Great quality backpack with sturdy fabric. Fits my 3.5 year old perfectly.

This is the perfect backpack for a small child! Purchased this for my 5 year old son. Big enough to hold regular size folders/notebooks, but not so big that it hangs at their knees.

Our 3rd grandson is starting Kindergarten this month. He now has an LL Bean backpack just like his big brothers - with his first name embroidered on it. He was so excited to open the present. I'm not sure what he will carry in the bag but he's looking forward to using it each school day.

This backpack is perfect for my preschooler! Easily fits a 1" binder, stuffed animal, and change of clothes. Love the green!

I always wanted one when I was a kid so I got it for my kindergartner and it's the same quality I remember. There's plenty of room for his lunch, a notebook and pencil case and a few other items plus it's not so big that it overwhelms him.

For others wondering about sizing, I went back and forth between this one and the Original for our rising K. I'm glad we went with this size -- it doesn't overwhelm our kiddo but is definitely "full size" ie not a mini backpack. Plenty big for a chromebook, folders, our planetbox lunchbox, etc. I think we'll use this until second grade or so, then we'll get the original size and this one will become a backpack for daycamp, travel, etc.

I love L.L.Bean backpacks!!! I had 2 in the 1980s original and leather bottom upper which I kept for over 30 years! and My older kids had 3 (small, regular, super size) from kinder-college. They both still have the regular and super sized. Now my new kindergarten girly has her new smaller size that will last for at least a few years when she'll need a bigger size. They are water resistant and durable and with L.L.Bean's assurance if you get one that just didn't add up they will make it right!

I ordered this for my grandson who will be going off to Pre K this fall. He chose red as it's his favorite color. We added his initials and it is just the right size.

This back pack is perfectly sized for young learners. It comfortably holds all the things (lunch box, water bottle, papers, etc.) my preschooler needs to be prepared; however, it is also perfectly sized for kids this age. The hardest part for my kiddo has been waiting for school to start.

It's the perfect size for my 5 year old. Plenty of space for what she has to take to school.

I've been a LL Bean customer since 2003! I knew once I had a child and she starts school I would purchase her book bag from here. The brand is durable, safe, cools options, and affordable. I will continue to be customer bc those character book bags last 48hrs at most!

My title says it all. I went from a typical newborn oversized diaper bag, because you have to pack the whole house when you go out right? Anyways, I bought this for my one year old's go- to bag. It has been absolutely PERFECT for a few snacks, a few diapers and a change of clothes with room for the extra items that may be needed. It's so light and just adorable in red and it screams little boy with its character. I have always been a huge fan of the classic L.L. Bean book packs since childhood and more importantly I KNOW from experience how durable this pack will be. My 7 year old daughter's pack started with her in Kindergarten and is now joining her for 2nd grade with lots of years to go. It still looks brand new. So, I have no doubt that this little red book pack will be showing up to Pre-K with my son before I know it.

I bought this backpack for my kids when in preschool - one just graduated from high school and one is a senior in high school. We have used these backpacks on many outings, vacations, school, pool and just jumping in the car to go on errand runs. My senior wanted another one because she uses it so much and loves the size and that it is lightweight. I am replacing only because the loop at the top has pulled away on one, and the other has a strap pulling away -- This product has been a worthy investment! I highly recommend this backpack!

This product was exactly what I was looking for. I'm always appreciative and impressed with the great quality of L.L. Bean products. The monogram and the backpack looked great and exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend this for a diaper bag for babies or backpack for toddler age and young school aged children. This will last a while, for years to come!! I'm using it as a small diaper bag for my (1 year old) son now, and plan to have it for his Pre-K and Kindergarten backpack.

Shipping with name was going to be an extra few days however it arrived 48 hours after checkout! Super fast delivery and great service. Good product.

I'm on to buying these for another generation. After raising two kids on Bean Bookbags, this is my first "Junior". He's only two, but just loves to carry around his special toys (and snacks) in it, and frankly, the zippers are great fine motor skill developers. I'm in love.

I bought this backpack for my grandson because the one he had was too small. The main point here is this one isn't too big! As Goldilocks once said: it is just right! It can carry what he needs to school and to daycare, it fits him comfortably, it has enough pockets. It is definitely just right.
