I ordered a medium and it was very large around the middle. The length in arms was good. I returned it because it was just too big. I am 5'7" 145 pounds.

Coat is soft, very warm, easy to move in. The only complaint is that the sherpa lining is only in parts of the top of the coat.

Great roomy coat that easily fits layers. Nice long arms too! I really love Bean coats and have many of them. The only thing I would change is the lack of big pockets. I have an iPhone 11 Max, and an inside pocket that would fit that would be wonderful!! You just can't have enough pockets.

Fits well, like the coat, just wish the sleeves were lined more. Otherwise, a great coat.

I really like this coat, especially the pockets. I can put my phone and keys in the square pockets and not worry about them falling out when I put my hands in the handwarmer pockets. The only note I have is I wish it had a drawstring around the waist; there can be a bit of a draft up from the bottom. The hood is fabulous and cozy, and plenty big enough to wear over a hat. I live in NYC so I'm out all the time, no matter the weather, and this coat has been great.

I bought a medium in this coat and the length and body of the coat are great. I am relatively small on top and have wide hips so often my problem with longer items is that they are tight in the hips. This coat fits well in the hips. My problem is in the arms. My arms are on the small size yet they are kind of tight and not quite as long as I'd like. I went to a brick and mortar LL Bean store to try on a larger size but sadly the store doesn't carry this coat. I will likely order a Large to compare but at the moment there is only one color in the large and I'm not too excited about that color. I'd hate to have to give up this coat. It's cozy and warm. I just feel that given the fit of the overall coat the tightness of the arms is odd. It gives no ability to wear a sweater under the coat.

I was looking for a warmer coat. I would only wear this coat down to maybe 40F. I wore it with a wool sweater at 35F and sadly it was not warm. This is a well constructed coat. I like the huge pockets. There is plenty of room to wear a bulky sweater underneath so if you want a snug coat, order 1 size down. I knew that it is a polyester down type filling. The sherpa lining is only in the very top of the bodice and the hood. Not around your lower torso and legs and not in the arms.

I had to return it because it was huge. The front pockets were also awkward (angled is better) and it didn't seem as warm as expected. It did look very nice.

I was looking for a coat that would keep me warm while outside on playground duty in very cold weather in Washington DC. This coat will now but had to make some adjustments! I sewed the same lining that makes the hood and the upper chest so warm into the sleeves. Also, found before I did that the filling around the elbows were piling up and not fully covering that area. Wish the Sherpa lining had been in the arms too.

This coat looks so nice, but I was disappointed that it is not fitted at all in the waist. It looked like I was wearing a sleeping bag so I returned it. Also, the Sherpa lining only goes about halfway down inside the coat so it's more for looks.

Too bulky and heavy compared to similar parkas from other brands.

Sherpa lining should have been longer, pockets should have flannel lining, sizing runs big

Gift for a family member, who loved the fit and warmth but reported zipper pull breaking/off at bottom upon first use, making coat unclosable. Fortunately, she was able to return it to an LLB in her city and swap it for the last one in store in her size. She is very content with the exchanged coat.

To be honest, I am becoming less and less impressed with LL Bean quality in recent years. I can already tell that the quality of craftsmanship is questionable, and I have little doubt that the zipper is going to be problematic in the future. The from pockets are a strange design choice, and very odd looking. Yes, I realize this is not a coat where vanity should enter into the picture - no one except Audrey Hepburn could make a puffer coat look good- but the shape seems a little strange and cumbersome. The fleece is cozy, and I do need a proper coat at this point of the Midwest winter. I'm keeping this out of necessity because a return will take too long. A last note: LL Bean, you are living in the 90's with shipping times/returns/exchanges. Be aware that if you need to make an exchange for a different size, you will be refunded (after days!) and then charged again for a new coat. This is the definition of a return plus a re-purchase, NOT an exchange. They would not even send me a confirmation e-mail informing me my refund had been processed. This runs large. I am 5'10 125# and need an X-Small. The sleeves are just barely long enough in the XS, but I was swimming in the S. Speaking of the sleeves, the cuffs on this thing are pathetic. Very papery and stiff. Cheap.

This coat has potential but overall is lacking. It runs big - I'm a size 4 and typically buy small (or medium for heavier base layers) size coats and am swimming in this one in a small (and they're of course out of the extra small) even though it was my recommended size. It also may be that the cut is boxier and less flattering in real life than the photos (and I didn't think the photos were all that flattering). To top it off, I was looking for a warm winter coat and the filling in the coat is very minimal. I think the pictures are deceiving because I figured the reason it didn't look uber flattering is because it would be super warm and well filled, which is not the case. While the lack of stuffing may not impede movement, the odd shape most certainly will. At this price point I expected a heavier down coat (I ordered 4 coats from 4 different companies and this one was the most expensive). That said the colors and details from the zippers to the Sherpa to the pulls are all very cute. The length was also great - I'm 5'8 and it hit just above the knee, which is what I was aiming for. I wish the sizing, cut and fill were more to my liking. Sadly I will be returning.

This coat runs large, and is quite boxy. Since i have another LLBean coat in a medium, that is the size I ordered. It was too big, so I returned it for a different coat in a small, which is a perfect fit.

The coat is way too loose around my trunk, although a Small. It won't keep me warm with all that air between the coat and me. Otherwise I liked it well and was sorry to return it.

The hood is too small and it doesn't keep you warm enough in 30-degree weather

I would have kept this jacket if it had an interior drawstring. I really like the way the jacket fit except it was way too boxy and looked like a sleeping bag on me. You could also add an adjustable faux belt look on the sides/back, this would give it a more streamlined -dressy look. Please consider tweaking this design for next season!

I tried so hard to like this coat. The length is great and it is ULTRA warm. Unfortunately I just never reached for it because it's bulky (although not heavy) and just not flattering. It looked too much like a sleeping bag. So puffy! Could never wear it in a car- it really would be great for cold weather walking but not much else.

Coat is warm but need to add Velcro closure or snaps along side the zipper. I like my coat closed but I am in rush in morning . Not time for zipper

I'm 5'2, 115 lbs, and I ordered a size down xxs, and it's fairly large on me. Very roomy inside. If there was a petite size that would've fit better.

First, this coat is very warm, soft, and comfortable. But, the shell is not durable as it will snag easily letting out the down. The zipper is slightly difficult to reach because it is so low near or below the knees. That can get frustrating because it is hard to see. I suggest the shell be more durable and the hood be larger.
