My first pair of Riveras were worn to the ground. I was apprehensive to try the 2 because of the reviews. I love these even more. I purchased the yellow and they look so good, but they feel even better! They don't feel any more narrow than the originals. These are my favorite Altra shoe so far!

I just began running in these and the results are remarkable! Comfortable and so light!

This is the only shoe I don't have to be careful to break-in. No blisters or sore spots. Light and airy. Supported. I love them! I bought two pairs, one for running and another for day-to-day. Will buy again and again!

I love this shoe! I know there are mixed reviews with it having the slim foot shape, but I honestly really like it. The toe box is still wide and roomy with more than enough room for my toes, but it's slimmer around my mid-foot and heel - keeping my foot secure. This being said, I have narrow feet so I need a slim shoe as is, but like having a wider toe box. I started wearing barefoot shoes only within the past year. I had to have reconstructive foot surgery on my left foot to build an arch. I'm very flat footed, over pronate, and had a very poor bone structure in my foot. After my surgery, and during my recovery, I was intrigued with the idea of barefoot shoes and got a few pairs of Altra's. Ended up loving the Rivera 2's! I had some nerve damage along the outside of my foot and my pinky toe is super sensitive to sensations/pressure. So the spacious toe box, and soft upper of the Rivera, was much needed. I love how it has the benefits of barefoot shoes (wide toe box, zero drop, flexibility), while still providing cushion (which is something I desperately needed while recovering from surgery). I rotated two pairs from mid-Spring through the Summer and now into Fall. That includes a weekend to Chicago, a week of walking through Disney World and standing at a conference multiple days, as well as a vacation with a lot of walking. Bottom line - two of these were my primary shoe for all activities and work all summer. The soles are wearing off so I won't be wearing them once it starts snowing, but they're so breathable it's almost too chilly to wear them anymore so the timing worked out well. I can't wait to get a couple new pairs next spring once the weather starts warming up. Please don't stop making this style!

This is my 3rd pair of Riveras and 1st of the newest version. I LOVE them!! I need the wide toe box for my lovely bunion on 1 foot, and I like that the newer version has a slimmer fit around the middle of my foot. The new laces look very cool too! I will be wearing these in the upcoming Chicago Marathon.

I used these shoes for everything, from walking my dog to going to the gym. The are so versatile and comfortable. I usually have difficulty finding shoes that work for me but these are great and the color is beautiful.

These shoes are a game changer!!! I absolutely love them and I feel like I don't have knee pain like I used to- these shoes are magic and have made all the difference!

I've had issues with achilles tendonosis for a few years. I've been using Plantar Fascia support insoles in all of my shoes. I came across these shoes 3 months ago. They were so comfortable. I have narrow feet and usually wear a 9 or 9.5. I did have to size up to a 10 which is unusual for me. I found that I don't even need to use the insole inserts with these shoes. I'm having zero issues with my achilles and can walk for miles in them. They're so light too. I feel like I have so much energy and bounce, and perhaps am getting more fit from loving walking in them. I bought a second pair already and would buy more colors if I liked the green or pink. I'm hoping they come out with more traditional colors of this style (I have the black and the blue) and other slim fit shoes that I like.

I love Altra shoes, I've owned many Altra styles and cushion levels over the years and I really find that I like the Rivera the best. They remind me of my first altra Ones, with a slipper like feel with cushion. They hold up great over many miles. I don't get any hot spots, the tongue cushion and ankle cushion are appropriate. All around great running shoe!

I've been running in the original Rivera model for the past six months, so I wasn't expecting the Rivera 2 to feel much different but it's truly a 'new and improved' version of an already great shoe. The cushioning feels... smoother? Better balanced? Both? There's a real difference you'll feel as soon as you slip your foot into the shoe. The Altra Footshape and balanced cushioning makes for a comfortable, energetic ride. Didn't think I could love my Altras more - but the Rivera 2 proved me wrong. The only area of improvement could be the laces, which seem to come undone easily. It's nothing a double knot can't fix, though. And really, if the only thing that could be improved upon is the laces... you've found a great shoe!

This is my first Altra shoe but am so mad I waited so long as I'm a huge fan now! They fit and perform so well on my runs! The cushion is what really grabbed my attention as I put this shoe on and immediately felt like they were made for my foot. The weight and comfort of this shoe is incredible!

So my primary shoe after trying many zero drip shoes over the years has been the Rivera. I just got these Rivera II and I'm so happy with the fit. It fits more snug in the foot but with actually more roomy and comfortable toe space than the original. And they are lighter. They are so comfortable and I'm so happy and may get another pair in a different color.

So far I have worn these shoes for a mid-paced road run, hill sprints, and hiking. The shoe felt good for all of those workouts so far. Pretty happy with the feel and comfort.

I've tried a few runs in my Rivera 2s so far and, like every Altra shoe I've ever tried, I really like them! The fit is great and I like that I can take them for runs on the roads or trails as I run on both frequently. The versatility of the shoe is also nice, they are comfy and cushioned enough for everyday training runs but also light enough for to use for some low-key speedwork.

In a world where most running shoes are getting bulkier, I appreciate the design of the Altra Rivera 2. They feel slim and comfortable and also soft yet responsive. I wore them for easy runs, long runs, and some up tempo paced work and really enjoyed them. Can't wait to keep wearing them out!
