The coat fit large (I ordered a women's regular small). It's stylish but I thought the coat itself would be thicker. So all of that, in addition to the extremely long turn-around time to get it exchanged with virtually no contact from the company is why I'm rating it as 3 stars.

I bought this coat for my daily morning trips outside to refill bird feeders and spread fresh seed. Some days can be extremely cold. The coat is very warm. The only problem I have is with the hood. This hood is too bigit appears to be a design flaw. I have to roll it back it keep it from obstructing my vision. Otherwise, I like the coat.

The down in your coats has changed. I've bought & returned 2 coats this year that were rated ultrawarm, but didn't keep me warm in 25 degree weather. This 3rd coat is warmer than the the 1st 2 (maybe because of the Sherpa lining), but not as warm as the prior down coat I've had for several years. I live in Wi & can have 25- weather. I've kept my old down coat to use on those days. I shouldn't have to do that. I like the fit of the coat. I've lost weight & it looks so much better, but it doesn't meet the ultrawarm label.

I'm a curvy lady, usually wearing an LL Bean Large. Large didn't fit very well so ordered the XL. I literally looked like SpongeBob. I was a perfect square. Plus, I had so much room in the back I could have accommodated my backpack INSIDE the jacket. Usually I don't care about looking ridiculous as long as I'm warm but it just didn't work. And now I don't even need a friend named Patrick.

Overall... fairly good quality... Physically, I am slender and 'petite'.... the winter coat from LL Bean, even though it is an XS is so large that I could wrap it around me twice... I love LL Bean and would buy all my clothes there if they weren't so over size

Just received it and deciding whether to return. It needs a drawstring at the waist to give it more shape. I look like a big kelp-colored marshmallow! The hood is warm but sticks out too much from the back.

I wanted to love this coat but I found it very boxy to the point that I feel like the wind would go right up and not keep me very warm. Also not very flattering. An internal drawstring in the waist area would really help.

It pained me to return this jacket. I loved the material, the detailing, the lining, color (navy) but the fit; aside from running large the fit was too boxy. Agree with another reviewer that it felt like wearing a sleeping bag. Would love to see a more hour glass shape for this jacket and I would purchase (a size down) in a heartbeat. So close Bean, please redesign slightly!

I love this coat and am so happy with the purchase. It does run a bit big but I don't like my coats fitted. Also, it fits great for layering.

I wanted to love this coat. I love the style, color, length, quality and promised warmth but it has no shape to it. I looked like i was wearing an oversized sleeping bag. I need something that makes me feel cute all winter not shapeless. This coat wouldn't provide that even if I sized down. Returning with hopes LLBean alters this design next year.

I returned this because the color was not a good one for me.

Really wanted to keep this coat. It is so cozy, it feels like being in a sleeping bag. It just didn't look right on me. I almost kept it anyway but decided to return it in the end. It looks and feels really good quality and so warm. I'm 5.2" and about 140lbs. I started with the large and then the medium and finally ordered the small. It just swamped me. I think their needs to be a petite option.

This is a great, stylish coat. I love the length and it's warm without being bulky. The fleece lining is nice and soft. However, this coat is huge! I typically wear a medium and after checking the size chart, I purchased a small. I never would have thought to buy an extra small but I'm guessing that would be the correct size.

I'm 5'9 and about 140 lbs and the small fit me like a large, super wide and huge. I also tried another style coat and it was the same. Strangely it doesn't look like they sell an XS in this style, only an XXS. I'm not eager to order a smaller size since they charge for returns (who charges for returns anymore?) & I don't feel confident in their sizing. I loved the soft lining though.

The coat is great quality but it is huge. It looked like I was wearing a sleeping bag. If you are going to order I would suggest going down two sizes. I normally wear a small and ordered a small at the body of the coat was enormous.

I love the coat and color but the coat is SO LARGE around the waist, it looks closer to a giant sleeping bag than it does a coat. It is very warm and the green is a very cute color but it is way too large. The pockets are also too low on the coat and it would be hard to put your hands in your pockets to keep them warm. Really cute coat but will likely be returning for a smaller size or even a different style.

I really wanted to love this jacket, and I will probably order in a smaller size, but the medium I ordered is huge on me! I usually order a medium in coats so that I can wear sweaters underneath, but the medium in this jacket personally seemed huge on me. I think I could easily wear a small, or maybe an extra small. The length wasn't a problem, it landed perfectly near the knees, however, the chest area looked like a potato sack on me! It didn't really have any form at all. Otherwise, material, comfort, everything else is great! I will probably try to downsize and hope that works better, but if you are thinking about upsizing for extra room, I personally don't think it's needed :)

My last few pieces of outerwear from LL Bean have been size L. I ordered this coat in both a medium and large for comparison, and both were huge. Even with a bulky sweater underneath, I could easily size down to a small. The fit is boxy and not particularly flattering, but it seems like it would be warm. I'm waiting on a few other coats that are on backorder before I decide whether or not to try the small. Agree with other reviewer about the pockets hitting mid-thigh, which is a little awkward. I wanted to love this but it's just ok for me.

Tried on and returned. I am after something more stylish/versatile while still being warm and cozy. Pros: Very warm. The whole jacket feels luxurious and is very soft like a cloud. Sleeve length is nice and long. Double zipper so you can open the bottom for movement. Note: zippers on the sides expand the fabric rather than open the jacket (like a suitcase). Cons: (a common issue I notice with longer jackets) the pockets are too low. I like to hold my hands near my hips, not the middle of my thighs. It also looks strange how low they are with how much they stand out on this jacket. It has no shape, like a big sack. They could add an elastic band to the back to cinch the back and hold the jacket closer to the body. Sherpa lining and drawstring on the hood give it an overall less clean look.

For some reason they decided to stop the Sherpa lining at the waist. This does not make sense for a coat supposedly designed for the cold. Leg coverage is similar to a windbreaker.

The sleeves were too tight even for my thin arms. If I had had any layers on more than the thin turtleneck that I was wearing the parker would have been too tight. The pockets were way too small for a winter coat and the white fleece lining left little tiny bits of fleece all over everything that I had on. Also, it needed a zipper that could be unzipped from the top and the bottom for comfort when sitting in the car.

I returned this coat for 3 reasons: 1. Boxy fit 2. Poor quality sherpa IMO 3. Didn't like the contrasting fabric on the patch pockets

My husband bought this coat for me for Christmas. Since I needed a warm coat for this frigid Michigan weather, I immediately tried it on. It is very comfortable, warm. However, I was very suspicious of the nature of the delivery from L L Bean. The coat was wrapped in a generic plastic bag. Then, I discovered the tags in a pocket. They had been cut off the coat and placed there with its cut plastic tag. It seems that full price for a possible returned coat isn't very good practice. I have purchased many sweaters, tops, and another coat from L L Bean. These tags were removed, but not by me, so the thrill of receiving a new coat is greatly diminished.

Too long. The chart is deceiving. Wish I could return for a shorter length.

I was so excited to get this coat and try it on. I've been looking for a new winter coat for a few years now. I'm pretty disappointed, to say the least. First and foremost, the bottom half of the coat seems to have much less stuffing in it than the upper half. Not sure if it needs time to poof up a bit after being in packaging... Secondly, the fit is very unflattering. Sure, there's some room to layer, but the bottom sort of "sticks out" where the zipper is. It just looks really boxy. I'm either going to exchange for a medium or look for another coat all together. I'm 5'11" and 175 lbs. so a large should fit me well. But this looks and feels more like an XL or even XXL. I'm truly bummed about this coat.
