The bag is very smartly designed like most PD products, very intuitive to use and the materials are top notch. The issue that I had however was with the material being used in the back of the backpack, when you put a lot of weight like when you are carrying a lot of your camera gear, etc the material is coarse so it will mess up/ruin your shirt depending on what you have on. Before I noticed how the material was really pilling the shirt material because of the high friction, I ruined two nice shirts I wore when carrying the backpack, now I know better but still....

I eventually returned my EDB v2. It was catching onto my wooly bouses and t-shirts almost like velcro. Also, the 20l version barely fit Dell XPS 15 and it wasn't easy to take the laptop out through narrow top access. I liked the spacious side access and shelves, though.

This is obviously an expensive backpack so I had high hopes for it. When I got the bag, I was immediately pleased with the construction. It was in perfect condition, no loose/extra stitching. I got used to the opening/closing mechanism very quickly. The adjusting laptop pocket is a very nice touch. I have a 13 inch laptop that I can easily grab and store.
However I kept finding downsides to the bag. The number 1 thing I didn't like about this bag, is that instead of the bag being able to adjust to my needs, I kept finding myself having to adjust to the bag. Yes the bag is highly customizable, however the options are typically just not enough or are self-limiting. I really like the idea of the origami folding dividers however the the upper pocket on the inside blocks the ability to place the divider near to top of the bag. The dividers fold, but since all three of them are the same size and shape, you can only get pockets of certain sizes, specifically smaller compartments. If you have an object thats just too big or small, you'll have to figure out another way to store it.
The side pockets meant for a camera stand or water bottle are very small. They added a stretchy fabric so the pocket can expand, however it's not enough. The pocket opening is way too small even with this adjustability. It would have been better if one pocket has a wider opening to allow bigger items, but instead both pockets are the same size, and small. Two different sizes would allow for a greater variety of storage, or bigger openings for both that can be tightened if needed.
Large items that would fit fine in a normal backpack simply take up too much space in this bag. Sometimes I need to take an extra pair of shoes with me to work. If I put them in the bag, along with my water bottle that wont fit in the side pocket, I pretty much have no space left. I can't even fit my shoes and bottle in the bag without having to take out all of the dividers.
I love the key ring holder. It is a very unique and "peak" design. However I wish they included one more. It's a small piece of plastic with some thread on it. For the price of this bag, a second one only seems right.
Another gripe I have is that putting any item in the smaller pockets pretty much means they'll poke out into the large compartment. The inner side pockets are a nice touch, but again they decided to mirror the pockets on both sides, instead of providing a variety to fit different items.
I really wanted to love this bag. But for my lifestyle, and they things I need to carry, it just doesn't work. A few times I had to opt to either leaving something behind, carrying it along with the bag, or changing the layout of the bag to kind of sort of make things fit.
Many will love this bag, I recommend you get it to see if you like it or if it'll work for your lifestyle. For me, it has too many disadvantages. I have shipped the bag and am awaiting my refund.

Bought this to carry R5 and 2 small lenses while hiking around in Iceland. Hard to use side flaps as they want to close rather than allow easy access. Zippered pockets on inside of the flaps are fine, but slide ins do not keep material secure unless bag is vertical. The outside pockets could be larger/deeper to accommodate waterbottle or travel tripod. Yes, there are securing straps, but not that easy to unsecured if in wet or cold climates. Not much room in the bag for gear if you want to leave room for any clothing, gloves, etc. The flap zipper also gets snagged on the corner of the main flap when trying to zipper close the side flap with one hand so your gear won't fall out. High quality material build makes it a bit stiff. Not a plus if you are in wet conditions and wanting to quickly access your camera, shoot and then return it.
Not a fan of the front cross strap between the two shoulder straps..Difficult to secure to the other strap and then feels like a choke hold once attached and it was in a lowered position.

I am a Hawaii photographer and was looking for a backpack that looked professional, was easy to use, and could withstand some sand and rain. I went for the backpack over the sling because sometimes I gotta climb around lava rocks at the beach and wanted something more stable. This bag checked all the boxes and was initially awesome, but as I used it more I found one major flaw that made me return it.
The bag is extremely hot when worn with both straps on. Specifically, the element where you would slide a suitcase handle through is dense and heavy (probably to withstand lots of use on a suitcase) and when worn on a hot day it doesn't breathe at all. I have been using backpacks on shoots for several years now and have never sweat through a shirt, but with this bag I was 4 for 4. Kind of embarrassing to shoot with a giant sweat circle on your back.
Everything about this bag was awesome, all the little details and usability was great so I would say if you live in a cool environment then this bag is 5/5, but if you live in hot or tropical areas beware.

Incredibly well laid out pack, so thoughtfully designed and super intuitive to use, it's almost as if the backpack is reading your mind when you're trying to find a spot to store something! The origami dividers are genius. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is that it's pretty uncomfortable. It will definitely wear your shoulders out quickly, especially if you're using it to carry a larger laptop in addition to a camera rig. Kind of feels like you've got a piece of plywood on your back when carrying a laptop. The silver lining is I guess this can help you with your posture. I've used the Tenba Axis, and the Nomatic PM 25L, they both felt extremely awkward to carry, and their dividers were a total pain, however their shoulder straps were more comfortable for hiking and longer travel days. As far as the Peak Design goes, I can't see myself using this for travel, or in any situation where I'm going to be carrying around my gear for longer than an hour at a time. For day to day use it's great and very well designed. I just hope they'll address all of these issues with a new design down the line.

Loved the bag but I had to replace it twice due to the zipper breaking. Unfortunately I was over seas traveling and it had to get a replacement there.

I tried PD everyday backpack 20l through nok tryouts. I wanted to love it. All this time I had older generation bigger backpack and never reached for it except for longer trips when I had to bring camera with me. I kept thinking if only I get a smaller bag then I'll be able to use it as an everyday backpack. My kids are out of diapers so I don't need a diaper bag per se but need it to be a bag that provides easy access. Unfortunately peak design fell short. Getting anything in and out of it is an ordeal unless it is in the very top pocket under the flap. I struggled so much during my few days taking kids around town. I will not be purchasing it.
The quality is great but the bag isn't an everyday backpack it claims to be.

Purchased the V2 for trip to Iceland. Would have to agree with other reviews: This is a very nice travel backpack, but a nuisance for photography. The dividers are not stable and the switching from side to side to access is inefficient. I would suggest the PD create a tunnel box, fairly rigid that would go side too side, with dividers that could create four secure cubbies on either side.

I like the backpack. There are a couple of issues. 1. The chest strap does not stay taut. 2. the side pockets need pull tabs (or a little slot on the outside the you put your finger in to pull the pocket out) so you can put a water bottle (or anything) in them w/out sliding the object against your fingers (maybe I'm doing it wrong?)

I use this mostly for daily carry of a laptop, lunch + a few personal items. For that use case, it's a pretty nifty bag. The only issue, however is that even with modest loads, the shoulder straps (and useless sternum strap) are pretty uncomfortable. I've found the weight threshold of discomfort to be about two six packs + computer. Anything more than that had better not be for long.
Keep it light and you'll be fine. Mine is the 20L. Be wary of the larger version - that would be too easy to overload.

I bought the everyday backpack v2 a few months ago and have used it extensively. This backpack is really well designed but falls short (in my opinion) in three areas:
1. The straps are too thin and you can feel the weight of the items you are carrying after a few hours of use.
2. The design of sternum strap leaves a lot to be desired as it is dry fiddly to use.
3. The design of the internal dividers is very innovative but I believe the PD engineers should have designed them to be stiffer and more able to stand up and take the weight of the gear stowed when folded up. I do not feel very confident that my expensive camera gear is entirely protected when in transit. Incorporating these dividers into the camera cubes and making the cubes compatible with the Everyday Backpack as a self contained more protective solution is a much better idea.
Otherwise, I love PD products.

The function of this backpack is amazing and so are the materials, except the straps. They are too small from both a width perspective and there is not enough padding. I really want to love it but it is very hard to love something that is uncomfortable to wear.

I purchased the 20L version at a local store and loved it the beginning. However, I upgraded my laptop to the new M1 MacBook Air and it would turn on every time I placed it my bag. It appears a magnet within the bag triggers a wake sequence in the MacBook. I recognize this issue is not necessarily a design flaw by Peak Designs. However, I would like to see them revise the design in some way to address this. Unfortunately I had give up a bag I loved to find an alternative due to this issue.

It's a good bag but definitely not worth the money. I returned it.

I bought this backpack a week ago and on travel this week, yes I know - it's EDC backpack. Even though this backpack is for EDC, this backpack is super uncomfortable; shoulder straps are way too thin (barely any padding) and not wide enough to make it comfortable. I packed in 70-200mm lens, 35mm, Sony A6700, tiny tripod, on camera monitor, and couple batteries. If I loaded my laptop it would take it over the top in terms of being unbearably uncomfortable. Seems like tho 30L backpack is very tightly packaged compared to my regular 30L EDC backpack. Needless to say, the price point does not meet expectations of a good product. Looks great but that's about it! Now I'm stuck with this
