These continue to be very sturdy hiking shoes but are a bit too bulky for my kids to enjoy wearing unless we are doing serious hiking.

I was ready to love these boots for my 8 year old son...they look nice and he finds them comfortable. However, after just a few outings in them one of the metal hooks for the laces (speed hooks) broke right off.

I am disappointed in my new hikers. My feet are a little wide which is why I like to wear boys hikers. Perhaps these are more narrow than typical boys boots? Also the sole is very rigid with no flex at all as you walk. I would not recommend to anyone with slightly wider than average feet.

It's cute and looks durable, but it runs about half a size smaller than regular llbean shoes. When I tried mine at home it felt okay, but once you get moving for a long distance walk you feel the squeeze. I had blisters on my toes. The problem is I am stuck with this pair now that I have worn it. So, get half a size bigger if you want it to fit comfortably.

After only few days of using these boots for school, my seven year old boy complained today his big toe was hurting and when I looked, he had blisters in both big toes and on both of his pinky toes as well. I bought him his next shoe size (2) to leave enough room to grow so its not because it was too tight. I checked the boot and noticed there is not enough padding in the front section and you can feel the rubber shapes. I'm quite surprised and will go back to the store to return them. It might be an isolated boot that was not well made but I'm not happy with sending my son to school with 4 band-aids on his little toes.

My son was not thrilled with this years 80's color selections this year, we are not sure why they changed them. Overall he found the boots comfortable and somewhat waterproof. We got them for a week at camp and when he returned the insides where wet. He never stepped in water that came over the top of the boot so we believe it must have leaked in through the sides. I gave them a 3 rating for the color and for being more water resistant than waterproof.

I read the reviews that the sizing was correct for previous purchasers. . . But the size 5/european size 38 we got for my daughter who usually wears a european 37-38 fit like a kids size 3.5 maybe 4 (thats my size. . . But I am not interested in pinkish boots). Sizing is way off!

As a huge fan of the older style and colors, these new ones are cut lower in the back and the colors are too bright as I am a grown up with small feet. The older ones were the best feeling and durable boot I bought in a long time. They had excellent reviews as these are starting to get. But as the person that actually wears them, why change a great item. Ok to offer in a catchy color for the younger at heart, but you basically eliminated the older kids and adults.

Foot is wide enough but not well contoured. Ankle area has no shape either. No support side to side and the laces are placed in such a way that they did into your tendons. Returning ASAP. We tried the women's Gortex leather wide boots. However, they were so narrow they hurt to even stand in them. Big bummer as Bean's has been reliable since I bought my first pair of chinos in 1979. Also your flannel fitted sheets are crummy. Three sets we bought in 1995 lasted 25 yrs. But three new ones only lasted a season before they all ripped in the same spot. We have since moved on from Bean sheets.

I'm a small adult always hoping to find a child's shoe or boot that works. This boot does not work. It is stiff, no arch support and not warm. All 3 qualities should be there, even for kids. I should have sent them back but kept hoping they would work. They don't.

The boots are really cute. BUT. they are not suitable for a 5 year old. They are hard to get on and a nightmare to lace. I'm returning them

We wore this shoe about 5 times. Laces cut through after such a short time. Terrible quality.

Purchased this shoe in Blue for my son (Size 1). Were very happy with purchase and fit seemed good. Liked the high ankle support. On the first wear, one of the lace hooks cracked. It did not separate from the shoe, the metal physically cracked in half. Exchanged for another pair and the same issue happened again, to the same hook in the same spot. Very Disappointing, we did not get to test grip or waterproofness. Did not exchange again, went for a different brand from a different outfitter.

I bought these for my 2 children. Blue for my son and purple for my daughter. Before I decided to buy, I read the reviews and I thought it would be great for wet/cold winter and early spring based on the reviews. Well, Now we used it few days ago to go out in the snow thinking they are waterproof and keep their feet dry...I was wrong. After just spending 30 minutes outside when we came in the shoes were so wet inside. They were so wet that made my children's socks so wet. Although they look sturdy, and I love how they look, now I plan to return them as they are not waterproof at all.
