I have had a million compliments on this sweater! I like that it's a little long because it looks super cute with my ripped skinny jeans. Love the side zippers! Cute touch. Best sweater I've ever bought! Classic! Love it so much I ordered the blackish grey as well! Can't wait to get it! This is the only sweater I need all winter here in Minnesota.

A traditional fisherman knit sweater that's comfortable against the skin. It's true to size. It holds up well in wash and is quickly becoming a staple in my everyday wear. Very glad to have purchased this.

I have been looking at this sweater for weeks and I think I read every single review before deciding to purchase it. I am so glad I did! I truly love it and have received many compliments whenever I wear it. I can't wear wool so was thrilled to find such a beautiful sweater in cotton. It is a bit heavy as other reviewers have noted but it is beautiful and high quality. The neckline is wider than a crewneck, as pictured, but looks perfect on and the side zips are a great detail. My only negative comment is that I wish I hadn't listened to so many of the reviews and sized down. The sweater fits me but I think I would have been better with my normal size. The body is roomy but the sleeves seem more fitted. Nonetheless, I still love this sweater and am happy with my purchase. I ordered in the cream and would buy another if there were more colors to choose from.

The reviews weren't clear on size so I ordered the XS and S. At 5'4", 125lbs, I kept the XS. The S fit but the look wasn't as polished as I was looking for. The XS definitely was the look I wanted that made me feel more put together, but not tight. Looks great with jeans, leggings, boots, flats, etc. Glad I finally ordered it!

I read many reviews on this that suggested to size up and also chatted with an online LL Bean employee who also suggested going with the larger size. I wish I didn't listen! I went to my local LL Bean store to exchange the sweater for a small and a different color, the cream color was more of a pure white than a cream.
Size small fits me fine (5'2'' 140 lbs) and I lucked out and got the black cherry color. It is still pretty loose and tunic length. I also disagree with the reviews about a huge neckline. It has a boatneck shaped neckline, but it is by no means stretched out or loose. I'm wearing the sweater for the first time today and love the look and feel. The knit is a little open in the horizontal stitches, so I am wearing a tank underneath. Overall, go with your regular size! It is a great sweater and I'm so happy I bought it for myself!

This is a beautiful sweater. I have it in Black Slate. It is so comfortable and warm, and the neckline is very flattering. When I posted the picture below on a cat-lovers Facebook page, I got compliments on the sweater as well as the cat! (Unfortunately, LLBean seems to be showing the picture in landscape rather than portrait mode.)

This is a beautifully made sweater. Quality that will last for years and years. I originally bought the beige but did not love the color which is unusual for me as I love natural colors. I exchanged it for the black cherry color and it is absolutely beautiful. I usually wear a M, but following the reviewers advice and sized down to a S and for both sweaters, both fit perfect. Now I will say that the softness factor was more prevalent in the beige, the cherry seems a little more stiff but I'm sure it will soften on its own w/time and wear. So pleased with it, please make in lots more colors!!

This sweater is quite beautiful; it is somewhat weighty, but still comfortable, as it is obviously made from heavier, high-quality cotton yarn. I received compliments the first day I wore it.

I have quite a few cream cable/fishermen's knit sweaters and this is my new favorite. I followed recommendations and ordered a medium ( I generally order a large) and I'm glad I did because of the neckline and fit. I always dress in layers and this one works with anything from a tank to a turtleneck under it. Perfect length for skinny pants and the zippers are a wonderful touch. It's my go to winter sweater!!

This fisherman's sweater was exactly what my daughter was hoping for as a gift. It's timeless and fits beautifully. The side zippers add style to it. The cotton fabric is comfortable against your skin, providing warm with no itchy feeling. A keeper!

I have wanted a sweater like this for a long time. I was so excited to find it online. After reading the reviews, I decided to size down and ordered an XS. I'm 5'3" with a 28" waist and 36" hips. It is a great fit - still pretty loose but in a good way. I love the color and weight. Perfect!

This is an excellent sweater. The length is perfect - it always seems like "falls at hip" is too short on me, so this length was just right without being too long. It is well made and thick, so it has some weight. It's not super-soft, but is not uncomfortable to wear with a tee or cami underneath. As others have said, it does run large. I'm 5'4" and 135 lbs, and the XS fit perfectly - the body length & sleeve length is spot-on. I can keep the side-zippers closed and it is not too tight. I did not have neck-width issues like others have reported, it fits here as it should. I ordered the dark red/cherry color.

I kept coming back to look at this sweater so many times before purchasing - I'm so glad I have it now, I only wish I hadn't waited so long! The knit pattern is beautiful, the weight of the thread is heavy, but because it's cotton, it breathes - perfect for 3 seasons. I have the black cherry color and it is lovely. I like how the sweater doesn't get stretched out and lose its shape after wearing it all day. This style runs large - I am typically a size large and had to exchange the large for a medium, which still has extra room for me, but the fit is just gorgeous - I am definitely considering purchasing in another color!

This sweater was surprisingly really solid...not super soft, but not uncomfortable. Just really well made. I love the zipper details too! I bought an XS after reading other reviews about how big the fit is...I'm 5'7" and 27" waist and I think the XS is great. Still an "oversize" fit in the body like it's designed to be, but not over-doing it. I bought the Black, and coming back for the cream!

This is delayed, as I bought this sweater last Dec. Unfortunately, it was back ordered and I didn't get it until this spring. I have worn it a handful of times this fall and now this winter. I have to say, it looks and wears wonderfully. Also, it is thick, sturdy. I think you will really have to launder it carefully, or just have it dry cleaned. I am doing my best to keep it stain free. I get many compliments on it. I have it in the navy heathered too, but I feel like this is so much more versatile. A must have for your winter wardrobe. Runs pretty TTS. I am a small, sometimes a medium and I took a small. I didn't want it to look sloppy.

I have wanted this sweater for years, and I finally ordered it. I love it! The weight of the sweater is great for winters in MN and the overall fit is very nice. It does run really large. I'm 5'8", 160 lbs., and I wear a medium or large. I originally ordered the medium and returned it for a small. With the small, I still have a relaxed fit. The neck opening is rather large, but I found it shrunk a little the first time I washed the sweater in the washing machine. The sweater held up very nice after washing - there was a little bit of overall shrinkage, but it honestly just made the sweater fit a little better.

Very well made (good quality cotton with good weight; well finished stitching). Love the cable design all over and the side zipper detail.
I just received it and haven't washed it yet, so I cannot comment about durability, but if taken care of properly, I can see that this will last for years.
The neck opening is a bit large; it's not a closed crew neck, so you'll need a scarf on colder days.
As for size, I think the manufacturer messed up on the labels. I ordered a medium (I've ordered medium from LL Bean before, which is comparable to a medium at the Gap, Old Navy, or Lands End) and it was huge. It was much too long and baggy (it looked like I was wearing a dress). I have long arms and the sleeves reached mid-palm. I exchanged it for a small and the small fits more correctly (I am just over 5-feet-6-inches, 140 pounds); the sleeves end at my wrists and the sweater sits below my hips/covers my derriere.

Really nice sweater that is quite substantial in weight. It will definitely keep me warm during the North Dakota winters! I purchased the black version and sized up to wear as a tunic because I am petite.

This is a great sweater - runs a little large, so I definitely recommend sizing down a size or two. I am 5'8" and typically a small and ordered the XS based on other reviews... it's a nice and roomy fit with some room to spare. The neck hole on this is quite large as one user pointed out and if you don't wear an undershirt of some kind, you'll have some exposed skin around your neck and shoulders. While it can be chilly, I don't mind it and threw a scarf around my neck upon wearing this the first time in my always frigid office environment. If this bugs you and you're looking for extra warmth around your neck, I'd recommend the traditional Fisherman Sweater option. Otherwise, highly recommend this as a fall/winter staple that goes great with jeans, chords, and leggings.

I had admired this sweater for a while, but as the price of the sweater is a bit steep for me, I waited for a sale and am glad I finally purchased it! I initially ordered a large as I am 5'7" and weigh 165lbs. But the large was far too roomy not only in the body, but also the arms, and was unflattering. I exchanged for a medium, more fitted in the arms (which I prefer) and still roomy in the body. The material is fairly heavy, and seems very sturdy. Although very warm, the cotton breathes (a must for me). The sweater is not soft, and yet I would not say it is scratchy either. I am comfortable with just a tank top underneath. I absolutely love the length and the side zippers. I have worn the sweater with skinny jeans and leggings. The only negative to my thinking is the neckline. I think a plain crewneck or even possibly a v neck would be more flattering. I solve this by wearing a scarf. (I noticed other reviewers mentioned this as well.) The color (cherry) is beautiful. My 4 year old son smiles and says how pretty I look every time he sees me in it! If I didn't already love it, that would have sold me on it!

I just received this sweater today. I got it during a 25% off promotion, which I was thrilled about. The quality seems great and it's exactly what I was looking for--a VERY warm sweater for the upcoming winter. I only had it on for a moment to try on, and it was clear that it would keep me toasty. Please note (as others have) that this sweater runs very large. I wear a 16/18 and am 5'7 and the large fit me just fine. It was a little more on the fitted side, but definitely still room for layering a blouse underneath. The length was also still nice and long, so I'd recommend sizing down. Looking forward to being able to wear this!
