The large fit well with room to spare which I like in a warm sweater, however, as much as I love the pattern, it was so rough and itchy I could barely touch it. Even with a long turtleneck underneath, my hands touching this was irritating. It feels like a Brillo pad. Sadly, its not up to the standards I expect from LLBean. I wish they would offer this beautiful Fair Isle pattern using softer wool or other soft yarns.

I love the look of this sweater, but it runs too large. I'm not tiny, but the XS was too large. There needs to be an XXS! It's also a bit itchy, which might be expected from a wool sweater.

I just received my sweater today and was crazy-excited to get it. It's thick and soft (and yes, it's wool so - spoiler alert - it's itchy) but not overly coarse as some sweaters of this type can be. My hang-up and reason that I'm not sure I'm keeping this is the seams. Specifically, the shoulder seams. I haven't seen the shoulder seams mentioned in any existing reviews, but mine are enough to make me question the longevity of this sweater. They seem to gape more than they should, with visible stitching running the length of the shoulder on both sides. It seems like this will either unravel or produce stray ends or runs, or both, either after washing or wearing. Has anyone else noticed this issue or is mine a fluke? I want to love it and think we'll have many a cozy winter's day and night together, and I come to LL Bean with the expectation that I can count on them for products that last more than a season or two. Certain elements of this sweater seem ready to rise to the occasion, but others, specifically the shoulder seams, seem sloppy and disappointing. I'd wanted to run out and pick up a second one in another color and design, but now I'm re-thinking the one I already have. Mine fit true-to-size, by the way. Not even a hint of running large, as some reviewers have stated.

This sweater is pretty and well made. Itchy of course since it's made of wool. Not too big of a deal since I wear a shirt underneath it. My main issue with it is the smell after it's been washed. I wash it..lay it flat to dry, and the entire area of the house smells like wet wool. It's really not pleasant. Once the sweater is dry, the smell goes away, but it really is rank when wet.

Although this sweater is very beautiful I find it to be quite itchy! Hopefully the itchiness will fade in time! But if you have sensitive skin do not order this item. I can only wear it with a turtle neck underneath. It is very warm and quite long, I can wear it with leggings comfortably!

I purchased the Navy and Cream and I love them and fit true to size. I liked them so much I decided to order the same size in the green. It was HUGE...sleeves way too long and the body of the sweater was way too long. Same size, completely different fit. Love the sweater but the fit varies greatly by color which is the only reason I only gave it stars.

Sent back because the neckline was not my style..too far up on my neck and looked ridiculous on me..maybe someone with a longer, slimmer neck would be able to wear this..definitely not flattering on older saggy necked people like me..

This is a very handsome and warm sweater, but you should know it is VERY scratchy/itchy. I have other wool sweaters that are not scratchy like this one. I followed some Internet directions for how to make a wool sweater softer, but they did not do much if anything to fix it. I have to wear a long-sleeved undergarment with it, which is just fine for outdoors, but if you are outdoors and then need to spend sometime inside with the sweater on, the undergarment makes it really rather too warm.

It was way thicker than I expected. It was huge and was like putting on a very large blanket. The fair isle print was overwhelming. It looked ridiculous on me.

Too big for a sweater but too short for a tunic. Would not look good with any legging or skirt I own. Wool was very scratchy. Yoke was very nice. Maybe the zip up style would have worked for me in a smaller size and use as a jacket. So disappointing to wait for an order and have it not work so I didn't bother trying other sizes.

Not like other soft wools I have bought. Maybe a petite small would have fit or even the cardigan as a coat but this thing was huge. Could not see my self wearing for any occasion. Nicke yoke though. .

I had been eyeing this sweater for a while and finally bought it but the minute I touched it I knew it had to be returned. It looks great but it feels like steel wool and smells like chemicals. Others have commented on these things and I'm sorry to agree. I broke down and tried it on and the fit was stiff and boxy, which I could put up with if it hadn't been so scratchy. I have many wool sweaters that I wear against my skin with no problem. This is a very heavy sweater, also, heavier than I need. So disappointed.

The sweater itself was very nice but the design around the neck- terrible. It looked like I had a giant doilley around my neck! Sorry but it had to go back. The design on the ivory sweater is perfect, not overwhelming.

This sweater is very itchy . . . all over. Wearing something underneath it does nothing to reduce the scratchiness. I bought the light colored one thinking it was off-white or a light cream color; but it is actually more of a light grey. I returned the sweater.

Before taking out of the bag I thought it was beautiful. However it smells like a wet dog. Sleeves are long--really nice. A little boxy at the bottom. Returning this week--smell was just too much. Really didn't want to wash a sweater before I even got to wear it, wasn't sure if washing would get rid of the smell.

loved the colors and design however the yarn is very itchy even with a long sleeve underlayer it is unbearable to wear .. Very disappointed

I received this as a gift, which makes this all more disappointing. This is a beautiful sweater at first glance. I got the dark blue and the colors are lovely. The size chart is accurate for a bigger fit. If you like your sweater more slim fitting, go down a size. I have the XS for a slimmer/dressier fit, However, it is very poorly made. It is made in pieces, with the yoke then stitched on, and this seaming is terrible. In this type of construction you'd need to be meticulous in lining up the colors and pattern, and unfortunately this didn't happen. The seam tself is very heavy and thick, making it uncomfortable and also unattractive. And there are gaps along the diagonal shoulder seams. Normally a sweater in this style is made in one piece, in the round, to avoid such issues. Just shoddy quality, not what I expect from Bean. I buy many, many items here from kids clothing to home items and this was not their usual quality. Luckily it still has the tags on, so I hope to exchange for something else.

Design was horrible. Not Fair isle nor Scandinavian. Looked like a doily. Knitted in pieces and shoulders poorly sewn together with white yarn. Extremely poor quality.

Unfortunately, the construction of the sweater is poor. The shoulder seams are not well joined and it looks like a mess. Sent the sweater back.

I should have returned it. I ordered medium petite. The sweater is huge, bulky, not flattering.

How disappointing! My package just arrived and the sweater color that arrived is nothing like the one shown in cream. Sure, the pattern is the same, but instead of a pretty cream color it is light gray. It's also boxy and shedding fibers.
