The backpack is very nice. Bright vivid colors and very sturdy. However, my name is off center. Beware when ordering, may want to get embroidery outside of LLB.

Several years ago I bought this Junior Pack for myself. One reason was that I had a nice discount and the other reason was I am not too tall (5'3"). I usually carry a purse, but also use a cane. I had been using a crossbody bag, though that was beginning to get cumbersome with walking and also wanting to hold my husband's hand. When I switched to the backpack, my problem was solved. I like the somewhat smaller size of this pack and the lightweight but sturdy fabric and zippers. I did get a different print~bright pink background.
The only things I wish were different is that it was offered in more colors for kids and made in the USA!!

This was a wonderful choice for our son's first backpack for Kindergarten. It's got supportive straps and has innovative durable pockets including one for a water bottle! I had one when I was his age complete with the monogram in 1981 so I wanted to carry on the tradition. My only complaint would be that this junior size isn't large enough to fit the two pocket folders that he carries for schoolslight bummer since it's the only thing save a change of clothes that he lugs at that age.
I will buy the next size up for first grade!

This backpack is really only a good size for a Preschooler and maybe K, but not 1st grade and up.

Very sturdy for a kindergartener. Zippers a little tricky for young fingers to maneuver. Overall would definitely recommend this backpack for any youngster.

I ordered this backpack for my daughter to go to kindergarten. The recommended color for the writing was white. It is very difficult to see it. I am going to have to reorder with a different color. Otherwise the backpack is great.

This is the second Junior Book Pack I have purchased for my granddaughter. Last year's model had softer straps that were comfortable on her shoulders. This year's Dahlia Purple Lazy Daisy book pack is different. First day of school, she complained and we told her it was new and would get better. Now, two weeks in, she gets off the bus with the straps pulled off her shoulders and holding it with her arms. Her shoulders are red and irritated. On the plus side, she adores her new back pack and won't change it. I just thought you would like to know that the straps are not comfortable for the children this year. Thanks!

Great backpack for my preschooler. I picked a font color that looked like it matched the periwinkle color in the backpack but it certainly is lighter in real life. It is a little hard to zipper if you don't flip the zip cover over but that's not a huge deal.

Our 6 year old loves it. Got it monogrammed with her name. Fits great to start 1st grade. Looks like a razor knife put a cut in the top of the flap that covers the zipper. Works but worried in long run it will get bigger.

Great size for my almost 5 year old, and also fits my 2.5 year old. My son is starting kindergarten so I need something not too big, but big enough to fit the needs of a kindergartener. I'm not fond of large back packs on kids. My son is about 43 inches and this stops right above his butt, and is comfortable on his back. For school he will only need to carry a folder, change of clothes, and maybe a composition book. In addition to the aforementioned, for testing purposes I also added a square lunch bag containing a thermos and a round bowl, which fits just fine. I am able to fit a tall, slim 20 oz water bottle in the outside water bottle pocket, although he wont be using such a large bottle. One small issue Ive found is that the zipper sometimes get caught in the extra material that covers the zipper, but not so much where zipper has gotten stuck. Overall Im happy with the bag. The material feels thick and durable, and my son loves the shark print. Cant speak on longevity just yet, but Im hoping this can take him into 2nd or 3rd grade, providing print wont be considered too babyish at that point.

The straps are very close together making for an uncomfortable wear. It is a good size though for kindergarten

This would be great for a toddler/preschooler. My daughter's backpack burned in a house fire and we were trying to replace it with a new one but it is useless because it's way to small. She had a deluxe backpack and i thought thats what I ordered.

The back pack is well made, but the engraving is very small. I've ordered 5 of these backpacks, the last few years, and this one the engraving is not up to par. Very disappointed.

Great backpack but too small for school. Folders and under barely fit in it if at all. Had to return and get the original sized one

I have ordered several of these over the years and love the quality that stands up to kids who don't take it easy on their packs. My most recent purchase was made in a local store. The monogramming was off so I requested that it be remade. Second bag arrived and it was also incorrect. Third order was placed but I found an error before it shipped and called back to correct it. After 4 attempts, the correct bag, with the correct monogramming, finally arrived. I appreciated the customer service and dedication to make sure I received exactly what I initially ordered in a timely fashion. LL Bean products are made to last and their customer service is some of the best!

Cute backpack and great size for my small 4 year old kiddo. However, the material that covers the zipper makes it very hard to unzip the backpack. Nearly impossible for my 4 year old to this as it requires an extra step to fold back the material before unzipping.

Only giving it 3 stars due to the very small size. I bought this for my grandson turning 6, and it's quite small. I had it personalized so could not return it. Also due to the print, it is almost impossible to see his name. However, the print is really cute and vivid, and the backpack is well constructed, just very small.

I really want to love this bag but I think the off gassing from the 3M Scotchlite is noxious. I can't in good conscience put this on my 5 year old child. She's already exposed to too many 'forever chemicals.' Likely to return.

This backpack is very durable, as a LL Bean backpacks are. On this one, the zipper gets stuck every time on the main compartment. We bought this to use for school, but my son's binder does not fit inside (the backpack is too small). Now we have to find another backpack to use. Disappointed.

This is the first Llbean backpack I have purchased since buying many for my children more than 20 years ago. The quality of the fabrics has certainly deteriorated. Workmanship looks good. I'll be interested to see if it holds up as well as the old ones. I specifically sought out Llbean for the quality I remembered when purchasing a back back for my oldest grandchild.

The silver color of the zippers and straps make the backpack look cheap. Please go back to your darker zipper and strap colors. I held this backpack in my hands as a toddler's mom, many years after using one for myself and it just looked horrible due to the silver color.
Also, please provide waist straps/belts for little ones, if not for functionality, then for aesthetics. I always used to fasten the waist strap as I walked to and from school and really enjoyed having something to hold onto.

This is a super cute bag, but I noticed the monogram had a pull on day two! I am disappointed, but the backpack still functions well.

I love the size of this backpack for my kindergartner. However, it doesn't have a lot of room in it. His teacher sends home a three ring binder each day and that, along with the lunchbox and water bottle, fills up the backpack with hardly any room to spare. I wish the main pocket expanded just a bit more. This would probably be better suited for preschoolers who don't bring much to school. My son also complains that the straps aren't comfortable. I think they squeeze him up at his neck. It seems very durable though.
