Got this bag before travelling with carry-on luggage only to London. It was large enough for a two-week trip which included lots of walkabout and lunches at Michelin-starred restaurants (and the required formal attire).
The pros are well covered in other reviews. I liked the accessibility, the security, the secured pocket, the ease of organization and the perfect fit of packing cubes.
Things I wished for: a flat bottom. It is impossible to stand this on a train or bus without it falling over. I appreciate the many pockets for organization, but it adds to the base weight of this. If weight is an issue (as it was for me on a recent prop plane trip to Marble Canyon), having all the access zippers and many pockets adds a lot to the weight. I'm not sure the perfect balance has been achieved with this bag. For me, I would prefer fewer access points and pockets in exchange for a lighter-weight bag.

Bought this bag and every size of camera cube and packing cube. Really impressive product.

This bag is likely the best bag I have and I have a lot of Peak Design bags! It certainly can fit everything I need for any length of a trip. I can always keep the bag as a carry on and/or on my body. I love the thought and design that went into it, especially the center divider that can be accessed from both sides. I also love the "no slop" look of everything as well. The two negatives I have is that if you are using a camera cube and clip it for side access, it definitely messes up the packing cube setup, unless you plan in advance. Secondly, I'd love a cleaner look for the compressed state rather than the buttons/smushed look. Other than that, I feel like this is one of my last travel bags for a long time.

Got this for my birthday and love it. From the compartments to the ability to change its dimensions to fit my immediate needs regardless of the situation. It is a bit bulky but that's what I was looking for.

Got this bag to use with a carry on for a couple of trips. I used if for a month in Mexico and Belize and again in Europe where we did 7 countries in 19 days this bag was amazing. Once you developed habits about where you put stuff it made travel feel so much less stressful and as I moved through airports and customs people commented on how easy I made it look. My favorite things were how easily you could go from wearing it to taking one shoulder off, rotating it around, pull out what you need and slip it right back on, ready to roll. The stash pockets for the shoulder and waist straps were super useful and I like how tidy it made the bag. It was comfortable to wear, even packed to the brim with snorkel fins, mask and snorkel!
It's well designed and I am so happy with this travel gem!

I have not yet begun my travels where this backpack will truly be put to the test, however, I love everything about this bag! I have walked around my apartment with it in anticipation of my upcoming travels and I've never been more excited. Worth every penny!
The camera cubes are equally as cool as the bag. I'm having a blast organizing/re-organizing the bag to optimize my setup. Easy enough to use and the design/functionality of all the velcro dividers are awesome!
1 piece of critical feedbackthe plain cardboard box it was shipped in was poorly taped and practically destroyed by UPS. The corners were open to the elements, and the top was taped perpendicular 3x as the original tape was not stuck to the box. Fortunately the items were in plastic wrapping otherwise I may have had to return the item as damaged. For how much this backpack costs, it should arrive in a crispy clean box. It doesn't have to be like opening a new phone or tech accessory, but it should be a similar experience. Packaging adds to the customer experience!
Also I was expecting the rain fly to be included, maybe it was my miss but can't hurt to make it more clear that it's not included.

I got this bag for a few trips about 4/5 days long. Also used with the packing cubes, wash pouch, and tech pouch. This bag can hold it all. Extra space depending on how much I was bringing. Had room for spare shoes. Plenty of pockets for all your edc too. Would highly recommend this bag. Got the sage color

I bought this backpack a month ago in an attempt to streamline my travel packing. I already owned the shoe and clothes packing cubes as well as two of the camera cubes so it just seemed natural to finally get a bag they actually work with. Solid all the way around. On it's maiden voyage (US to Canada) the airline asked if they could gate check it. I figured what could be a better test than to let baggage handlers have at it (thankfully I didn't have any camera equipment in it). Aside from a bit of dirt it is no worse for wear. Looking forward to more trips and way to test the bag out.

I've been traveling with this pack all over the world for the last several years and have really enjoyed its thoughtful functionality, durability, and style. What's more, Peak Design stands by their products 100%. Had one of the mounting loops snap off one time, brought the pack to their store, they replaced it in minutes, no questions asked. A friend of mine I was traveling with loved my pack so much she got herself one too! Keep up the great work, Peak Design!

While the main compartment impresses with its high quality, I do have a minor suggestion regarding the thickness and comfort of the backpack straps. A slightly thicker padding or more ergonomic design in the shoulder straps would greatly enhance the overall comfort and alleviate this issue.

I got this bag on a recommendation by a colleague. I wanted a single bag that could hold everything I need on a week long business trip. That's what I got! It's relatively easy to over-pack this, exceeding airline weight limits, so you want to be mindful about that. It also just about works as your day bag on site, when compressed. I'm now two week long trips in, both across continents and within Europe, and have zero issues with the product. One thing you might want to consider is that this is not a light bag. I'm relatively heavy set and don't mind it at all, the fact that both your hands are free when traveling is such a big plus for me. Build quality is excellent. I like how understated it is - it doesn't look like "a business product", which is important for me.

Bag has all needed features but this is not that detail kind of review. Here is the real deal
My wife and I like to travel and used to do it a lot. We are a bit rusty because we have two little kids but we decided we were going to Italy for 12 days, just us, anniversary trip. Now, I like efficiency and she, well she likes to look good (which I'm a fan of) but looking good requires many things like outfits and toiletries etc All I can think is roller bags in Italy which means trains and ferries, taxis and buses, stairs and cobble stones and I started sweating sitting right here on my couch. So I searched google for best non "backpacking" backpack and found peak designs. I ordered two of everything backpacks, packing cubes, toiletry kits, shoe bags etc. let's say I went the distance.
Bags came in the mail and when I opened them my wife was more than a bit skeptical. She was unsure if "looking good" could fit in that one bag but we committed to try. Using the "system" of packing cubes it was amazing what we got in those bags all while remaining efficient. So much so that when we left for the airport my brother asked "is that ALL you guys are taking?!" Off we went. She checked hers and I carried mine on. They check like a dream because the back straps hide away with magnets. No issues carrying it on we get to Italy and what I imagined was real.
We carried them through the streets of Rome, stuffed them overhead on trains, put them under seats on ferries, hauled them up at least a million steps on the Almafi coast, Carried them through cobblestone ally's of Venice. All the while passing those sorry looking travelers shlepping two oversized roller bags. And I realized, we looked good.
Then we went shopping and added more stuff to the mix. This time I was skeptical, but wouldn't you know it all that stuff just kept fitting into this expandable contraption. The only issue was that my wife started making fun of me because every time I saw any other peak designs products out and about I pointed them out and expressed how those people had great taste. Can you believe that she called me a "bag nerd" but I'm cool with it.
After 12 days of feeling just slightly superior we returned home and the skepticism is now gone. I overheard my wife FaceTiming about the trip last night and she started showing off her backpack and called it a "miracle bag."
All in all I couldn't be happier. Great product made by some serious "bag nerds" who I'm sure would love to help you look good wherever it is you are off to next.
Thanks Peak Designs. (I have no relationship with these people, just a fan of the bags)

I bought this bag looking for an upgrade from my Jansport backpack I've had for 15(+) years. It's incredibly versatile and offers many security features! I like it so much I plan to get the smaller 35L for travel where I don't need such a lar bag.

I upgraded to this backpack for a recent trip and loved it! It's so easy to pack and access with great organizational features. It worked great coupled with my carryon suitcase to avoid checking any baggage on our flights! I'm a fan!

On a recent trip to San Francisco, I had the pleasure of going into the SF Store. I purchased one of the 45L travel bags, a Camera Cube, and a Wash Pouch. I can whole heartedly say that I will be using these ALL THE TIME. Packing this bag for my trip home, I was instantly impressed with the quality and thoughtful storage solutions of this bag. This has now become an instant addition to my all-carry-on travel loadout, and will be for years to come. Highly recommended. As a side note, if you have the opportunity to go into the SF store, the staff there are super helpful with amazing customer service. Big shoutout to the THREE people who very excitedly demo'd the products I ended up purchasing. Only issue is that I see myself spending WAY more next time I am at a Peak Design Store... Well done.

It's a little heavy but it is durable. Some of the features are really nice to have. Hideaway straps behind the magnets. And they offer a lifetime warranty. You are spending a little more than you may like but I still think it's a no brainer (especially if you can get a discount)!

I was searching for a Backpack that could double as an extra carry-on piece of luggage. This Backpack designed perfectly, extremely well thought out, missed nothing and doubles as an extra carry on.

I bought this bag because I do a lot of urban travel and needed a bag that I could use for short work trips. The bag itself is fantastic. It is well-organized and made of durable, top-grade material. The most recent plane I used it on, I was unable to fit it under the seat in front of me, but it was a smaller plane, and the bag was fully loaded. I'm hoping it will fit under the seat on my cross-Atlantic flights. We shall see!

This pack is everything you'd expect from peak! High quality, perfectly well thought out design, excellent zippers and pulls, great pocket location. The pack stands up on its own, which is awesome.
The shoulder straps need some design advancements but they tick away nicely and for basic travel they are fine. I wouldn't want to wear this pack all day for a week traveling on a pack packing trip or anything.
