Love the Mont Blanc. Many folks don't like the heel area but for my narrow foot and issues with my heel sliding out of running shoes, the Mount Blanc is a perfect shoe for me. Good support, wider toe box, great traction for the trails, and a firm hold in the heel area to keep my heels from slipping. I would buy these again.

I am an Altra girl. I have run in (or tried) many Altra shoes. These are my favorite. I wore them on an 18 mile trail run out of the box with zero issues. No heel issues for me as others have noted.

The best trail runners from Altra yet. They are stable, fast, comfortable and attractive (deep teal.) I am very impressed with this shoe. I ordered the size based off the Altra size chart and the size chart is accurate. The ego max midsole is the best midsole yet. Soft but firm and bouncy. The upper is light and breathable. The heel is very comfortable even without socks but I always wear a bandaid on my heel the first 5 runs to prevent blisters while breaking them in. I run without socks because I live in the dessert and it's hot.
I couldn't be more happy with this shoe. I love them so much I purchased the coral one as well and sent them back. They are flourescent. The picture shows them as orange but the ones I received are neon! Horrible color. And they also stink like toxic glue. I don't know if they are legit altras or not. Stick with the teal.

I wear the mont blancs for all of my longer training runs on rugged trail. Rock plates tend to make my toes go numb, so I love that the cushion on these is just enough to protect my feet on hard & rocky routes. Usually I swap my shoes half way through an ultra, but I left the mont blancs on for the entirety of a 100k race. I'm planning on wearing them for my next ultra.
Pros: lightweight, grippy, breathable (I can dunk my entire foot and the sneaker dries rather quickly, so I just have to swap socks). SO comfortable, that I let the following cons go. I've always struggled to find a COMFORTABLE shoe, and these are it. So I'm sticking with.
Cons: I can't even count the number of times I have jammed my toes on rocks. There is zero protection for your toes with these shoes. A lot of little rocks and dirt get in through the ankle, I have to stop frequently to take the shoes off and dump debris out of them. When I first put these shoes on I was worried about the heel area, it never turned out to be a problem for me. But I can see it being disastrous for other runners. Lastly, the shoelaces suck.
All in all, my favorite trail shoe, I've logged plenty of miles in all sorts of weather and the mont blanc is still my favorite. Hoping that a v2 is in the works to fix some of the common quirks.

I ordered a pair of the red Mont Blanc's for a very technical trail race. I've never had an issue with needing to break in Altra shoes and these shoes were no exception. General advice states that one should never try out anything new on race day; I did not follow this advice. These shoes were noticeably light, had great traction and amazing energy return. I felt like a gazelle floating up the mountain and sticking to the terrain. I loved this shoes so much that I had to order another pair in blue so I could alternate two pairs. These are the perfect trail shoes for a fast and technical trail run. I would highly recommend these shoes! Before these shoes I'd race in superiors for trail races, but the Mont Blanc's have replaced these.
I've heard from many people that there is some heel slippage/rubbing and/or blistering, I did not have any of these issues. I run in mid calf socks, so rubbing is never an issue for me. I did not have any blisters post 25k trail race on my first use of these shoes.

I used to love the Olympus but these are my new go to trail runner!! My favorite part is going downhill in them. The toe area is so soft my toes feel like I'm running with socks on. No sore toes! I will chance less protection hitting a rock for the soft toe on the down. I swapped the laces so they stay tied since the ones that came with it came untied. Oh and the cushion that these have is just amazing!!!! The cons are so little and I love this shoe so much! Thanks Altra!!!

For long, technical/rocky trails these shoes are perfect. 25k race and up, I'd pick these.

I love the Mt Blancs, I really do. Nothing is more comfortable for my feet for running long distances. I recently reached out to customer care, about a rip in my shoes, probably, the 4th rip for as many pairs. All have been replaced under warranty (thank you!). This last pair I reached out 04/02/24. No response except the automated message. I've switched to Topo's, which I think is a shame. I've reached out again today, as a follow up email. I'm disappointed. At least if these shoes haven't lasted, you've responded and replaced them before.

I have worn the Time 2 for several seasons but did not like the 3 or 4 so I tried these. Oh man, I really wanted to love these shoes. I wore them for several trail runs to test them out and ultimately, the thin fabric around the ankle and on the tongue of the shoe just chewed me up. In addition, the laces and tongue are SO SHORT! It wore the skin off of the top of my foot on a 15 mile run. I was hoping to have these in my starting lineup for the racing season this year but they just didn't make the cut. The cushion, wide toe box and grip were excellent, it's just the fabric that caused my issues. :( The search continues.

I've rarely needed to break in Altras over the past 8 years, these were just wrong for my feet/body. Immediate blister on my heel (even with heel lock lacing) and odd pains in my calves and the arch and outer aspects of my feet. Gave them a couple runs but they didn't provide any more cushioning than my Lone Peaks (actually were rather stiff). Was really hoping for that same grip but an ease on tired feet. Returned with no issues except disappointment in my search for a shoe to meet all my needs.

I love the look and design of this shoe. I like the low and slim comfort around the ankle. But the tag is sewn to the arch of the insert and it gave me a blister on my first run! Bad idea!

Bought this shoe thinking it would be good high cushion shoe for a couple spring ultras I have planned.
These shoes did not disappoint! My first race, Perdue Outing Club Adventure Race went great in snowy conditions.
A few things I love about these shoes: 1. The mesh parts of the upper. This means water drains out of the shoes instead of staying in the shoes. (Let's face it waterproof trail shoes only work if the water is more shallow than the tops of your shoes ;) 2. They're lightweight 3.Comfortable fit that holds on to your foot. (This means the tips of your toes don't get beat up on steep downhills.
A couple things I would change are: 1. The shoe laces. They're short and they come untied easily 2. On a shoe marketed as a "technical trail shoe" I would have expected bigger lugs/deeper tread. They did pretty well in the snowy conditions (Thanks Gortex!) so it's more of a potential improvement opportunity than a negative.

Ran road, the Manitou Incline and Barr Trail in my new Mont Blancs, then texted my friend: " Mont Blancs are like angels cupping your feet. Buy and don't look back."

I love Altras but have not loved the Lone Peak styling and color for a couple of seasons. I tried these, and they do not disappoint. I'll have to see how they do on long trail runs but so far for hikes they are very good.

I truly love these shoes & have bought them in every color I could find. The toe box is perfect, they have just enough stability & cushion, and I have even started wearing them for road running.

Just a very comfortable walking and hiking shoe. I like the thicker sole so not as likely to feel the bumps on the trail.

These shoes were great on the trail. They held up on the gravel really well and in the mud too. I didn't slide at all. They are super Lite weight. And I was able to wash them off the the bathtub with no problems.

Nice roomy toe box, cushion is fantastic but doesn't feel heavy. Nice and light feeling on the tread and trails. Stocking up on this design.

I wore these right out of the box and did an 11.3 mile technical trail run with steep climbs and descents. I had been having some heel pain and the extra cushion really helped, but I could still feel the trail. That was my biggest concern trying new shoes, since nobody wants to go tumbling down a rocky trail, or roll an ankle at the very least. But the feel, grip, and fit are all perfect! I had no problem with the heel slipping.
