I bought the green and blue down jackets for my boys. The feel cheap/thin, but my children liked the lining. The zipper continuous got stuck. I had to return the blue jacket after 8 months because the zipper fell completely off. Fast forward to the second school year and the zipper are rips where the down feathers are coming out. Customer service has been great but LLBean is not what it once was.

I bought this coat for my daughter last year in September 2023. No issues last season. Unfortunately today she came home with pigeon poop all over her coat so I attempted to wash it. I followed the instructions on the tag. I washed in delicate cycle and could immediately tell when it was done that the filling wasn't the same. The tag says to tumble dry low so I thought maybe that would help fluff it back up. But it did not. There's clumps of damp down filling everywhere and the jacket now looks deflated. Very upset that I followed the instructions and it was ruined. I was hoping to get at least two seasons of use out of it. Now I need to look for a new coat.

This is our 6th coat we buy this version every year. This one was very disappointing and arrived with a hole.. it seems like it's not made as well as last year

My 7 year old picked this coat a few months ago for his winter jacket. After less than a week of wearing it to school I started noticing feathers coming out at the seems. Now there are multiple holes in the outer layer. My son has never destroyed any article of clothing so I was shocked to see a $110 coat shredded so quickly. The material is much too thin it does not even hold up to normal every day use. Extremely disappointed with the quality and would not recommend it.

It is so small. I ordered it for my newly 13 year old. The sleeves are short and the waist length is short. It won't make it through the winter before it looks ridiculous on him.

I bought this for my grandson for Christmas last year. 2nd time on it ripped on the arm. Fabric is paper thin and will snag and tear on anything. He loved the coat and the lining. He was so upset it tore.

I love this jacket and how warm it is. However, when we got it i noticed a tiny rip in the arm. Should have returned it but the kiddo needed a jacket right then.

The coats gets dirty and scuffed up quite easily. Won't last long at this rate, which is a shame cause I used to trust Beans with gear that could be handed down to siblings. Not so anymore and this jacket, though cute and warm, is already showing signs of wear after only 1 week. Yeesh!

My son wore this coat a handful of times. A rip appeared on the back, he states he was on the ground at recess. As a result, the down filling is coming out. I am disappointed because I thought this kid's coat would be made with ripstop materials. This $100 coat is now unusable. I have contacted LL Bean's customer service and am waiting on a reply.

The product is wonderful but the sizing runs small. My son is 10 years old, tall and thing, 90 lbs and 5 feet tall. The youth large is too small on him yet the tag says 12-14 year old sized. What 14 year old is 5 feet tall? I'll be exchanging ours for a bigger one.

I bought the little kids jacket 3 years ago, it was waterproof and warm and held up to 2 years of heavy use. But last year I bought the big kids version, and although my girls didn't use the jacket much last year, they complained it wasn't warm enough when they did. This year we've gotten lots of snow, but I was disappointed to find that the jacket is not waterproof (the jackets come in dripping wet, water soaks right through), and after washing I realized that all the down has clumped up in the arms so that it's no more then a very thin layer covering their arms, with little cotton ball-like lumps here and there.. I'm disappointed because the previous jackets were perfect, so whatever changed (either in this new year's version, or with the big kids style in general), the jackets are useless, so we'll have to find something else next year.

My daughter loves this coat. Perfect fit and loves the color. She took it out of the closet this am and the arm got a tiny rip in it. Just called customer service and they don't patch anymore so I am out of luck and out $89.00. I have an adult LL Bean jacket and the fabric is much tougher. Very disappointing for the price I would expect it to hold up longer.

I purchased this for my 10 year old grandson a couple of weeks ago. He wore it 3 times to school and got a tear in the right sleeve of the jacket for no apparent reason. He loved the jacket! He had a similar style jacket last year from llbean which he absolutely loved. Unfortunately they no longer carried that style. After speaking with a representative she gave me 2 similar choice jackets. He liked the solid color jacket so I went with this one. I should have listened to the other reviews. They had the same issue with the material tearing as well. I have ordered the second choice jacket with the stripes....very similar in style and it got excellent reviews. I'm waiting for its arrival. Please change the type of material you are making the outer shell of this jacket with.

My son *loved* this cozy, good-looking jacket, but the material is flimsy and tore easily when he fell (as kids do). There is no way to repair it, so we cannot wash it without the down coming out, and LL Bean refused a return, because they considered it "excessive wear and tear" even for a kid. They claim this has always been their policy, but we are loyal customers and have never been so disappointed. A kids jacket should be durable enough for normal kid activities.

L.L. Bean's quality and materials have gone down substantially since it decided to move away from lifetime guarantees.
My son had a version of this jacket and came in from sledding looking like he was covered in feathers. There were rips and tears all over his sleeves. L.L. Bean simply called it wear and tear and refused to do anything about it. Long-time fan no more. Time to find a new outfitter for my family. This company has sold out.

Deeply DEEPLY dissapointed in this jacket. Since day one, it's been shedding feathers EVERYWHERE! Not the quality I expect from LL Bean! Now I have to add dealing with customer service and returing this shoddy product to my already full To Do List. I look to LL Bean to make my life easier - you pay a bit more, but for a quality product. Not this time! I have yet another errand to add to my list and they're probably going to charge me shipping to return. VERY UPSET/

I have purchased this coat for my daughter 4 times, in 4 sizes, over the years and the first three times it was great. It lasted 2-3 winters each time and was still in good enough condition to donate. Our 4th purchase this fall ended up with a 3 inch split in the seam on the inside of the arm within 2 months of typical use. My complaints to customer service and requests for replacement were met with the instruction that I could send it back to be evaluated for exchange or return it to a store for a refund. Since this would have left my kid without a winter coat for an indeterminate amount of time I opted to buy a new coat from a different company and return the defective coat for a refund. I won't be buying this coat again in the future.

I've bought this coat in the past and it's great. But I'm so disappointed in the color options. I have three girls and they do not want to wear blue, green, or bright pink. Please bring back the muted purple and some new colors for girls that are muted and on trend not bright pink.

Purchased this jacket last winter instead of our typical competitors brand. Was extremely disappointed. By the end of the season the hood was ripped down the seam. For the price we were really hoping to get 2 winters out of it but we will be going back to the competitor where the quality is much better.
