Love my new LL Bean 650 down jacket. Its the perfect level of warmth here in Atlanta, where it certainly gets/has been cold but not nearly as cold as in, say, Maine!

Warm for sure. Fits a little tight; I am pleased that I bought one size larger. Good value on sale. Including an inside pocket for a cell phone would earn another star.

Love the jacket except for 2 things - one issue is when you put your arms through the sleeves the internal lining of the jacket comes out through the sleeve and you have to tuck it back in. Every single time. The other problem is there is no internal zip pocket which is a must for these types of jackets.

An excellent coat that is very light weight however gives a warm and very comfortable feel. Given 4 stars as - with major down jackets it require specialized care due to delicate, thin shell fabric - this one is no different in that aspect.

Needed to exchange for a larger size but once that arrived, all was good. Fortunately, was able to get it on a very good sale. The temperature has been in the low single digits so it is hard to evaluate how warm the jacket is when realistically, only staying home is sensible. I think it will be a good jacket once we're back into normal weather conditions.

Lining sticks to sleeves of shirt or sweater making it hard to put on. After you get it on, the lining is sticking out of jacket sleeve.

This jacket keeps me very warm in below freezing conditions. I find it to be a bit tight fitting, however. I am normally a medium but the medium jacket is a bit too small when wearing more than one layer. The fleece upper back is very warm but makes it hard to put on over fleece or flannel shirts. It tends to grab. I think a large size would be better fitting.

The quality of this coat is amazing. I ordered an XL TALL for my husband and it looked like he had a medium short jacket on. If you have a muscular build SIZE up! I didn't even reorder a 2xl tall bc I don't think it would've fit his back still! But if you're lean and thin, this coat is wonderful. The quality as usual by LLbean is incredible

I love my jacket. My only complaint is that it went on sale within a month after I bought it for $50 less. I feel like I missed out.

I purchased this jacket for a warm winter jacket but not something to replace my very warm winter coat. You shouldn't be disappointed in this jacket. The quality is good but want to point out two things. I am 5'7" and a half and 170-175 lbs. I purchased a medium and a large. The medium just fit with a t-shirt on but if you want to layer, go with a large. You can then wear a heavier sweatshirt if you want. Quality is good. Warmth is good. There is soft fabric on the interior shoulder section, which is nice and soft but it does want to hold on to clothing a little when you put it on. Not a problem, you just have to adjust the fit.

I like the jacket. It looks great, is warm, has a hood and hand-warmer pockets. Two gripes: the fleece lining in the inside back and shoulders make it difficult to put on - especially if you're wearing a fleece or sweater. If that area was covered with nylon it would slip on easily. Second gripe is the contrasting colored liner of the sleeves pulls out the bottom of the sleeves when you slide your hands in. A small matter but annoying.

I ended up returning this for one simple reason: when ordering I didn't notice the hood wasn't adjustable. Not a terrible thing, and the jacket itself appeared well made and reasonably warm--we had a cold spell going on so I was outside in high, cold winds--but the hood being a tad bigger than my head, the cold was blowing into the jacket. I would also make this point: I didn't order a medium and large and send back the one that fit less correctly, I ordered a large based on the guidelines and it was just enough too big it made the non-adjustable hood more of a heat suck. Had I ordered a medium instead I might have kept the jacket, and the costs of sending things back might have been worth it. But that points as much to having to do something only mail order: w/o trying something on, it means paying the price.

This coat is warm and ok quality. One thing I don't like about it is that if you are wearing a long sleeve shirt and out the coat on your long sleeves do not slide into the coat sleeves easily and then the inside of the shirt shows at the wrist and you have to adjust to get it correct. Hard to explain but a little irritating.

Great go to coat for cold weather. Affordable but lacking some features. No draw cord on hood and only two hand pockets. Would love an extra pocket but you can't beat the warmth and quality at the price point.

Nice and light yet quite warm. I'm 5'7" and 225 lbs. XXXL rits well over my large shoulders and chest. I wish it had more pockets.

I am fortunate to live near Albany. NY so was able to stop at the LL Bean store to shop for winter jackets and try them on. I ended up purchasing this jacket and liked that it was lighter than other jackets I have purchased, while still offering warmth. I will say that I agree with other reviews regarding purchasing a size up. This cut is nice and trim and consider you will have some sort of layer underneath for colder months. I typically wear a large in other coats but ended up with an extra-large and even still, it is snug. I should also mention that the lining in the sleaves is loose and with putting your arm through with a sweatshirt, you may need to tuck back in the lining that pokes out to avoid it getting soiled. Other that that, I am happy with this purchase.

Seems well made and would be warm, but the tall 3x men's jacket still falls just at the waist if you're 6'8- returning for something longer with more coverage. It would be great if there was a 2xTall size!

The jacket is really nice, but it's too snug. I have other LLBean coats the same stated size, and they fit quite well. I wish I could have tried on this jacket before I purchased it. I may not get another mail order jacket without being able to try it on first - this one was not cheap. So much for LLBean catalog purchases.

Fine down jacket but disappointed in the fit. Shoulders are very narrow and too snug. Had to go up 2 sizes to get right fit
