. I've been been meaning to use some type of glue to see if if will stick back together for good but have yet to try it. This is why I said it's almost the perfect trail running shoe. I also have the same pair in the male version and mine are perfect with no issues.

The sales representative recommended this as a substitute for Pathfinder that I enjoyed for many years. Fitting is very similar to Pathfinder and they are very comfortable.I like the grippy sole, and the shoe lace is easy to adjust and stays tight. I hope they will have more colors for the wide size version.
