Somehow too big and too small at the same time. I poured over reviews trying to judge sizing. I got a small. It's subjective, that's what I've decided. It feels slightly snug at the shoulders for how voluminous the body is, the length of sleeves are okay. I'm in the minority I'm guessing but can I please get a full length gown. My ankles are cold. Offer a tall size. I feel like I'm wearing a slightly snug bell suit. I should have gone up to a medium, sigh. The flannel is thick, pattern bright and happy. If you get a fit that works it's a home run.

...a favorite nightgown style for many years - warm, cuddly well made! The flannel fabric is lovely but wish there were options to Scotch Plaid - find these colors and design jarring for sleepware. Please consider returning to the more subtle and soft prints of past offerings.

Comfortable flannel nightie with a traditional plaid pattern but more interesting colors.

Gown is well constructed and fit is excellent. Fabric is very soft and warm. My only complaint is that it does not have a v neck. I find the neckline irritating.

I love the loose fit, the softness, the pockets, the long length, but the neck is a little small for a size large garment and is a little too snug for comfort.

Seems to be very warm. Could be a little shorter.

I have two of these nightgowns. Admittedly, one is a year or two old, and the other is brand-new.
Things I love: I love the quality of the flannel -- nice and thick, perfect for fall and winter nights. The circumference is large and flow-y, just as you'd expect a good flannel gown to be -- nothing skimpy about the material here. The gown I've had a couple years has held up super-well; the red color is still just like new, and the seams are 100% holding up. I fully expect to wear this nightgown two decades.
First thing I don't love: the first gown is a petite. I am barely-barely 5' tall with shoes on and have proportionally short arms; almost all my clothes are petites. This gown is more like a petite-petite; that is, the arms are shorter than you'd expect for a petite. As a result, I have to leave the wrist buttons undone, or the sleeves are forced up a little too high and are annoying. My second gown is a regular, and it is just a little big on me, but I like its fit better than the petite.
What I don't love about the second gown is the pockets. WHY in the world does a nightgown need pockets? They're just something to be a little uncomfortable if they bunch up under your hip, and the pockets take longer to dry than the rest of the gown. What a useless feature.
Last thought: is it a good value for the money? Eh, if you can get it on sale, yes. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive item for sleepwear.

This is the 3rd LL Bean nightgown that I have ordered over the years. I love the styling. 100% cotton fabric keeps me warm. I love the pockets introduced with this latest model. One thing that I have noticed with this one is that the fabric sheds a LOT of lint. I have washed it 3 times now and the shedding is getting better (i.e., less). Over time, I think that problem will go away.

The nightgown was nicer than I expectedwhich is hard to do with LL Bean clothing. The style is great and the fabric is soft and comfortable. The only drawback is that, as often happens with plus size clothing, the sleeves and shoulders are tight. I did keep it as I have been losing inches. So, it isn't exactly true to size when the shoulders and sleeves are tight, but everything else is.

This gown is soft and cuddly. My only wish is that it were available in petite. It all but drags on the floor.

Got confused with LLB's notice about a change in size terminology, when buying for my wife.
Had to exchange this 1X nightgown for a regular, which is still 'roomy' but good.
Material is not as heavy as her well-worn, favorite nightgown, but still a good product.

I bought a 2x original due to size reccomendations. It was way to big, so I returned it for a 1x. It fit well in the top, but was extra extra extra extra roomy in the skirt part. Which is nice so I don't get twisted while sleeping, but it is way to big. It's like a fitted top with a balloon for a bottom. My husband jokes that he can hang out underneath and nobody would know. I would have preferred a slimmer silhouette, like my other nightgowns. I wanted one warm nightgown, so I'm thinking about keeping it.

The flannel is very soft and cozy. Side pockets are great idea. Runs big. I ordered a medium as was my original size in flannel nightgowns, but this new style is big. So if I decide to order this again I will order a small.

I got this as a Christmas gift and I love it. It is not like the older version of the L L Bran nightgown. The fabric is very soft and i've had no issues with pilling. It's pretty long which I like and I love the pockets. It fits fine in the shoulders and sleeve length but there is a lot of extra fabric in the waist and thighs and I am not a small person on that area. I would definitely buy another one.

Lovely flannel nightgown. Pockets are a huge plus for me. Just wish it had more of a collar to keep my neck warm.

I love this nightgown, it looks nice and is comfy. The sleeves are way too short so I leave them unbuttoned and the length is mid calf. I would like to see manufacturers start making things like this in Tall sizes..I have a long torso and buy my tops only in tall.

I like the fabric weight, however, this runs large. I have to roll up the sleeves.
I would like this to have shorter sleeves and a rounded neck. I usually turn under the edges at the neck for more comfort. The tips of the top annoy me otherwise.
LL Bean, if you make one like this, let me know, and I will buy it, too.

I bought this as a gift for a niece who is a new Mom. I loved that it had pockets AND buttons down the front. I was disappointed to learn that the buttoned front was too high to be used as a nursing gown.. just one more button would have made it a winner!. As such, it won't get worn on these nights when she's up a few times feeding. Otherwise, a solid purchase from LLBean.

When I first tried this on the sleeves were way too long, to the point that I thought "this will frustrate me" because I was constantly pulling the sleeves back to be able to use my hands. After a few washings (per manufacturer instructions) the nightgown shrank significantly and the sleeves are now too short along with the length being a lot shorter. It's so comfortable that I love it despite this. I would buy this again, sizing up to account for shrinkage. It does pile a decent amount, for anyone who is curious, but that doesn't bother me enough to count off. I took a star off for the large amount of shrinkage even though I washed and dried per the instructions. It would be beneficial to include in the item details that it is not preshrunk and that it is 100% cotton so buyers can take that into account.

Huge! I'm curvy and purchased the Large originally because that's what the chest measurements said (even though my regular size is 10-12). I was swimming in it. Exchanged it for a Medium, and it's still too big, but not as ridiculous looking. Not sending back again because I was very disappointed to find out that the customer pays for shipping on an exchange. I get that for a return, but for a size exchange?
Outside of the sizing, it's fabulous and I highly recommend it. Very soft and cozy. The length is great for me, hitting at the high ankle. I'm nice and toasty in this and my Bean slippers.

Purchased a XL petite because I like my night clothes to fit loose. XL Petite would have fit two of me, retuned for a L Petite and it still is large. Since it is 100% cotton, I'm thinking that it may shrink in the washer and dryer? Anyone else think the same? Or actually have the garment shrink after washing then drying ? Can't decide if I should keep? Would like a response to help with decision. Thank you

I bought 2 of these. They're both well made and very warm. I love the facts that they come to my ankles (that helps with the warmth) and that they have pockets. The only con is the fabric. It was wonderfully soft when it came out of the package. But in the very first cool water wash it shed large quantities of lint. It's still very warm but now feels rough to my skin. So, in-spite of all the pros, I won't be buying any more.
