I did my research on several backpacks before ultimately buying this one. It's kind of hard to compare when you are watching videos of the backpacks, instead of having them physically with you. With that in mind, I want to say that I picked this one based on the look, but mostly on the fact that it can expand from 35L-45L. I traveled on several flights in Mexico with the backpack fully expanded to 45L and had no issue taking it as a carry on. The material and durability was great. One of the best features I liked was the anti pick pocketing details the backpack comes with. I didn't take my laptop, and instead used the laptop sleeve to put a big envelope with all my important travel documents. Overall I this this backpack was worth it. Great quality, looks good, and worked for me. The capacity was more than enough for me. As a reference this is all I was able to fit in my bag for my trip. For info I used the roll method to pack my clothing which helped fit more items. 2 Pairs of Jeans 2 Pairs of chinos 7 XXL Shirts 1 Long Sleeve 2 Sweats 1 Pair of Shoes 1 Pair of Sandals 1 Light Sweater 6 pair of socks 6 pairs of underwear 3 Undershirts 1 Baseball Hat 2 Shorts 1 Light Rain Jacket Peak Design Small Wash Pouch 6 100ml bottles Cellphone charger Cellphone battery pack A small Book Hope this review helps. Happy travels!

I LOVE this bacpack. By happy coicidence I found it on clearance in a Vancouver Canada department store. I wanted a waterproof backpack after having a laptop get wet in a previous non-waterproof one. I am travelling constantly as I go for 100 countries. It still looks like new after two years and 50 countries! Very comfortable, extremely durable and can hold a ton of stuff with lots of pockets and zips for great organization. Nothing has ever broken on this bag and I treat it pretty rough. Best backpack ever for a constant traveller. I also like how you can contract/expand it with the internal fasteners.Looks good too, straps are simple/reliable. Highly recommend.

I have been looking for a good travel bag that fits in carry-on restrictions in both the US and UK for a few trips I have planned. I'm not a big fan of checking bags then having to worry about these wonderful airlines just losing it on me. I did a LOT of research and compared this bag to many others that fit in the same restrictions, and were also focused on camera storage, as well as general storage as this will house my Canon EOS R with lenses & accessories, as well as all of my clothes and travel stuff! I have the Peak Design toiletries bag already, and have loved it for over 2 years now, and pairing it with this is the PERFECT travel setup. The Sage color is even more beautiful in person than online, if you're thinking about it. I am so excited to get out on my trips and use this travel bag. Also, I highly recommend you watch the PD YouTube video (32 min long) on this bag "Peak Design Everyday Backpack: Setup + Tips". I watched it 3 times and will watch it a few more when I pack for my first trip, as there are SO many features to this thing, and they're all SO useful! Also, it's cheeky funny, so enjoy all the little puns.

Best bag ever! I'm constantly moving from one house to another. I live at both houses plus I film for my YouTube channel so i needed a bag that would cover multiple situations. This bag along with a few other accessories like the packing cubes allow me to pack everything i need all neat and tidy. This bags expanding design allows me to fit as much or as little as i need. I love that this bag looks deceptively small in comparison to how much it actually can fit and it can fit a surprising amount in it. Its side zippers as well handles on all four sides plus the back make this one of the most versatile bags you can buy. I like to pack the main compartment so that I can still access stuff from the side zips such as a hand sanitizer for when its needed. The bags also built like a tank just take one look at it and you'd know it was built to last. My only complaint would be that it's not the most comfortable and that 's also a common complaint by the way but I don't think it's that bad. If you're looking for a bag that is extremely versatile, holds a ton and is build to last than this is it. :)

I've compared to a number of other packs, & this one is superior by far. Extremely meticulous design & features. Yet to use but will be in 2 weeks.

I was researching to get a backpack that I could use for my everyday tasks as well as being able to use it as a carryon for travels up to 1,5 week. It really surpasses the expectations I had after reviewing and reading about the bag beforehand. Really well thought out and practical, and not least very durable. Recommend 100%

I'm on my second trip with this bag, and am so glad I got it. It can hold a tremendous amount of stuff, and the packing cubes keep everything neat and tidy. I thought it was pricey for a "backpack" but luggage gets pretty expensive nowadays- and I wanted to carry everything on my back and keep my arms free. I'm so glad I got it. It's got more features than I can count. I love the handles, large volume, sleek look, and security features. Oh and can hold my water bottle too- very few travel backpacks can do that. Basically this bag is awesome. I'll be using it for many years.

My wife and I both bought one of these bags and we are really impressed with the quality and innovative design. The fabric is nice and thick, not flimsy. The zippers are really good quality. The multiple access points and various pockets make organizing a breeze. Love the product, the story behind the company and that they don't have any large investors.

As a certified research geek, It's rare that I'm suprise by a product and am never blown away . Until now! Just finished a 4 day trial trip with my 45L and am so impressed. Rugged and stealth looks. Expansive and compact (wow!) Most of all the design is intuitive and seems to anticipate my needs. When I reached for some access point , it was just there. Love the bag and becoming a fan boy of the company . Keep up the great work!

It is a great backpack, large and durable. I wanted to replace my eight-year-old backpack with it. I use it as an everyday backpack because I like to put many things in my bag. It will also be an excellent companion when I travel overseas.

Amazing build quality as always, the side access pockets are super useful to quickly grab something out of the bag without having to unzip the entire back access. I also really like the expanding front pocket. The divider and pockets are super useful especially being accessible from each side. Deep side pockets for tripods and long/large water bottles. Really the only downsides are the height of the bag, which makes it almost impossible to store under aircraft seat(although reducing this would reduce capacity), the fact that the laptop pocket seems like a bit of an afterthought, and unless you're just throwing all your stuff in the large pocket, you do have to spend money on packing cubes, but as long as you are aware beforehand !

I bought this backpack a while ago and the truth is that I am very happy. The quality is excellent, you can barely feel it when you touch it. It is very comfortable to carry it on your back and with all the pockets. It is very wide. I use it on each of my trips.

I travel a lot with work, often visiting places for 2-3 days at a time. I've always carried a backpack and a separate pull along carryon suitcase. A recent location had a cobbled street, and this was my tipping point. After dragging the wheelie suitcase over the cobbles, I dived straight into researching alternative travel systems. I like to be thorough in my research, so around a year later, lots of blog reviews and countless YouTube videos, I finally decided on this backpack. I could not be more pleased. Did it cost a lot? Yes, I went all in and got the medium, small and shoe packing cubes, plus the tech and wash pouches. But it all works wonderfully together. Having just one bag to deal with is a game changer. I mostly use the train for travel and it fits nicely overhead, and I'm not having to put a suitcase far away on a luggage rack or drag it through the aisle. I also recently used the backpack on an international trip, and I had what I can only describe as a smug feeling having just one bag to deal with on the flight as I didn't have to check-in a case, and the bag was cabin bag sized, I actually felt like I'd forgotten to do something as it was all just a bit too easy. Was it worth it? I've only been using for a few weeks, but so far, I think so. Potential downsides to be aware of, the bag in itself is heavy, when fully loaded it's obviously a lot heavier. For me, I'm not walking for hours with it on my back, it's moving from planes, trains, busses, cars, offices and home with short walks in between, so it's a non-issue. Another thing is that when in 'compact' mode, that is using the two press studs at the top to 'pull it in a bit", I've noticed if the main compartment is full/heavy, these buttons have popped back open. The only impact this has is looks. All the other features completely outweigh this for me, particularly the large bottle holders on both sides of the pack and after watching the product videos the 'pro tips' have come in useful too. If Peak Design read this. I'd love you to design / recommend a small laptop backpack that would fit inside this somewhere. So when reaching a destination I can pull this out to carry a laptop, notepad pen and charger around, without having to use the full backpack.

I owned a Tortuga backpack prior to owning this bag. I decided to get a new travel back because my Tortuga bag (which is more expensive) had the webbing in the shoulder straps come apart. Tortuga's lifetime warranty doesn't actually cover the cost of a new bag nor are they able to repair it if it is an old model. So basically it turns out to be a garbage warranty. The warranty is much better worded with Peak Design! This bag exceeds my expectations in every single way! It is truly amazing. It has the ability to compress 5L, expand to hold I think 10 more L from its neutral state. You can cleverly tuck away the shoulder straps and hip straps. (Although I wish the magnets were a bit stronger). You can lash large and awkward items to the outside with hidden lash straps. You can get into the bag from every angle and you can also lock down the bag to make sure it is secure and no-one will be able to enter the bag without real effort. I wish this was the bag I had found years ago. When I travel, I do carry on only, overseas trips that last 2-3 weeks. This bag is my home away from home and it can handle every challenge that I would throw at it. Although I'm not an extreme traveller, I do utilize the bag to a pretty full extent and I'm happy with it on all of its fronts. Honestly, there is nothing I would change except for a desire of stronger magnets all around. Zippers are top notch, fabric is top notch, features are top notch. I can just go on and on. This bag is worth every single penny. Other named brands don't compete when you have the ability to hold them in your hands side by side.

I bought the 45l travel backpack for one-bag travel for work. It easily handles 3-day trips and I can go up to a week in a pincheven with a suit. Everything is well thought out and constructed and the shoulder/hip strap storage is genius. The compression snaps make it a usable day pack once I leave the clothes at my hotel, but I do recommend a packable tote for items you want at your seat on the plane I love the sage color with the wash bag and tech bag accessories. The bag has very clean lines and a professional look, despite being a backpack. I do wish the external top pouch was a bit bigger but it is a minor concern.

It truly exceeded my expectations and is by far the best backpack I have ever owned. The flexibility and comfort it provides are exceptional. While the price may be on the higher end, I believe it is completely justified by the quality and functionality of the product. Thank you for creating such an outstanding backpack that truly delivers on its promises.

I love this travel backpack. Last summer I spent 30 days backpacking Europe so traveling as light as possible was important to me. This was the only bag I took on that trip. While other people on my trip took wheeled carry-ons and massive checked bags that they then tried to wheel down the cobblestone streets of European cities, I had none of those issues whatsoever with my lone travel backpack. I used the medium + small packing cube configuration which worked well, and I was also able to fit my tech pouch and toiletry bag by removing the organization divider. When you're backpacking, traveling around often, and staying in hostels this is a fantastic setup. One bag is the way to go. Since last summer I have also taken the bag on shorter trips within the US and it obviously works great for that as well. I'm looking forward to this Summer when I will be taking it to the UK for another longer 17 day trip! Thanks PD!

I really like how you can access the main compartment multiple ways, so you don't have to dig through your backpack from the top to find your items. The front compartment also have 4 internal zipped compartments to help you stay organized.

The 45L backpack is the best designed pack I've ever traveled with. Especially with the pack cubes! It keeps it all organized and is especially good at being able to find things quickly. Just an amazing design.

I recently purchased the 45L Backpack. I plan to use it on a 2 week trip to Italy this summer and will be testing it on a trip to Grand Cayman shortly. So far, the design and quality of this backpack is clear. It is very well thought out and seems to have all the bases covered. I can definitely get more in this bag than my standard roller bag and I am looking forward to traveling wheels free.
