These boots are great! We are on our second pair; just because he needed the next size! They fit true to size. They really hold up very well; they keep your feet very dry. We actually used them for snow boots last year!

Bought them without her present... and she loves them. That rarely happens. She is picky. They fit great and clean up great too. A great hiking, camping, winter wear shoe.

Fit was true to size. I would purchase these boots again.

We bought these boots for our three daughters two years ago. We bought new pairs this summer. The girls are ages nine and seven and seven. Our eldest daughter tells me the boots are very Comfortable after a full day of hiking. She says the one downside is that if you don't lace them properly your feet might slide forward and crunch your toes. They are also waterproof. The girls walked through every mud puddle they could find. Their feet were still dry at the end of the day. We have hiked in the Adirondacks and in the Catskill Mountains with these boots. The boots go great with smart wool socks.

This is the second pair of these boots I've purchased for my very active , outdoor-lovin' son. He is 10 (soon to be 11) and is a magnet for dirt and grime. I purchasd these boots for him to wear at Cub Scout Resident camp as well as other camping events. We live in western PA so the weather is quite variable (even in the middle of summer it can be cool and damp) These boots are great. They keep his feet dry and are comfortable enought to be worn all day without issue. I also have a similar pair of boots for myself from L.L. Bean woman's footwear and I love them too. I felt the sizing was good. They run a tad on the larger end of the scale so I measured my sons foot using the directions from the sizing chart and then chose the size closest to what he is currently wearing. I was tempted to size up in order to get more use out of them before he outgrows them, but I didn't want his foot to be sliding around on the inside. I'd say that the size 5 boot is closer to a 5 1/2 in regular shoe size, so there's a little room to grow. ** NOTE to LL Bean - I would prefer the shaft of the boot to be an inch or 2 higher to allow for better coverage when hiking through long , wet grass and spashing through puddles** This was not a deal breaker, the boots still performed well, but it would be nice to make that an option.

I purchased these boots after extensive shopping at both local sports stores and on-line camping supply stores. I even looked in a large camping/sports consignment shop for second hand boots. My 11 year-old son needed waterproof, over-the-ankle hiking boots for his first backpacking trip to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, as his feet are still growing. These are the best boots for the money! Waterproof (we tested this), good ankle support, comfortable, lightweight, good looking and tough. Thank you, L.L.Bean!

Grandson at camp reported that the boots fit well and he was happy to find they were waterproof because it rained when his group went hiking. I was happy with the very fast delivery time, since we had forgotten to order them before camp started. LLBean is always reliable.

Solid hiker, grandson wears them to town and to school, Only drawback for casual wear is the heavily cleated lug sole collects mud.

My daughter was going camping with her Girl Scout troop and needed hiking boots. I ordered these and we were so happy!! At first I was not happy with the color choices. I was hoping for something pink or girly. But the powder blue were actually pretty and she was happy with the color. the boots are very rugged and great quality---as you would expect from LLBean. I did look at some local stores in our area for boots before I ordered and was very disappointed at lack of selection. So glad I went with my instinct to order through LLBean!!!!

These boots are very comfortable, I also like them because they are waterproof and they keep my feet warm and they have good tracktion.

The boots look supportive and high quality, but we're returning these because the color is very different than what appears in the listing. Online it looks like the boots are mostly dark pink with a light pink interior and laces. In reality the inside of the boot and the laces are orange. And the boot itself was darker than expected. My kid hates orange, so we're looking for something else.

Better-made boots than many in kids' sizes, but come only in medium width so had to be stretched. Narrow both at toes and at ankles. Once stretched, they're good. Waterproofing seems fine.

This is the best boot I have! This is my fifth pair in 6 years! I alternate them for everyday use, walking and have a particular pair just for gardening. Just love them

This is my second pair and the sizing is a little smaller on this one. I wish I had ordered a size up, however the comfort is excellent and they required no break in time, unlike my winter hikers. These are well constructed and I expect will last equally as long as my original pair 10+ years.

My 8 year old likes these boots but says it's hard to run in them. The laces can also be hard for kids to tie themselves

Solid shoes but laces are 2x too long, you will need to wrap them or buy different laces.

Being an adult who needs children sized shoes, it's hard to find quality shoes that last that are also waterproof and comfortable. At work i walk 6 to 12 miles a day on all types of surfaces, and so far these boots are holding up well. They're comfortable and the only part that is falling apart is the covering on the tread, so it's a different color (no big deal). The fit is a little small width wise but length wise is true to size. Will update on how long they last.

In addition to summer hiking, we like to use these boots as spring or fall footwear for general outdoor playing. My 4 year old twins cannot tie shoes, so this means A LOT of shoe tying for mom every time they are in and out of the house! Other than that, we love the boots. The kids have found them comfortable for hiking, riding bikes, playing at the park. I bought a size up in fall and they wore thick socks. Now in spring they are wearing medium weight socks and they still fit. Their feet measure 17 cm and they are currently happy in size 12.

Bought these in red for my 4-year-old daughter. She outgrew the same ones that were toddler sized/styled with Velcro. I wish these still had the Velcro since she doesn't know how to tie her shoes yet and the metal hooks/tongue at the top seem to come together awkwardly. Yet, those suggestions aside, she does great hiking in these and they seem to keep her feet warm and dry.
