I purchased the size 11 in the all weather model and kept its shape and fit. Lone Peak in black regular has stretched and is now one size too big. The return period has expired.

I bought this pair of shoes as something lighter than regular hiking boots for backpacking trips. For my first trip with them they were fine: mostly comfortable and pretty grippy. However on the second trip, the shoe ripped where the upper fabric part meets the rubber sole. I am super disappointed in these shoes as they are no longer usable after only about 100 miles of usage. Very misleading for something advertised as a tough trail shoe.

Everyone talks up Altra, so I gave these shoes a shot (newest model when purchased). Toe and heal started falling apart in less than a month of normal use, approx. 50 miles. Had to use shoe goo to fix

This is my 3rd lone peak. Coming from the 4.5 and 5 this is by far the worst I've had in shoe in awhile. Heel cup does not hold shape "stays compressed" and toe is already falling apart @ Mile 50

I bought these shoes for their overall comfort which is nice for the fit ( I have wide feet), however after only wearing them maybe a dozen times for walking, an eyelet tore on the right shoe. The shoes have never been wet and are in overall great condition, as all the pictures I have submitted here (and to them) show (look at the soles, they are not hard worn at all), and I did not exert too much force on the shoelace to have the eyelet tear, so this is clearly a manufacturer's defect. After submitting all of the required documentation and receipt to the Altra Warranty dept. within the required timeframe for replacement or voucher, literally 3 minutes later Kayla S. from Online Customer Care said their "Careful Review" of my claim resulted in the determination of "Natural Wear and Tear". What could have been a customer for life for Altra depending on how they handled this (as I was happy with the shoes besides this incident) has now resulted in a loss of a customer for life for them! After owning many hundreds of pairs of shoes in my lifetime, in my experience eyelets don't tear on quality brands.

The most painful shoe I've ever worn. To soft, causes and ankle rolling, and almost feels like you're running in sand. It's as if they were designed to be painful. Before everyone says I need to "get used to them" or "strengthen my feet". I've been running in cross country flats aka zero drops for a decade plus.

Like all modern Altras-- too narrow in the toe-box. Shame. Will no longer be buying Altras.

I am sure these are good for something, but running in the desert just ain't it. Tried these on three separate mountains, including a (walking) hike and I was sliding all over the trail. Lugs are too small and grip is too weak to be useful on granite or loose gravel.
Please bring back the King MT.

I have had four pairs of Altras. I bought Lone Peak 1s when they were starting out as a company. Their quality and customer service are just atrocious now. I’m talking sole delaminating within a couple months and a couple dozen miles, and them saying it’s “normal wear and tear”.
This is completely unacceptable. Will never buy Altras again.

Shoes felt too hard on the soles. Very uncomfortable.. I sent them back waiting for refund.

I don't enjoy leaving reviews and only do so when things are especially abhorrent. This is one of those times. I have tried various minimalist shoes for trail running over the last 10+ years, but these have to be the worst. They are functionally deficient (toe box is too amorphous, making them a perpetual tripping hazard) and are sadly the product of poor craftsmanship (I ripped the side seam in < 6 months of moderate use). With so many other shoes out there to choose from, don't buy these.

I am a long-time Lone Peak fan (since 2.0) and I'm so disappointed in the lack of quality of materials on the Lone Peak 5.0. The upper of mine actually ripped through from low-to-moderate running use (20 or fewer miles a week) in less than a year. On top of that, the tread of the soles has worn down completely in some key areas in the same timeframe. The materials being used for these shoes are way to low-quality to validate the purchase price of the shoes. I understand needing to maximize your margins, but this was too far. I loved Lone Peaks, but I can't replace them every few months; I'm just glad they didn't fall apart on me when I was far from home.

New to Altra this was my first pair and they fit well were comfortable, but that only lasted about one month. Was using these to section hike the AT in Pa it's known for rocky trails. My feet would hurt after about 10miles due to the foam collapsing. I would feel every rock and pebble. I tried thicker insole and that really helped but then I removed the insole and felt how thin the foam was. About 1/8th inch. And after one month of use. I never had a pair of shoe "wear" this fast. I reached out to the warranty department only to be told that they consider this normal wear and tear. I could see if it was 6 month or even a year later but we are talking about a little over one month of use. Luckily I bought them from "another store" so I'll return them and won't be buying Altras again.

My podiatrist introduced me to Altra and I was ecstatic. A really wide foot shoe. But I had to toss them after 3 months because they ruined my achilles tendon. First time in 7 years of regular running. Why does Altra not make running shoes with the original shape, in wide, and with a heel drop? Zero drop shoes don't work for everyone (although I see it does for some reviewers). I had to go back to Asics which is not as wide but at least it doesn't injure me. How do I know that this was the problem? Because when the pain set in, I went to my physical therapist and he immediately identified the problem and set me on course. Note that the detailed description above does NOT mention zero heel drop. Be careful when buying these shoes.

LP6 did not meet my expectation for quality, lifespan or warranty guarantee. I Purchased LP6 in 2022 to replace last year's LP5. Within the first 150 miles a heal hole developed in the LP6, even while using a runners lock and properly tying / untying each use.
Quality: The LP5 from 2021 lasted over 700 miles through trail running and 8+ day back country hikes on the coast and Rockies. LP6 in 2022 developed a hole within 150 miles. It is unclear whether pandemic sourcing, profit, or supply chain issues have faltered the previously superior product.
Lifespan: LP5 lasted greater than 700 miles, LP6 less than 150. My LP5 have no signs of internal deteriorations.
Warranty: Claim was rejected as it was deemed improper fit / heel slippage. Elevating the claim for a second review and explaining the significant usage/experience I have with the Lone Peak models, it was rejected again with the same explanation.
Overall: I no longer recommend Altra shoes for those looking to use the product for intended uses of trail running and the back country. If you are seeking a comfortable shoe for casual urban strolls, this may be more for you.

My pinky toe ALWAYS blows out. And I have to get a half size down. The lone peak 6, in brown, is more orange than brown. This will be my last pair. I've owned 7 pairs because my feet are wide and the shoe is comfortable. But I never get more than 200 miles in these shoes before they are replaced.

I finally had the money to purchase a new pair of shoes. I tried on a pair of LP6's. I was horribly disappointed. The new version no longer fits my feet. The toe box is slightly narrower, enough to feel rubbing on my pinky toe immediately. At the same time, it was also made longer, so I have too much room in front of my toes. The bottom has also been changed. It feels less neutral and caused my feet to pronate inward. This wasn't happening with the 5's. Thankfully, I still have some tread on my LP5's, but I don't know what I will do moving forward. The LP5's have been the only shoes to fit my feet in over 10+ years.
I have come to understand that this is a disappointing longstanding trend with Altra. I have heard that earlier versions of the shoe used to be wider in the toe box. As new versions came out they got narrower. Indeed, the LP4's were too narrow for me. It wasn't until the they came out with a wide width on the 5's that they came close to fitting. I say close, because they still don't fit perfectly. The heel is too wide for me, but I can live with it. As I indicated earlier, they have been the best fitting shoe for me in over a decade. The 6's have continued the trend of disappointing and losing customers; at least those if us with more of a unique fit.

Yesterday I tried out my new Altra Lone Peak 6 on a trail that has 3 rock scrambles. I've done the trail many times using Alta King Mt and never slipped or fallen.
One minute into the first scramble I stepped on a (dry) rock that is sloped at 35 degree. The LP6 slid then I went down. After the LP6 slipped the 3rd time I was taking baby steps.
When I got home I compared the King MT (Megagrip) and Lone Peak 6 (Maxtrac).
- King MT are flat / concave
- LP6 are rounded / convex.
The shape of the LP6 means outside lugs don't make and/or have much contact with the rock.
