These are very comfortable shoes that work well in the grass even when it is wet. Although I have slightly narrow feet and do feel that these may run a bit wide, they are very comfortable and I do not notice anything wrong when changing directions or walking around.
My pair started to delaminate where the speed lace is held in place. Only the right shoe was affected by this and Salomon was able to comp me due to the warranty. Even with this defect, I still wear them around the house and I will try some Shoe goo fix soon.

A good looking comfortable shoe that might get 5 stars with better lacing.

Fit is more forgiving to those with higher instep and width foot. Eva blend foam starts feeling a little flat after a while. Rubber outsole showed significant wear. Probably good for around 300mi.

Have been using the shoe mainly indoors until the weather improves. Shoe is comfortable, lightweight and provides good level of support.

This is my fourth pair of Salomon shoes, and unfortunately my least favorite. I’m typically a size 10, but these are just a tad too big. They also seem to have a less sturdy sole than my other pairs. Overall I don’t *hate* these shoes, they’re just disappointing after the success I’ve had with others.

Picked these shoes up about a month ago, and I have 100 miles on them now. All of my miles have been seeking vert on technical trails around Smith Rocks State Park in Oregon. Runs have been from 8-23 miles in everything from mud, to snow, to ice, to rocky scree and dry trails. I've set several PRs on some of the bigger downhills. I find the foam a little on the firm side, so on the fence if I want to use these for a longer ultra. However, I have never felt so secure in my footing on downhills. Whether I am landing in mud, ice or rocky scree the shoe stays where I put it. Excellent protection from pokey rocks. I feel like I am cheating since I almost don't care where my foot lands when running in these shoes. The traction is awesome. These are narrower than the Ultra Glides so I went up a half size, but the UGs are built on the road last so are wider then Salomon's usual trail fit. The Pulsars are on par with other Salomon trail shoes. Still determining durability, having some mild delam on one shoe. Not giving 5 stars since the shoe still feels a little on the firm side and foot fatigue could add up on longer (ultra) runs. Otherwise I am already starting to shop for another pair...
To those who struggle with the laces covering the lace garage... once laced hook finger through loop on tongue and pull tongue up to allow access to lace garage. Maybe it's my foot/ankle shape but I've never had an issue with the laces. And I am glad I never have to retie the shoes on a run or during a race.

I discovered that I'm a 13 1/2, which doesn't exist, these 14's feel just a touch big, but I can synch down the laces and they feel pretty good. These don't give me quite the same ground feel as the Sense rides they replaced, but I do like them.

Ive put this shoe through A LOT. one thing is for sure. it feels very safe. my foot feels super comfortable and like it isn't going anywhere I don't want it to. its a great shoe for long days when you just want to cover ground and enjoy the scenery without worrying about what you can and cant step on. these bad boys with take all the beatings so your feet don't have to.

Great responsive and cushy shoe. A bit of a soft footbed for rocks and roots, found myself feeling a bit more than I would like on the trail

I picked these up with the hope that they would find the happy middle between the Speedcross and Ultra Glides. After 200km they feel good. Wider in the toe with a little more cushion then the SC5 but not as much traction. Better traction than the UG's but not as much cushion return. They run a little warm but drain well when wet. I can't say I've noticed any bonus from the plate but it hasn't caused any issues either. These will be my shoe of choice for an upcoming 56k.

Worn on several 7 mile trail runs over the last month, no issues although when my feet get very hot maybe an extra half size up would be better

I'm normally 12.5, bought those and they were too small so I had to buy 13.5. They're slightly too big but I've run in them now so can't return them (I thought they would be ok). I will use them for training runs. Compared to Speedcross these obviously have less grip due to 3mm lugs instead of 5 but it made a surprisingly big difference on wet mud. Other than that happy and they will do a lot of kms.

The shoes feel great, are light, well cushioned, and have good traction, however the lace system is not ideal. The pocket for housing the excess string is designed so that you have to loosen the buckle in order to open the pocket, making it impossible to both hide the string and tighten the shoes at the same time. It gets pretty annoying to run wroth the length of string exposed

I was looking for a replacement trail shoe that had a more durable tread than the speedcross. This shoe is comfortable and so far the tread is holding up. The problems with the design is the space where the shoe meets the ankle bone gaps during a stride. This allows for debris to get in the shoe. The tongue of the shoe is also short at the top not allowing for proper tucking of the lacing device. This was never and issue for the speed cross.

They were a good fit size wise but the insides of the sole felt compressed in and gave an odd walking experience

Not a bad shoe. Definitely more cushioning than I expected. The cushioning wasn't the real issue, the insoles would shift and recede towards the heel throughout the run, leaving a gap between the end of the shoe and the end of the insole. Perhaps it was just a one time defect that only I have experienced, but it's the first time I've had anything but a 5 star experience with a Salomon shoe.

I've worn Salomon's for years. Always ordered the same same size. These however seem to run a half size smaller?
If ordering get a half size bigger!

I love this shoe, I was just really surprised how quickly I blasted through the lugs and the cushioning. They lasted me 350km, which is the lowest of any Salomon shoe I've ever ran in. The lug durability is an issue and the cushioning is nice, but packs out quick!

Super comfy and nice looking shoe. When it comes to hopping through roots, rocks, and creeks.... Not very protective, find my feet getting direct hits and stingers. I wanted to love these, but may need to find something more like the XA Enduro again - please make that shoe again

I bought these a month ago as a friend recommended them. Fit is good, lacing good, rock plate good, tread, not good. If Solomon can improve the issue, this would be a solid shoe!

I had high hopes for this shoe. Love the SLAB Pulsar and to a lesser extent the Ultra Glide. Both those shoes the Energy Surge midsole feels great. So I was hoping these would feel similar, out of the box I liked the fit right away. It fits much more like a classic Salomon than the Ultra Glide (which is really my only gripe with that shoe) so I was happy about that. Getting out onto the trails with them though I was disappointed to find that they didn't feel as soft and ride more harsh than either the SLAB Pulsar or the Ultra Glide. Basically, they are a lot more firm than I expected or the description would have you think. Not sure if its just because of the Energy Blade plate or they changed the density of the midsole foam to make it more durable perhaps? Once difference in the midsole between the Ultra Glide in these I notice is the firmer piece is on the bottom instead of on top, between that and the plate they do have some decent protection over sharp rocks. The rocker does make for fairly smooth transitions and so the ride is enhanced from that. But overall the midsole just feels muted and more like standard EVA foam than the original Energy Surge we see in the SLAB Pulsar or Ultra Glide.
As for the fit, go for your normal size and some may even need to size up if you need room in the toes. Length is about the same or slightly less than the Ultra Glide but more pointed and less volume. Plenty of midfoot volume, I end up cranking the laces down for my narrow low volume foot and have a very long string to tuck into the lave garage.
Looks like I will be stocking up on the original Pulsar. It may be that I need to take these on some faster runs, but I didnt feel any real benefit from the plate and mostly it makes the shoe not as comfortable more than anything. With the rest of the new Pulsar line sharing the Energy Blade design, not sure this new line of shoes is for me. For reference I run 50-70mpw on mostly runnable trail with a 50k PR of 3:41.

I bought this just about a month ago but have used maybe a couple of weeks at the most and I'm bit disappointed with build quality, function, and fit. In a short time, I'm already seeing the support/decorative details coming apart, peeling off the uppers (see photos). The quick lace doesn't hold very well, slips off and doesn't support my heel well especially when I'm running uphill on a trail. Design-wise, the soles seem a bit high, I often almost twist my ankle especially on uneven trails; probably better for just pavement running. Overall, not highly recommended for trail running and again, the build-quality is sub par.
