This is an amazing sweater! Cable knit, beautiful in ivory, not too hot, not too long. I'm of a certain age and can't handle anything that will overheat me. This has been wonderful- a cotton sweater that looks like a wool one. Much softer than wool. Have worn this but not washed yet. I'll wash on cold, and hang to dry.I wouldn't want it to shrink because it is perfect the way it is. Easy to move in, not constricting.Hits me at low hip, just as I prefer.

Love this sweater! It's heavy, so it keeps me warm on long days on the road. I originally ordered a medium, which is what I usually wear, but it was too big. The small fits much better. I still have plenty of room, but it doesn't look like I'm swimming in it, unlike the medium. It's long enough to wear with leggings if I want to.

Beautifully made sweater. Longer than I initially thought but great. Very warm. Love the zippers on the side. Works well with skinny jeans or leggings.

I recently purchased a beige Fisherman's sweater and love it. It's a thick weave and the tunic style is flattering. The 5" zippers on the bottom of either side are a nice detail. It looks great with a pair of true shape jeans or the new slimming jeans. The full outfit is the fisherman's sweater, charcoal slim leg true shape jeans, kelp green ultralight 850 down sweater coat and 6" padded collar Bean boot with the pant leg rolled. I also add an infinity scarf, fingerless gloves and a pendant necklace and earrings. And I feel totally wonderful in this outfit. Thanks Bean!

I love this sweater. It is thick and warm, but not bulky. The workmanship is top quality. I initially ordered an XS but exchanged it for a small. The XS fit, but the small gave me a little more width and length in the body, and I just cuff the sleeves (but they don't seem bulky when cuffed). The hem allows the sweater to cover just enough of my hips for use with leggings but the higher sides keep it from hanging too long over my skirts or jeans. I ordered it in navy and highly recommend it.

For reference I'm 5'2" and 118 lb. I ordered the xx-small based on reviews. I'm normally between a small and an extra small in tops. It was really bulky and stiff out of the box. I soaked it overnight in a sink with two capfuls of fabric softener and cold water. Hung it over the tub a near a space heater to dry.
The sweater drapes very nicely. I love it. I'm so glad I got the xxsmall. The sleeves are long but the hang nicely after softening up.

I snagged this during a sale and got the beige color. It is so lovely! I love that it is 100% cotton - I've been looking more & more for all natural fibers and sweaters that don't have polyester mixed in. This sweater feels really "sturdy" and it has some weight to it - it's not a soft, plush, luxurious sweater, but I honestly kind of like that. It feels like it's going to be the kind of piece that will last me for several years down the road, no snagging or pilling. I can easily imagine this sweater looking exactly the same in 10 years as it does right now!
I'm 5'2 and have a short torso and I was happy with its length - I intended to wear it with leggings and it's a perfect length for that, it covers up most of my butt :) The beige is such a pretty color, it's really more like a "cream" I think. It's a really gorgeous sweater, I've worn it frequently since it's turned cold!

Bought this sweater on a whim thinking it would be as good as the one I had in the early nineties. Welp it's better! More feminine and the zippers can be opened for a peek-a-boo look with an undershirt. It has stretched a bit but that's ok with me due to the LLB issue with torso lengths on their women's shirts. Would've ordered a medium but the shoulder width may not have work as well on me.

I followed some others' recommendations and ordered down one size in this sweater, and it fits perfectly (small vs my regular size, medium). The sweater is long enough to wear over leggings or skinny jeans or looks great with my black pencil skirt and boots. I got the off-white color, which is a lovely pale sand color with a gray undertone and not a yellow undertone as in some fisherman knits. The sweater is heavy, but since it is cotton, does not overheat. I love the zipper detail and the bateau neckline, as I wear a tank or tee underneath and often a scarf, as well. Highly recommend!

Years ago I purchased an Aran Island fisherman's sweater in Ireland. Unfortunately, I developed an allergy to wool, and the sweater triggered my asthma. I am so happy that L.L. Bean is replicating the Aran patterns in cotton sweaters. I purchased this sweater in beige, which I can basically wear with anything. It's a thick-weight cotton in a heavy knit. In New Jersey, we're already experienced temperatures in the high 20s and early 30s. This sweater has been very cozy! Even though my "true size" should be X-Small, I generally purchase size Small because I have a long torso and I usually wear layers under my sweaters. I followed other customers' advice and purchased one size smaller than what I usually get. The sweater fits perfectly. Some customers commented on the neck hole seeming to big; I disagree. The sweater fits as it is displayed in the online photos. I like the wider neck hole because I wear this sweater comfortably over a collared shirt. I've comfortably worn this sweater over two layers, including a long-sleeve shirt under a flannel shirt. (I get cold easily.)

I love this sweater. It is light so I can wear it alone or for cooler weather I can put a tunic underneath. It has great detail. I wear it with my yoga pants and it looks cute. I get lots of compliments on it.

This sweater sets the standard for all sweaters! It is classic in design, flattering in fit, and the perfect weight. I ordered the Fire Brick color and it is deep and rich. Gorgeous. I only wish we had more suitable weather in Texas so I could order a few more of these sweaters. Also, LL Bean provided excellent service. I placed my order and this sweater was shipped to me in about 3 days.

Very heavy, cozy sweater for cold weather. It's the perfect length to cover my rear without being too tight or too baggy. I thought the small might be too tight for my size (68", 150#), but it was the right fit and the sleeves are nice and long. The side zippers are nice. Great quality and washes well. I'd consider buying another if I found it on sale.

I ordered two of these cable tunic sweaters and they are perfect! Originally I ordered a large but the medium was a perfect fit. The quality is right up there and the cable design is classic and gorgeous. The side zippers add an attractive touch. If you like tunics this is the one for you....so pleased!

I'd been looking at this sweater for awhile and finally broke down and bought when it went on sale. The orange color is just perfect. It's not highlighter orange, it's a warm autumnal shade that makes me smile. Love the heaviness, the fabric weight gives the piece an attractive drape. (i.e. it won't ride up.) Comfy

This sweater is so comfy, cozy, and fun to wear. The best part is the number of compliments I receive every time I have it on. Looks perfect with LL Bean Scottish flannel shirt underneath. I definitely recommend that it becomes part of your wardrobe this winter.

I bought this sweater in a pretty sky blue color and I love it. A great way to brighten even the gloomiest of winter days here in Wisconsin. It is on the heavy side and made of cotton (no pilling or itching!). It runs big, but I love that, too! I normally wear a large, but in this medium I can wear a thin sweater or blouse underneath and still have room to move. I also really like the two zippers on either side. Overall, a great buy!

Other reviews say this runs large, so I purchased an XS and I am a34DD. There is enough room in chest area, and this is a wonderfully heavy well made last a life time kinda sweater!!! I am very pleased..

Love!! I've been looking for a well-made (warm) sweater, found it! Very good quality, slightly heavy, and warm. I normally wear a size M. But per reviews, I ordered a size S. Glad I did. I'm 5'7", and the sweater fit perfect! No issues with the neckline (per some reviews) and no complaints with the size zippers. To me, it adds a little umph! If I had one complaint, it would be that the color is not a true cream/beige. It's a little more on the yellowish/beige side. Also the sweater is not scratchy, per reviews; however, it could use a wash with some softener to maybe soften it up a little. Otherwise, you will not be disappointed (other than with the price tag!). It's a little pricey, if you ask me. But worth it!
