This is a lovely warm sweater. The one BIG downside is the color, I ordered cream and the sweater is ash gray. Did I get a lemon or are they all ash gray? They certainly look cream on your web site and in the catalog. On another note, I am glad I ordered a size down to accommodate the generous fit. I'd love to have this sweater in a true cream color!

I want to LOVE this sweater, but it is rather itchy. I'm keeping it, but in order to wear it, I'll have to wear a long sleeved shirt under it. Literally the only thing keeping it from getting 5 stars. Any suggestions to soften it up?

First of all, I like the design of this sweater but it is quite warm even for someone like me that is usually cold. It's not super itchy but enough that I will probably always wear a light tee shirt under it. I bought a size small based on reviews (usually Medium) and glad I did.

I ordered a small, even though my measurements would suggest a medium. After reading all the reviews on the size running large and the reviews were right. If I would have ordered my true size, it would have been big and boxy. Order this sweater one size smaller and it will fit you well. The color is a grey tone with dark diamond design, not cream. It looks good with black, navy or dark jeans. I would not wear it with brown. It is a warm scratchy wool sweater, totally fine with a long sleeve T shirt under it. I bought this sweater for warmth and the design and I am very happy with it. Always read the reviews before you buy!

The sweater is absolutely beautiful. I missed out on it last year, and quickly snapped it up when it became available this season. I ordered a Petite Medium, and unfortunately the sizing just did not work for me. It was a bit too square on my petite/athletic (aka somewhat broad-shouldered) form. I wanted to love it so much! It is wonderful, wonderful quality and love the classic design, but I could not get the fit quite right so it had to be returned for me.

I really loved this sweater and wanted to keep it, but my broad shoulders combined with the fair isle pattern made me feel very wide. I realized it just didn't work for me so I sent it back. For reference, I usually order a Small in the regular Bean line. The sweater is roomy but not huge either.

I ordered the cream and like the other reviews said, it's more of a light grey than cream. It was too itchy for me so I returned it. If you can tolerate wool, it's a very pretty sweater.

I love the style of a fair isle sweater. It's a classic Fall/Winter look. There are some creative color options, too, so it's nice to mix it up. My biggest complaint is the XL was too small and I unfortunately need an XXL or a plus size, neither of which is offered. There used to be plus sized fair isle sweaters offered, now I see none. You are missing a community of women shoppers by only offering Misses and Petites.

I got this in the beige/grey color combo and I'm very pleased. The knit is substantial and well made. The fit is a bit boxy in the body, but I don't mind because it allows for a turtleneck to be worn comfortably underneath, which is good as it would be too itchy next to my skin. I love the classic look of this sweater which will be a great wardrobe addition for our Colorado winters.

This sweater feels like a traditional fair isle sweater - heavy wool, thick and dense. Sizewise I think it runs a tad small. I usually wear XS or S and bought a Small, and I def wouldn't want it any tighter. Slightly itchy but not a deal breaker. I got the blue & love the colors. Sweater had light chemical smell coming out of bag but it seems to have evaporated pretty quickly. Now it just smells of my dog after she curled up on it for a nap:)

First, the "cream" is not as pictured. It is not a true cream, but has a slight gray tint. However, it is still a very beautiful sweater. Yes, a bit boxy, and sleeves are generous, but I am 5'8" and when I cuffed them they were fine. Why on the fence? I hate anything itchy. This will need to have a lightweight shirt, long sleeved tee or turtle in cotton or silk...something to keep sweater off skin. It is slightly itchy straight from the package. Perhaps after it is washed a few times it will soften up. It is a substantial weight and should provide plenty of warmth when I need it this winter. I didn't notice any horrible odor as has been mentioned. Thank goodness there is still a place I can find beautiful, classic pieces. Thank you LLBean!

Received my sweater today, and it's soft for a ragg wool. It did have what appeared to be a couple of pills on the sleeves, but quite small and were removed very easily. I am 5'5", 133 and usually wear a medium in Bean sweaters, which is what I ordered. This was a little on the large side, but I plan to wear a flannel underneath so no problem. It is a nice, substantial weight that I expect will be really warm come winter. I took off one star because of the possible pill problem; I'm hoping it was just a few errant fibers from construction. All in all, a really nice sweater.

The fit is good and the style is really nice, but unlike the other sweaters I bought at the same time, this one is quite itchy and I have to be extremely careful what I wear under it to avoid getting poked by scratchy fabric.

Too tight in neckline and very itchy.i also feel like this item runs small.returned mine.

Purchased the navy in small, much prettier than the picture online. Size up if want a looser fit or wear turtleneck underneath. Unfortunately wore the sweater so cant exchange for a larger size. Slim fitted sweater for the style.

Like the fit of the sweater very much. My issue are the seams. They are very visible. Not sure if I will be returning this sweater.

I bought a Med and a Lrg. I'm a pretty regular size Medium in most items, but decided to keep the Large for ease of layering and overall winter coziness. Unfortunately, I noticed two holes on the front where the design is attached to the body of the sweater. Returning and also reordered in hopes that the replacement will not have these holes.

Exactly the warmth and semi-casualness I wanted for going places on winter weekends. However, I have to wear a tanktop or T-shirt under it because it scratches - and no, not the normal woolen scratchiness. The neck-and-shoulder section with the pattern is connected to the lower portion with thick seams.

The sweater I got was black & white, not at all like the one pictured when I ordered it. So I sent it back.

I had wanted to get this sweater in blue but it was sold out so I settled for the grayish beige one. I love fair isles and these were both really nice patterns. The colors were muted but I liked the hint of orangey red in the one I got. I would have worn a similar color turtleneck under it. The sweater was an odd fit. It's very long and the sleeves are too long and wide at the wrists. The sweater is narrow -- it looks like it was made for a man. I'm still deciding whether to keep it since I do like the pattern a lot. The shape is its sticking point for me.

I ordered a small, and a medium because I don't like tight-fitting sweaters. I never even opened the medium because when I tried on the small, it was so darned itchy, I had to take it off. I'm so sorry because the pattern on the sweater is beautiful (I got the white/grey one.)! Others had mentioned it was itchy, and I thought, well, I'll be able to wear it. But I had it on, and sadly have to agree with the others. Sorry LLB. I'm returning both with regrets. For next year, might you come up with a similar sweater that doesn't itch? Perhaps with alpaca or ??? If it looks anything like this year's, I'll buy it! Thanks for considering.

This sweater is gorgeous and perfect for a cold, winter day but very itchy. As much as I want to keep this sweater, I will be returning because it is simply too itchy for me.
