I actually had left Altra shoes for a few years because I was finding the quality wasn't holding. But these ones caught my eye (obviously they are sooo flashy) and decided to try them out. WHOA I total game changer for me! Coming back for round two with a less flashy pair! Well done Altra!

Purchased the Mont Blanc in the late spring and have completed nine 14ers in these shoes with no foot pain, no blisters, and no heal issues. It is necessary to have a good traction shoe, comfort, and foot security when hiking 14ers and these shoes deliver. I love these shoes and would buy again (I actually may now get the BOA laces when those are released).

I've been struggling with foot pain until I found these! I just completed a 4 day backpack into the Grand Canyon and my feet felt great the whole time, and that's a first for me! They are lightweight and I didn't worry if my feet got wet as they would dry quickly. They gave me just the right amount of support. I highly recommend them and just bought another pair in the other color so I always have a fresh pair with my hiking gear. I'm doing an 11 day hike in September (starting in Mont Blanc believe it or not) and these will be my go to shoe without a doubt.

I love this shoe and that's saying a lot. I have a wonky left foot--weak metatarsals, hammer toes and in most shoes my left foot wants to curl up and die. Because of this I've had a hard time finding shoes that allow me to run more than a few miles comfortably. I've worn Altra on and off for years and have liked some, never loved one until now. I sort of see what people are saying about the heel. The first few runs in these my left foot worked its way out of the heel a bit. I could tell these were great shoes though and did not give up. I tried taking the insoles out and WOW, this made a huge difference. The shoes cradle my feet but give me plenty of toe room, the cushion is good-not too soft, and super responsive! The upper is light, breathable and minimal. Unlike most Altra shoes these have a bit of a toe-spring; this helps my forefoot spread out rather than curl under. I've always loved vibram soles and love them here. These shoes work just as well on the road as on trails. I will be ordering a second pair. I hope Altra does not change this shoe because of all the complaints about the heel...I have had no trouble with it since I removed the insoles-they are not needed and actually hinder this shoe. The Mont Blancs are also the best looking shoe Altra has made IMO.

I've been running in the last 2 versions of the Olympus trail shoes, putting in countless miles on rocky mountain trails and dirt roads while training and racing mountain trail ultras over the past 2 years. The Mont Blanc is a refreshing alternative -- it is much lighter, a slightly narrower in the toes, and feels much faster than the current Olympus models. I haven't been on lots of wet rocks just yet, but the Mont Blanc feels grippy on trails. Altra has removed all extra weight and fabric from the Mont Blanc, put in a more comfortable tongue and a minimalist heel cup. It was comfortable right out of the box, and I tackled a 27 miler on day 3 in the shoes, with barely a blister. There is a place for each shoes in my shoe arsenal. The Olympus is wider in the toe box, has more protection for rocks and I suspect it will hold up better over the long term, as the Olympus is just more rugged. I think the Olympus will continue to be my go-to trail training shoe. By contrast, the Mont Blanc, is my version of an ultra trail "race day" and speed day shoe -- light and fast, but still able to handle trail conditions -- and it just looks super fly! These are both pricy, but worth it for the foot shaped footbed fit.

I really like this shoe! After returning Olympus 4 (too wide, clunky) & Timp 3 (uncomfortable, shifty tongue), the Mont Blanc is lightweight, agile & fun to run in; my husband likes his MBs, too. Heel is narrow, but good fit for me; I would totally buy another pair!

So happy I finally got my feet in a pair last week. It is safe to say this is everything I hoped it would be! They're light, fast with a nice airy upper. Overall, the fit is great and I can't wait to race in these!

Perfect fit, cushion, stability, weight. and look. Only problem is the tongue doesn't stay in place and bunches up at the bottom

As much as I love running trails, I've struggled with finding the perfect shoe for longer distances as someone who had major foot surgery. The uneven terrain poses a challenge to my surgical scar and altered biomechanics. I've gotta say, Altra outdid themselves with the Mont Blanc. While more cushioned than my usual trail runner (the Superior), they don't feel bulky at all, and are phenomenally lightweight. The shoes conform to your feet and don't slip at all, even when traversing technical terrain. I would definitely recommend them if you're looking for a longer distance trail shoe! PROS: Super lightweight, especially for the amount of cushion Great cushion for longer mileage Don't feel bulky at all No heel or forefoot slippage CONS: Might lighten your wallet since you'll want multiple pairs ;) If you haven't checked them out yet, you'll definitely want to - they will change your running game! (disclaimer: I purchased these at a discount provided by Altra)

Ran in these on the flats, steep uphills and speedy descents, and these Mont Blancs did not disappoint! They have cushion, comfort, and support in all the right places without the hot spots or weight of those thicc boi shoes. The fit is unlike the Superiors and Long Peaks that I am used to, so I was nervous about them at first, but they performed so well right out of the box, and I ran 7 miles in them with no issues whatsoever. My legs also felt so fresh in them today after a long run in other shoes yesterday. Very excited to have these in my shoe lineup for upcoming ultras!

I never knew a trail shoe could have such awesome grip!! I've ran on snowy and icy trails for years, just assuming I need crampons for any hope of maintaining a stride. The Mont Blancs offer better grip than any crampon could provide! I was able to maintain stride through snow, slick ice, and slush. The cushion is incredible and yet the shoes feel light off the ground. The best part, though, is that my feet stayed completely dry after 2 hours of soaking wet conditions. Definitely would recommend for trail runners of all conditions of training and racing.

Absolutely love these shoes! Super lightweight, they were designed with distance racing in mind. The shoe is snug to the mid food while still maintaining the wide toe box which Altra is known for. The grip held up well on snow, ice, dirt and gravel and the cushion is comfortable enough for even the longest runs. I did initially experience the heel slip that other reviews have mentioned, but I tied them a bit tighter than I normally would and have had no issues with slippage while running. I received this shoes at a discount and I am 100% planning to use them at my ultra races this year!

Here's the skinny-AMAZING! The outsole is the perfect amount of grippy and sticky. Superb cushion, lightweight and feather like, comfortable and breathable upper, beautiful colorways. More narrow than the normal Altra, but not in a bad way. I can see these being a staple for all terrain, and all distances. They're GOOOOD

I wore them on back to back trail runs this weekend and they are awesome! No break in time, no hot spots. I actually love the heel cup. It has great padding on each side and doesn't cause any friction. It allows the foot to work as it should! The traction performs well on ice and snow, and the feel underfoot is perfect, not too soft with great rebound response. The upper does take some getting used to because it's so flexible, and true to ALTRA shoes, the toe box is foot shaped allowing my toes to spread. I hope it holds up to rugged mountain terrain! This is def going to be in my race shoe rotation. I was provided these at a discount, and am so grateful to have been able to test them out! They are fast!

As an Altra Red Team member I received these shoes at a discount. That being said, I really love the lightweight, yet durable, design of this shoe. They handle miraculously well while traveling over snow and ice. The Mont Blancs also drain easily and dry quickly, which is vital in trail races that have puddles and/or river crossings. The cushioning is also a definite attribute because it will help tired legs continue to conquer all the miles. My only con is that the heel rubs when I have my custom orthotics in my shoes. With the regular insoles, it feels just fine. For me the pros definitely outweigh the con. :)

The first time I wore this pair, I could feel a push or propel forward which is incredible! The width I like but the size/length seems a bit too large. I bought size 7.5 which is my typical size but it seems like 7 might fit me better.

The shoes are very comfortable. The only flaw was the tongue is sewn sideways and doesn't move. It is tolerable, but disappointing.

I wanted to love this shoe that felt like a second skin with support in all the right places upon first slipping on. Taking heed to others comments about the heel (which indeed felt a little less secure than the rest of the shoe), I laced in well with a heel lock and took off for a trial run. The shoe felt light and responsive and I was loving the experience, with the exception of the sloppy heel. I continued on for a bit, stopping to readjust, but less than 5 miles later my heels were shredded and no amount of readjusting was ever going to fix that. I'm so disappointed. Except for the heel, this shoe was superior. I gave it 4 stars because even though it didn't work for me, it might be a non-issue for someone with a wider heel. I would recommend to try the shoe on and if your heel locks in secure, go for it.

A good shoe, but it doesn’t hold as tight to the heel as my go to Lone Peak and isn’t as secure on technical trails.

These shoes are so close to perfect. My main issues are durability which tends to be an issue with any Altra shoe I've tried and the heel is also too wide and it slips more than other models.

Great shoes but I needed to loop the laces and tie them extra tight to keep them from eating my socks, which is not normal for my favorite brand. The laces are plenty long enough for this, which is great.

I have been running in Altras for about 4 years. I started with the Lone Peaks and have graduated to the Mont Blancs for my up coming 100 mile race. The Mont Blancs are so freaking comfortable!

Did a 25m trail run and 50k trail race since purchasing. I love the feel underfoot and the grip the vibram outsole provides. Only complaint is the fit through the heel being a little insecure. No blisters or issues for me though!
