I buy Salomon exclusively for my go to footwear when a general purpose good robust shoe is needed for all terrain types. 1 reason is the fit matches my large feat well, despite a small bunion, the other is the convenience and build quality. These shoes are excellent, and this is my third pair in in the past 3 years. The are comfortable, durable, lightweight and very convenient to put on and take off.

These are great shoes. The best for my active son with narrowish feet and the need for easy lacing. And they look cool!

Been using the shoes for a month & very impressed; provides a good amount of support while cushioning is front & center. Strongly recommended this shoe.

Very nice shoe that fits my slightly wider foot very well. The pocket to tuck the pull laces is easy to use as well.

I run on the streetcar tracks here in New Orleans. The surface is dirt, grass, and loose sand. These fit the bill perfectly--light and supportive but just enough traction for those soft patches. They fit my slightly narrow foot really well and have great cushioning. I think they look great, too.

Had my Pulsar Trails for two weeks now, so far have done 2 six mile runs on my local semi technical trails, and a nine mile effort on a nearby mixed trail (some roots, some grass, some loose gravel). So far so good. I'd mirror what other review say, the shoe fees great ticking off the miles, and can do a bit of everything without really specializing in any one thing. I previously ran in Sportiva Bushido 2s, and the extra cushion and rockered sole of the Pulsar really raises the bar for comfort. I have a narrow and low volume shoe, so finding ANY shoe that fits great is tough. The Pulsars are pretty close, though I had to swap the insole to take up a bit of volume inside. Really did the trick. They don't fit skin tight like my Sportivas did, so I'm a little less confident cornering or in more technical terrain. But that's a trade off for more stack and better pop in the shoe. I prefer the Bushido sole as well in terms of overall grip, but the Sportivas were sluggish on the flats while the Pulsars just roll. One weird thing I noticed is the toe traction on the Pulsars is a bit lacking. Maybe I have a strong toe off in my stridebut I've noticed that when running on gravel, as I push off the toes really skate around a bit. Nothing offensive, but just lose a bit of steam. Maybe a bit more aggressive lugs at the front on the next version. This shoe would eat up for terrain with another half mil on the lugsbut I guess these are billed as Speed shoesbut that's my two cents!

Been running in these for several months now and overall I'm impressed. My runs are road to trail and usually between 7 and 16 km's over varied and often technical terrain. No complaints apart from on damp rock where, like most shoes, they don't do so well. My last Salomon trail runners were the first gen SLAB ultras and although the fit isn't quite as 'slipper like' on these, the cushioning, stability, comfort and traction is on a par with the Ultras. The rock plate does a good job in reducing fatigue due to impact of rocks, stones and tree roots. The only issue I've had is with the Quicklace system. It came apart at the tightening handle on both shoes within the first month but I've managed to repair them with small electrical wire connectors! It would be good if the next iteration came with stronger handles.

I got these and tried them out compared to the Hoka Speedgoat 5. These shoes are snug on the ankle, wide through the toe: the "strike-plate" in the front of the shoe is noticeable. I use these shoes primarily on trails that are mostly sand, but, sometimes encountering swampy or marshy' areas, lots of pinestraw and roots to traverse, and these shoes provide traction, stability and really help to move down that trail.

I had a feeling these would be a great shoe, and this was bolstered by seeing several entities rate this among the best trail shoes of 2022, principally for long runs. Most recently, I've used Brooks Cascadia (standard width), but found them a little too wide for my feet. Having had a handful of Salomon hiking boots over the years (primarily Quest 4D), I gave these a try. Got them just before running an ultra (ca. 34 mi) in Colorado, and this race was their maiden voyage. It was a dry course over highly varied terrain with some steep climbs and descents on mostly rocky trails (some were bare dirt), but probably at least a third of the total distance was on blacktop and gravel roads. Overall the shoe performed extremely well. Feet felt great the whole time, whatever surface we were on, and sustained no blisters (there were no water crossings on the course fwiw). If there's one thing I could change about it, that would be the quick-lace system. While I like it's simplicity and ease of use, what the wearer must do with the excess lace is counterintuitive. The tongue has a pouch on its distal end (at the base of the ankle), and the excess lace is supposed to be stuffed into that pouch, but the opening to the pouch is covered by the laces themselves (see photo), so it's very difficult to get the shoes to fit as snugly as I'd like and still be able to push the excess lace up into the pouch. For those who like their shoes to fit a little looser this would probably not be an issue, but I did find myself having to retighten a couple times during the race. Notwithstanding my issue with the lacing, it's a fabulous shoe. Definitely the best trail shoes for me that I've found!

I bought this to be a do everything show for a trip to Iceland. I wanted to be able to pack one running shoe for road, trail and hiking. I made the right choice. From roads, to gravel, to trail to glacier and lava rock, the Pulsar did everything. Plenty of protection for off-road and comfortable and springy for pavement. Can't say enough about this shoe.

My first trail shoe, and I love it! Perhaps there are better shoes out there, but for my feet, these feel great. The quick lace system is very easy to use, although I had some issues with the tucked laces flopping around (to be clear, the shoe is NOT getting loose, just the excess laces coming untucked). It has just enough support and flexibility. I have taken brisk walks (no sprinting/fast running) on trails that have dirt, grass, gravel, and slight mud and in areas with a decent incline. I have not used them on anything especially wet, rocky, or slick.

I bought these shoes to replace my worn out Ultra/Pros, since the Pulsar Trail appears to be the next evolution of that shoe. My assumption seems to be correct because the fit, comfort, and design are very similar, only the Pulsar Trail has a bit more stack underfoot. Even though the cushion is a few mm more, because of the spring blade in between the two foams you still get a nice poppy return with each step while also getting a nice cushiony landing. I've always been hesitant with maximal cushion shoes because I prefer a good ground feel on trail, especially technical trails. Somehow the Pulsar Trail achieves both a max cushioned shoe with excellent ground feel. I ran a trail ten miler right out of the box and it was like I had been running in these shoes for over 100 miles already. The fit is just that precise, feels like that trusty pair of shoes you've always loved. Sizing seems to be true to fit; I have a low volume narrow foot so I always order a half size down in Salomon than I do from other popular shoe manufacturers. I have yet to run them in rain or mud, but I suspect because of their similarity to the Ultra/Pro that these will be just perfect, perhaps even better because of the small drain holes underfoot. Nice design, Salomon! Now just more colorway options, please!!

I was excited to unpack my size 12 Pulsar Trails (red) and test them out. They looked very Solomon (which I like) and they appeared quite cushiony, immediately, and I am more of a "trail feel" hiker/runner so I wasn't sure how it would translate (with the energy plate or bar or whatever you call it) To qualify, I reside in Cave Creek, AZ, and most of the terrain is rocky, densely rocky and sometimes a mix of rocks and gravel to sandy desert gravel. What is consistent throughout the summer here, is it's HOTTTT like a furnace. (I'll come back to this) So, because alot of the urban-ish trails, ones accessible to the city are mountainous, meaning they are one long ascent followed by a equally technical descent, I chose a path that was a bit more mixed. On the way up, I noticed I liked the fit, powered up a few moderate inclines, and liked the grip. Because of the significant climb angle, I would have to wait to see the engery (whatchamacalit) in action, but so far so good. There were a few hundred relatively flat yards ahead and bang .. I took off. Needless to say I was NOT disappointed. Wheeeeee!!!!!!!!! I have nothing to compare the spring to, I am not a cushiony, springy trail guy, but this was FUN!!!! I kept pushing because it was giving me back my extra - even if it was psychological, what do I care. Downhill time. I don't like to overdo downhills in new shoes until I build a relationship of trust. I trust this brand, but falls out here, particularly on Cave Creeks Black Mountain, for example (volcanic) can be terribly unforgiving, so I exercise a bit of caution. Anyway, since I was on a slighly softer jaunt, I dug in a litte and boy did they respond. The first descent was the most fun I have had on this trail in awhile. Good stuff. I am liking the energy insert thingamajig. Is it cheating? Maybe, but my legs are giving it its opportunity, so i don't feel too bad. Yes, more uphill, more downhills, no slips in the shake. Good control. A little more cushiony than my regular trail feel get ups, but definitely enough that I my foot positioning remained solid and predictable throughout. Loved the ride. Yes. I buy again. And yes, to me a solid 4.5-5 for a first edition. Suggestions: In Arizona, particularly the summer, color is everything. You guys need to always make a light hued, high voltage Southwest Version for any of your mixed and rocky trail runner releases. Light blues, bright yellows, that reflect the sun ... Those are appreciated. The red is certainly doable. But as a Steelers fan, the only other color being Baltimore Ravens-esque is a no-go. Looks great on the shoe, but football is religion. So brighten these up so we have some options up here (seriously, for AZ die hards, colors and breathability are major considerations for 3-4 months, the "cooler" we dress, bright, reflective colors, the cooler we feel. It makes a difference. Suggestion two ... because of how the lace system falls on the abbreviate (not too short) tongue, there was a scenario where the lacing system garage entry was obstructed by the tightened laces. I haven't had that happen on other models (ie. speedcross, etc.) Perhaps a top entry option for the lace garage would be helpful? Other than that. Keep making these, please. What a treat! Light colors, increased lace garage access ... we good.

The new energy is great for rock protection. The upper fit and quick lace system are ideal as feet swell in the heat or longer excursions. Love the low drop, 6mm. I am curious to see how they will hold up over the next few months.

Great shoes! They did a great job with having cushion and lightweight that is responsive. The energy blade plays a great role in the shoes. As for the fit for my feet, i had to tight them really tight because they had more room than the slab ultra or sense. I am 6'1 - 145lb and have slim feet. Overall great shoes, definitely give them a try and can't beat the price.
