Purchased this for a trip above the Arctic Circle and it didn't disappoint. It is the best, and warmest, parka I have ever owned. It is very well made with the ability to adjust its fit in many ways. Plus it has that LL Bean quality that I've come to expect. Highly recommended if you're in need of an extreme weather parka!

I've wanted one for years and finally bought it on sale. A couple weeks later we got a week long ice storm with temps in the 20s straight. It's a heck of a parka.

What more can I say? I've had this coat for a decade. I live in Alaska, and I've never been cold wearing it. The zipper and every snap still works. Its end of life is nowhere in sight. Material is strong, not a tear in it anywhere. Never felt a drop of water soak through. Fur trim on hood does an excellent job of breaking up wind. Strangely, I could also wear it all day inside and not get too hot. It breathes. My wife has a woman's parka just as long, not a single flaw either. Please don't ever stop making these.

I've had this for about five years. I also have several other higher end winter parkas. This just fits and functions without frills and has so much functionality with the pockets. The ruff on the hood acts almost like a tunnel hood. The hood itself is not oversized and very warm. You can cinch it close to the body even at the bottom to keep the cold out. It's also not particularly bulky yet as warm as my pricier options, maybe because the shell itself is so thick and waterproof. Size down - I'm normally a medium and a small fits perfectly. I'm 5'6 160.

Purchased this in a men's small after returning the medium. Would have loved to have the choice of forest green or navy but I'm very happy with the dark red. It's also a pretty iconic Bean color. The parka is just awesome- incredibly warm and perfect for long walks with the dogs in all kinds of inclement weather here in the northeast. I'm always looking for an excuse to throw it on. I'd echo the sentiment of another reviewer who mentioned needing larger zipper pulls. The ones included are quality YKK and while I've had no problems with them, I'd favor beefier pulls. Can't really take issue with anything else - this parka is a serious piece of outdoor gear and I couldn't be happier with this purchase (which came at a nice discount to make it even sweeter).

This is our second Baxter State Parka. It's the absolute best. My wife has one, too. It has everything you need for a blustery winter's day. Pockets all over the place, a very spacious hood with faux fur edges, cinched waist and bottom hem, great insulation and long sleeves. It's amazingly effective at keeping the wind out and warmth in. I have the charcoal color, and it's perfect, too. Great winter coat here. You can't go wrong with this one.

I bought this coat in January of 2023 in anticipation of going to Japan when the average temperature was 50F (10C) but luck would have it the temperature was closer to 60F (15C) and I didn't need the coat. February 2024 went to Hokkaido where the temperature was 24F (-4C) and the coat was greatly appreciated. It snowed, no problem. Wind chill, no problem. Put the hood on, your ears will thank you. This coat probably would've kept me warm even if the temperature dropped down even further. If it was cold I didn't feel it.

Great quality for a reasonable price. Purchased this for trips to northern Michigan and couldn't be happier.

I haven't had this coat a long time, but so far, I'm thrilled with it. It is an extremely warm coat. I like that the hood is detachable. The quality is good, and I like the material it's made with. I'll see how it wears in the long run. I was concerned it would be too bulky, but was surprised it doesn't feel that way.

6'4" and 220 pounds. 46.5" chest, 34" waist, 37" sleeve length. The XL Tall fits perfectly. A thick sweater like the LL Bean signature fisherman cardigan fits under it nicely, or I can just wear with a tee shirt and it is not baggy. I originally thought that this parka would be my new winter coat but discovered it is too warm for short trips to the supermarket. This coat is best suited for the person who is spending an extended period of time outside. A year ago (early 2023), I looked at around 30 different parkas from all the big name companies. All the parks I researched retail around $600. I didn't buy any of them. Half were water resistant but not waterproof (for 600$ not waterproof is unacceptable in my opinion). The other half lacked a cinch at the hem or waist to prevent cold air from entering (also unacceptable). A year later I stumbled upon LL Bean Baxter parka. This coat has every feature I was looking for AND at half the retail price of all those other companies! This parka has one flaw. Hopefully LL Bean is listening and fixes it? As another reviewer pointed out, the lower hand pockets are a flawed design. Keeping one's hands in the pockets is uncomfortable. This is due to the fact that the pockets are very low and one must twist their wrists uncomfortably to keep hands in the pockets. LL Bean could probably fix the problem by canting the pockets at around a 45 degree angle.

Got it just in time to wear during -41 degree weather in northern Montana. (does NOT include wind chill!) It was warm, wind proof and comfortable. If you need a warm parka, it is a very warm, at a reasonable price.

The Baxter State Park parka is super warm and very practical. Glad I purchased my forever winter coat!!
