I bought this last winter, and wanted to give it time before reviewing. My measurements- I'm 5'3, 112 lbs. I originally ordered the XS petite, it fit perfectly except the sleeves felt a tad too short, and would come up when I reached for things. So I exchanged for an XS regular, and it fit PERFECTLY! I usually wear a small in most items, I would definitely size down in this coat. I live in northern Wisconsin, and have worn this outside with only thin layers underneath and have still been comfortable. I highly recommend this coat!!! PROS: -Extremely warm, especially with layers (plenty of room for thick sweaters!) -LOVE the lined hood, great for when I forget a hat -The length is awesome for keeping your legs/bottom warm CONS -Only complaint is that the front of the pocket is a different material than the rest of the coat and it pilled very quickly. I won't take a star off because it really doesn't bother me, but I will say, for an expensive coat I didn't expect pilling to happen so quickly. This might have been my fault, as I have little ones that I am often picking up. :) This is my first LL Bean purchase, and I am so happy with it after a years use.

I purchased this coat after seeing a girl at a New Years party wear it durring a deep freeze in New Hampshire this past winter. Unfortunately I purchased it in XS. I am 119lbs and 5'6" My waist is 26inches hips 36.5 and I wear a 32C bra. I was SWIMMING in the coat. It was so big that cold air would have easily come up from the bottom. I returned it and am now going for an XXS.

She loves this coat! She is always cold but between the sherpa lining, the down, the hood and the fact you can unzip the sides to sit, I haven't heard complaint one while she's wearing it.

I bought this coat in kelp green, hoping for a comfortable coat that was truly a warm one. This one did not disappoint. It's great as a coat that's really warm in all the cold and wind that upstate New York can throw at us. The fleece lining stuck a bit to my other fleece (I wear all the fleece I can) but it got better after a short while. The coat length is excellent as well.

I love snow and hate cold. This coat manages a conundrum beautifully. Cozy but lightweight. Wonderful design for free stride, blocks wind, zips easily. Love it!

great winter coat very warm and pockets are huge - great for keeping phone and keys

This is the perfect winter coat. So warm and I think it's super flattering. I wear it around in temps between 0-40 and it's very warm. Oversized perfectly to allow layering. 5'0, 100 lb, XS regular because petite was out of stock and it fits great

Love this coat! I live in southern CT and was in need of a new warm coat while walking the dog. I usually wear a medium but small was only in stock. So glad I got the small - definitely runs big and nice and warm so layers aren't needed underneath! The sherpa extends to the mid back from the hood and is so cozy and warm! The green is also a beautiful color - my step away from black to help me stand out while walking on roads. Great deep pockets in front and also hidden zippered on the side. Definitely recommend!

I bought my coat at an LL Bean outlet store at a deeply discounted price. That helped me overlook the color (a shade of green that gives olives everywhere a bad name), the hideous (but admittedly handy) patch pockets stitched on the front, and the fact that I strongly resemble the Michelin Man while wearing it. That said, the coat is extremely warm. The Sherpa lining in the hood and upper torso adds an extra layer of coziness, especially in strong winds. The zippered pleats on the side seams make big steps into high vehicles or over deep snowbanks much easier. The down filling is purportedly water resistant, but I haven't yet had the pleasure of wearing it in a sleet event. ( I think it would be much too warm for weather that supported rain.). It was the length that sold me on it. Although the picture on the Bean website shows it reaching a few inches above the model's knees, it reaches just below the knees on my 5'3" frame. It's just long enough to keep my legs warm in a cold wind but not long enough to collect ice-melt stains around the hem. As with any LL Bean product, it is very well made.

I love this coat, it's my "go to" for this freezing weather in Rhode Island. Love the sherpa lining, nice and cozy. Just bought my daughter one too for walking around campus outside!

I love this coat so much! It's warm (And I live in Chicago) but also lightweight and cozy! It easily keeps me warm in zero decree temps but also doesn't make sweat to death when it's in the 40s. I love love love it!

The warmest coat i have owned...that frigid cold i was warm.

This coat was perfect for the "polar vortex" we just had. It's warm, the length keeps my legs cozy, and the side zippers let me walk full stride without letting in the cold.

I have really enjoyed this winter coat. I was looking for something longer and warm, and this met my expectations. I love the large pockets and the overall appearance. The fit was just right too! I read some reviews that said otherwise, but the small was just perfect.

Very warm, great fit, best winter coat in my closet

This jacket is incredible. I bought a small, I'm 5'6 140ish but with long arms. It definitely covers more of my arms than most womens winter coats do. Almost all the way to my wrist when I stretch my arms out. As others have said it's not fitted and some may say boxy, but if you want fashion look somewhere else and be cold. If you want supreme warmth this is the coat for you. Absolutely love it. Even has room for a sweatshirt underneath.

This is my best coat ever. It is so warm and keeps the cold out. I love this coat so much. I brought 2 coats one in green 2 years ago and one this Christmas in blue. It fix fantastic and I love the colors. It's so warm on a cold day.

I purchased the black. Love it!! The brown zipper compliments and has a great contrast with the black. The jacket is warm and fits great. It did run a little big so I sized down and fits perfectly! I definitely recommend!

This is my new favorite Bean coat! It is so warm and feels like I'm wearing a down comforter. Perfect for the cold hockey rinks and weather!
