Perfect for hiking vacation! Ordered for both of my boys. They wore them in the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone with no break in time.

I've bought two pair of these boots for the past three years for my two grandsons and they are indestructible. The boys wear them to school, hiking and to play and ride their bikes- they get very hard use. In the spring when they've outgrown them my daughter gives them to her friends kids because they still have lots of use left. They also go into the washing machine and come out looking like new.
My only negative comment is that it is difficult to keep the laces tied even with double knots.

I bought these for my 2nd grader mostly to wear at Outdoor School. They kept her feet warm, dry and comfortable (except when she was playing in the stream). She wore them outside for six hours straight once a week and on our once a week, hour long hikes through Antietam National Battlefield without complaint. The shoes are still in good a condition. She has grown out of them. I will be purchasing another pair in the next size up for this year.

Got for two grandkids. They said no breaking in required and very comfortable. Also a reasonable price.

I bought this hiking shoe for my 7 yr old granddaughter who likes to hike with me. We just went on a 4 mile hike together up to a very high ridge with great views. On the way we walked through water, mud and over rocks. Her feet stayed dry and she liked how the boots felt on her feet. This is the second pair I have bought for her and when she outgrows these I will buy them again.

"Comfortable, perfectly waterproof, supportive, while not being restrictive feeling in the least", says Princess of Princess and the Pea notoriety.

I was looking for a pair of kids hiking boots for my 6-year-old daughter that lived up to its claims of being waterproof and L.L. Bean came through. My daughter has hiked through shallow streams and walked outside in the rain and her feet have stayed dry. My daughter finds them comfortable enough to wear to school on rainy days and the laces are the right length to double-knot. I'm very happy with my purchase and have recommended them to friends whose kids like to hike.

My son lives in boots in the winter, especially this very snowy winter, and his feet (very sweaty) do not do well in non-breathable shoes. (He gets cracked, dry, itchy skin on his toes that keeps him up at night.) He also wears out shoes and boots before he outgrows them! We got these boots and he wore them out of the store and has worn them every day since and his feet are looking so much better. I'm confident he won't wear these out any time soon. Now he just needs to learn how to tie his shoes.

These are keeping Ella's feet dry and comfortable on family hikes and outside all day at outdoor school. So glad I got these. I will buy again when she outgrows these. Great value.

Got these for my 7 year old grand-daughter. She loved the blue color. We've been hiking a couple of times so far and have not heard any complaints. They seem to be wearing well, and give her a good grip when climbing. Good boots.

A Christmas gift for Pat.I know he will enjoy his gift to be used with hiking poles. They seem very well made and a good shoe for hiking. Last year purchased hiking shoes, which he still wears. The boots seem more supportive as he gets more adventurous.

They are true to size. Went mountain climbing and got caught in torrential rain. The boots held up and kept my feet dry.

I go hiking with my grandsons (2 and 4 years old), so I bought them each hiking boots. They love them. They walk through puddles and mud, they climb on rocks, and they walk down rocky trails with them. Their feet don't get wet, the mud doesn't stick to them, and they climb and hike without sliding, unlike when they wore tennis shoes.

We took these on a six mile hike through a jungle to tidal pools. Well made and not too bulky for the 5 and 7 year old kiddos. They love them.

After trying many different brands we found these shoes and have been very impressed with the LL Bean hiking shoes for kids. Most brands are cheaply made and do not fit right - we want to go on long hikes and over rugged terrain with our kids. These are very comfortable (based on the lack of complaining) and durable. We purchased this one for the h2o proofing and have another child in the low top. Both are high quality and will be passed on to future generations :)

We are an active family and I am on the second pair of these for our three almost four year old daughter. There is great ankle support and breathability. She's gotten complements on her "really nice" hiking boots (we got the pink/purple color ones) and she is proud to wear them. The hook laces are a bit much for a three year old but she still needs help tying her shoes anyway so it is not a big deal. I will keep buying these as she grows for sure!

I bought these hikers for my son for the first time years ago. At that time, I was impressed by their adult-like styling and ruggedness. Nothing kiddie about these! We use them for hiking everything from easy paths to rock scrambles. My boy is now about to grow out of his 3rd pair, and I can say that they've all held up extremely well, able to be passed on to others looking nearly new. They're comfortable, slightly wide (he has wide feet), never give blisters or cause for complaints. Great job, LLBean! Don't ever discontinue these!

I purchased these boots for my 10 year old son. I am tired of brand name overpriced shoes that don't perform! I want him to enjoy being outside in all kinds of weather, so I'm always looking for gear that will keep him warm and dry. These boots do both very well. Thank you LL Bean! We will happily buy another pair when he outgrows these.

I fell and injured my left ankle and then broke one of the metatarsal bones in my right foot. The doc suggested that I invest in a good pair of hiking boots to protect my 65-year-old ankles. Originally I ordered a size five in the kids as I wear a size 7 in Women's but I found the five to be just a tad too small. I was able to return the fives and exchange for a size six (thank you!). They fit perfectly and are so comfortable. I am looking forward to breaking in the hiking boot for my right foot once I am out of this air cast. Highly recommend these boots!

I've purchased these for my son for three years in a row now and he loves them. Both colors are nice. They are a bit of a struggle for little fingers to tie, but they'll figure it out eventually. These are very well made and continued to look nearly new throughout the season. I've been able to pass them all down to his cousin. Not sure what the instructions might say, but I have used a silicone spray on them each year. He wears them in light snow without a problem. In terms of size, he wears a size 1 in various "name brand" sneakers and this year's hiking boots are also a 1. He has plenty of room in them, but generally wears a pretty thick sock, so a little room is needed. I highly recommend these.
