Perfect "True to LL BEAN" sizing. Right sleeve length, right body length. Easy to zip. It is a heavy coat. (No "Merit Badges" on the sleeve, thank goodness, like those coats that cost 3x as much and are not any warmer . . . . . )

I never have to worry about being cold when i wear this coat. It's also stylish and I've gotten lots of great compliments on it. I'm 6'1 with long arms and the X large fits perfectly.

Half a century ago when I lived in Maine I had a "war surplus" snorkel coat that I purchased for $25 and the snorkel was needed. At a considerably higher price this is a major advancement on that coat. Essentially the coat delivers what the ad says. It has so many pockets you may have trouble finding them. It's warm and dry. The zipper is substantial as are the attachments over the zipper. It resists getting wet but the surprising thing is the weight. For such a large and warm coat it's feels light. Probably as a result it doesn't feel bulky and, at least subjectively, it doesn't look bulky. I can't tell if the coat priced at $100 more is worth the difference because I didn't buy it but this seems to have all the needed features offered by that more expensive coat.

For those days where it's really cold (20 degrees and below) and I don't feel like wearing multiple layers, I love wearing this jacket. It's super warm, and I don't have to worry about bulking out to stay warm. Great quality, I've been wearing this jacket for the past two years and it still feels like new. My only issue was that it was a lot bigger than expected and I got a small.

I generally wear a size large in everything. When I ordered a large in this jacket, I was absolutely swimming in it. Sent it back and got a medium, and it still has space for layers underneath. Size issues aside, the jacket is great. I haven't had to wear more than a long-sleeve t-shirt underneath, and have felt no wind chill on my torso. The materials and stitching are all high quality. Plenty of room in pockets both inside and outside. The front/bottom pockets are fairly low, so it can be a bit awkward to put your hands inside to keep them warm. The fur part of the hood is detachable, which is a nice feature. Sleeve length is good, and the length of the coat itself is nice - it hangs well below my waist.

I bought this coat because I live on 22 acres of wilderness and spend a lot of time outside, even in the coldest weather. I enjoy sitting on my outside porch watching the birds at my feeders. I needed a coat that would keep me warm In freezing temperatures and with a wind. This coat has been perfect for that. I am also happy that LL Bean seems to have resolved the problem zipper issue I experienced with other of their coats. Not this one!

Love it - actually bought a second one. Incredibly warm and much better price point than the "Canadian competitor". Suggestions would be a larger zipper and rubberized pocket snaps (they clang when walking if you do not have them snapped).

I highly recommend ordering one size smaller than usual ...these run large! I ordered my usual size medium and it was way too big, I exchanged it for a small and it's perfect.

When I received this parka, I realized it was an updated model of a previous one I owned in the 1980's when I business-travelled Montana and Colorado as a Field Technical Rep for the Ford Motor Company. I've since relocated to my home turf of Western New York. Although we do get some bitter cold winters in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area, this current version of the parka is so well insulated (and now, water-resistant) that I cannot wear it in a temperature or wind chill much above freezing (32). It's so warm and of a perfect length, that at my slightly less-than-average 5'9" height it covers my butt and then a little more, precluding any cold and/or wind intrusion with the help of the internal elastic band. The two-way zipper allows for unzipping up from the bottom when behind the wheel, preventing strain on the zipper. The velcro sleeve closures with internal elastic cuffs keep my arms draft-free. The faux fur hood trim (removable) and high collar/hood let me laugh at anything Old Man Winter can dish out around here. I recommend layering with a sweater/sweatshirt or similar item for proper trapping of body heat inside the coat. For me, the slightly larger fit gives me ideal freedom of movement. For snowblowing, you won't find anything more protective unless you have a snowblower cab. This parka is the real deal!

I bought one of these about 20 to 25 years ago. It's the warmest, largest, ugliest coat I've ever owned. By ugly, I mean this isn't a coat you want to wear to a nice affair, this is a coat you wear when it's mongo cold and you don't give a hoot about your looks. You wear this when you want to be warm; when warmth completely overrides looking-good. I've never had any problems with the coat. Construction is top notch, no fraying, no seams coming loose. The coat has become almost a family member. We refer to it as "Big Green." I highly recommend this coat as a long-term purchase. It's ugly, but at 5 below and a 25 mph wind, people will want to buy it off your back.

Before this, the warmest winter coat I've worn was an AirForce surplus coat from the '60's (sometimes called the "bear"). This coat from Bean takes some inspiration from that coat. including an insulated hood with a fur trimmed edge that can be turned up by itself as a high collar or extends the hood and protects the face. The coat is long enough to cover the top of your legs. It has a water and wind resistant shell that helps keep you warm. All of that warmth comes with a bit of bulk, so be aware of that, but if you want a warm coat, this is the best I've seen.

You will not be cold in this Parka! Its worth every penny. Excellent quality. The ad does not tell you about the extra hidden pockets. Plenty of room for two pairs of hats and two pairs of gloves, a Phone, Ipad and chargers and more. At 32 F I usually have it mostly unzipped and I am still warm. This Parka is windproof. Recently in a 35MPH snow storm, while my friends were very chilly in their jackets on a long walk home... I was nice and toasty, On a different day, At -20F windchill was the first time I had to button it up. I can even ride a bicycle with it on and the hood will not blow off. The only thing I do not care for, is a minor thing, but the upper front outer pockets are backwards and hard to access when you are wearing the Parka. I use it for work and play. It is very comfortable and probably overkill for me. But iIts the best Parka I have ever seen and I have owned several in my 50+ years. I bought it in Red. Red jackets, not just this one, tend to show dirt. So we aware to wash it frequently. Buy this Parka and you will be satisfied. Any questions ???

Have worn this a few times to plow snow in the 20's. I wore too many layers so became overheated. Very warm and comfortable. Like the numerous pockets.

I bought this parka for my husband for Christmas. He is not one to wear coats however he had recently stated he wished he had a nice warm coat. I looked on the reviews for this item before purchasing and they were all positive. He wore the coat and could not stop commenting how warm it was and he also stared it is the nicest winter coat he has ever owned. Thank-you LL Bean!!

I bought this coat for my husband who wanted a warm, well made, coat for snow blowing and other outdoor activities. This coat is EXACTLY what he wanted. Many useful pockets and at a size 2X, doesn't make him look like the Michelin man! It also was NOT made in China. This is a SERIOUS winter coat! He loves it! Seems roomy enough to use for skiing also. Hood is great, roomy, and can be easily removed if he wants. Water resistant, wind proof and looks good too. Worth every penny!

Parka keeps me warm in cold windy below freezing weather. Kept me comfortable in 3 degree Fahrenheit windchill last night. Lots of pockets to hold hats, gloves, etc. Sleeves have elastic to keep wind from blowing up arms. Insulated hood has lots of room for wearing hat. Coat runs a little large but that can allow you to layer clothes underneath. Hand pockets seem awkwardly low and hard to reach. It is too warm for me indoors. I recommend this coat for cold weather climates.

This replaced a similar L.L. Bean down insulated coat that I had for 13 years. They've improved this one with additional pockets and better water proofing.

No ten below weather yet, but comfortable and warm walking in 20 degrees with 20 knot wind. Lots of useful pockets. Didn't plan to use hood but found very good for wind resistance - when the wen was behind me.
