I have been wearing the Altra Rivera 2 sneakers for walks/runs in Central Park. These sneakers are so lightweight, comfortable, and supportive. I also love the style and would definitely buy these sneakers again and again!

The best shoe I've ever run with. Light, supportive and cushioning. It feels like it hugs your feet, offering all the support and cushioning you need to absorb the impact.

I am really enjoying Altra Rivera 2, this is my 3rd pair of Altra shoes and I like this model a lot, the balanced cushioning is supportive on all different kinds of surfaces, the sole is grippy, and the toe bed is a perfect width for me.

Just got them so I can't comment on their performance or durability, but they're very comfortable. I did end up going up a full size from my usual size - I think a half size up *might* have been sufficient, but it wasn't available. So I'd say it runs a half to full size small.

Too small for orthotics and the thicker heel makes a shoehorn necessary. I comfortably wear the older Rivera with orthotics and they slip on easily. Rivera 2 is smaller. It would be good fit if I didn't use orthotic. Unfortunately, I am returning Rivera 2.

I'm a big Altra fan and wear the Lone Peaks and Timps for hiking and running. I bought the Rivera for an around town shoe. Love the wide toe box and the cushioned sole. My only criticism is that the upper mesh shows every stain so they did not retain their new look for long.

Definitely slimmer (as advertised) than what I'm used to with the Torin. I got a half size up but wish I had gone a full size up as I like a little more room in the toes. Fit well around the forefoot but I wouldn't be mad about just a bit more of a toe box. Got the black and I do like how they look, definitely more attractive than my salmon pink torins.

I'm a waitress so it's hard to find a really great shoe..the on clouds are really great but I always have to buy insoles for them ..these are greatly padded perfect for my feet and very beautiful colorings..the strings are pretty as well so far there not tight on my feet the insoles are perfect and if they last longer then two months with my job these will be my permanent shoes over oncloud.thank you so much for trying to fit everyone's needs after reading everyone's comments.there is always the perfect shoe you just got to mix it up a little..

I have the same shoe in a different color—size 9–that I bought in a local store. This shoe is identical to my other one—a size 9–and I usually wear size 8 or 8.5 depending on the shoe. I was told to order a whole size larger and that was good advice. I like the shoe and am keeping it.

I am a very solid 8-1/2 in most brands of shoes, and typically wear an 8-1/2 in Altras as well. Based on other reviews, I initially ordered a size 9 in these. They were too small--with my toes rubbing against the toe of the shoe. I sent the 9s back and replaced them with a 9-1/2 instead. The Riveras are definitely narrower than other Altras I've worn, and even the 9-1/2 (I've NEVER worn a 9-1/2 in any shoe! Ever!) feels a little bit snug. My first run (a quick 3 miles) I ended up with blisters on my heels. For some reason the back heel of these shoes is stuffed full--much puffier than other Altras I've worn. I normally LOVE Altras for running. These are... okay. Better than some other brands, but not the best Altras I've ever owned.

So my knees stopped hurting completely as soon as I started running in these shoes, which I love so much! BUT even though the sneaker seems to fit, the tips of my toes are getting irritated as though they are too small. But I fear if I order up, which I was about to do, that they will just be too big around the heel, etc. so I wonder if there is a better model for me, but really wish I could resolve this toe issue...

I've been wearing Altra Lone Peak and Duo (not made any longer). Rivera is slimmer width than normal for Altra. I called Altra directly looking for help, and they said that.

This is my first pair of Altras and I'm glad I tried them. These felt great right out of the box. I went up half a size so I could wear them with socks. The cushioning is good for walking and the wiggle room in the toe box feels good. Hope to do more walking now that I have comfortable and cute shies to wear! Thank you Zappos for your excellent customer service and free shipping!

At this time of year, I walk about 30 or miles a week in my new Altras. These are probably my fourth or fifth pair. I could use a little more cushioning in the sole, but over all They are very soft and comfortable. Love the color.

Got them for the gym to replace my escalante's since they didn't have any lateral support. They were a little better but ended up returning them and decided to order the crossfit solstice style. They were definitely at least a half size too small. Also didn't like that you could see through the light coral/white enough that you can't wear dark socks or socks with writing on the top.

I went and had my feet measured. I found I am now I size 7 in this shoe, 6 1/2 in most. I have been purchasing shoes 1/2 size too small. I think that may have been why there was a discomfort in the arch. I ended up buying the size 1/2 size larger at the retail store since they waited on me. I have a narrow heel and wide toe box. These were accommodating, although a bit unattractive compared to other brands. I have morton's neuroma and happy with the lower heel drop.

These are probably pretty typical of Altra, except for the room at the second toe. Mine is longer than the big toe and in this style, it comes to the end of the shoe and might cause problems after a long walk. Otherwise, these are the usual roomy toe box that Altra provides, and are cushy enough for long walks.

I ordered these not realizing they had Altra’s “narrow” foot shape. Tried them on and didn’t love them— although the shoe wasn’t super narrow in my opinion. My feet prefer the classic foot shape I think.

I recently had knee surgery and these shoes were recommended for their flat and stable stance which I love. They are very comfortable. I ordered a half size bigger than I typically wear and my toes are at the ends which Isn’t ideal but I put a lot of miles on my shoes and will order the next pair even bigger.

I ordered a half size up but my toes were still at the end of the shoe, will reorder going a full size up. I really liked the great cushioning without the thick sole. Also I appreciated the plainer colors that don't draw attention.

My wife liked this. it was comfortable and we totally agree with the zero height philosophy. Altra is making some good shoes. We'll have to see the quality of it. This is a good shoe so far for court, running and around town.
