Unless you have the opportunity to visit the shops in Ireland, this is the sine qua non of fisherman's sweaters. I can't afford many luxuries, and this is a luxury - but I had a few extra bucks and this is not the type of item you will ever find on sale, for less on eBay, or discounted at any department store. It is heavy but breathes, it's not scratchy or a "sweaty" piece (well, maybe in Key West), the quality is exceptional, and the fit is perfect.

I ordered this sweater in navy and love the classic look. It fits perfectly - I am a size medium. It's a little longer (hence tunic) than normal, but looks good. It's comfy and warm.

Very nice sweater--chunky knit looks great, and the tunic length is sharp with slim pants.

this is the perfect sweater. the shape, the way it hangs--it's perfect. it is the sweater i have been looking for forever. i have it in black. it's gorgeous. now i need you to make it in wool, please, as well as cotton. if you do, and offer it in various colors, i'm good for at least 5 of them. no joke. maybe other slight variations in style, too--like a v-neck notch and a hood? how about a thumb hole in the sleeve? in some good, non-stain-showing colors... heathery, perhaps? dark gray, definitely. mossy green. dark heathery navy. heather rose quartz. something wheaty... please! and thank you.

Love this sweater! I bought the black and it is a nice classic piece. Cotton makes it so comfy. I am 5'6, 135# , 32C bust, and I ended up buying the XS. My usual size small was too big in this sweater. I highly recommend!!!

Weight, length, fabric, cut, this sweater is perfect. This is a great sweater for leggings and jeans. It can be worn over a shirt for added warmth, but it is really fine on its own. I was concerned about the side zippers, but actually those balance the sweater as a lite weight and avoids the sweater from becoming stretched out while wearing it through the day. Love it. I have the wine color and I also have the auburn color. Love to see this in a nice forest green.

I have been looking for 5 years for a winter white cotton tunic sweater. I received mine today and it is exactly what I was looking for. The cotton cabling is beautiful and soft. The fit is just the way I wanted it to fit. You can't go wrong with this purchase.

This sweater is an ideal classic piece to add to your wardrobe. It is long enough without being too long. I really like the larger neck, it looks good and is good for layering. The texture is a little scratchy, which I didn't expect from cotton, but I bet that will go away with more wear and washing. I normally wear an XL but based on other recommendations, I purchased a L and it fits great. I really like the little zippers on the side.

Lovely heavy weight sweater. I love the length and the little zippers on either side. This one is definitely a keeper.

I read the mixed reviews but I'm addicted to white and beige sweaters and took the chance. So happy i ordered it. I love it! My new favorite Sweater. Heavy cotton. Love the curved hem. I agree that the neck is bigger than any other sweater I own, but it's perfect with a scarf. I noted that we order ocassionally from LL Bean. Honestly, the quality is so great, we have no need to order often. Been wearing LL Bean for over 30 Years.

I did have to size down - it runs large for a signature item. This sweater has a terrific silhouette for a tall person and the arms are long enough for me at 5'10". Even the medium! It's the kind of product that you plan to have only one of but I will need two.

First off, thank you LL Bean for having an impeccable mail order service. From ordering, to tracking to receiving, the whole process was seamless, accurate, and easy - especially since it went north of the border. Thank you. Second - and most important - this sweater is perfection!!!! I read every single review before buying this, and so here are answers to some of the common concerns: Do you really need to size down? YES! But only by one size. For reference, 5'5, 125 lbs, usually wear a small. So I ordered the XS and it's perfect! Is the neck wide? It's between a boatneck and a crew, but definitely NOT a crew! Which for a small frame is perfect since it doesn't add bulk. Is the cotton soft? It's not silky smooth - it's a beautiful natural cotton, multiply which makes it strong and durable. It will definitely soften with each wash. Are the arms narrow? They're slim, not fitted. Is it long? It says 'tunic' but I wouldn't wear it with leggings, it just covers the rear. Styling? This would look good with literally everything. And it can be worn on it's own or over something. Over a denim shirt like in the picture is just so chic. If you're looking for a fisherman sweater, and don't want the overly bulky, too hot-wool, insanely expensive Aran sweaters, then this is the sweater for you. I can't praise this sweater enough. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! My new fav!

The mixed reviews on this almost kept me from ordering, but I'm glad I did anyway. Some people said that the neck is too large; I get cold in the winter (duh) so I wear a tee shirt under sweaters like this, and/or a scarf. Problem solved, assuming there was one. I don't find the neck too large. It has to be made this way, because the sweater is thick and heavy and it would be hard to get your head through a smaller hole. Just sayin'. As to the length, I am 5'5" and 135 lbs. and the length was adequate for leggings, if you know what I mean. As to the naysayers who don't like the laundry instructions: I wash in a mesh bag in the washing machine on cold water. I could dry on a drying rack, but I experimented with hanging it on a humongous padded hanger; I believe the weight of the garment actually gave me an extra inch while drying. The bottom line is, this is a beautiful sweater you will not see elsewhere, it's very well-made, and you will look great in it while being warm at the same time. It doesn't get any better than that, folks.

This is an absolutely gorgeous sweater. Thick, feminine, well-made. Well worth the price! I am usually a small, but ordered x-small based on reviews and it is perfect. I could have even ordered an xx-small, but the x-small is nicely loose and roomy without looking at all dumpy.

This is a beautiful sweater. Be prepared for many compliments. It is as pictured, heavy cotton fabric, lovely color, wider boat neck and longer length. Perfect alternative to a more casual wool Irish knit. So happy with this purchase.

This is exactly what I had hoped for. A thick, well made sweater in a tunic-style. Easily covers my bottom and looks fantastic with leggings. The zippers on the bottom sides add an interesting detail, as well as provide a little flexibility if you are blessed in that area. I washed it on a delicate cycle and dried flat, worked beautifully. No shrinkage, still fits well, no damage to sweater. Lots of compliments received!

I really look forward to wearing this sweater each cold season - it's heavy, warm, great quality, and the pattern is both lovely and unique - not like the streamlined cable-knit sweater you'll find at department stores. The pattern alternates in a very flattering way. I got the mountain spruce color from the previous year, and I'm sooo glad I chose one from that collection because not only was the pattern beautiful, it was also woven in two shades to give the pattern more stunning definition if that style comes out in the future I wouldn't hesitate to get one in another color! It looks really chic with skinny jeans and equestrian boots. I'm 5'4", avg 130lbs and the XS fits me nicely. I have a slightly longer torso, leaning towards an hourglass-pear body type, and the sweater sides fall to the top of my jean front pockets and the front scoops down to about an inch from my inseam. For care, I put it in a separate mesh laundry bag with my color wash and hang dry to keep it nice. I wear it with an undershirt to limit how often it needs to be washed.old school and practical.

I have been searching for this sweater for awhile now! I finally found it today at the Llbean outlet. I absolutely love it, perfect length for leggings and covers the bum nicely! I got a medium which is perfect to be able to layer if needed! (It does seems to run a little big) nice addition to my wardrobe for this winter!

I bought this for my daughter for Christmas, and she absolutely loved it! She put it on right away, and it looked great on her. My other daughter went online the same day and ordered one for herself. The sizes do run a bit big; my daughter took one size down from what she usually gets and it fit her perfectly.
