The hood doesn't tighten enough to secure it to the head, it falls backward and away from the face. The zipper is difficult to fasten at the bottom because of the coat length, and the top six inches or so is difficult to zip, it is not a smooth zip.

The coat itself is a nice style but it is very light and the zipper system did not work properly. I returned this coat.

Initially, I purchased this in a size L, and the zipper worked perfectly. It is a very lightweight coat, and so to some, may feel cheap, but I liked it. With the color and style, I was pleased. However, the L was too small so I order up to an XL. When that one arrived, the zipper would not work at all. I am currently in the process of returning it and will be buying a coat from a different brand. I had my first LL bean raincoat for almost 10 years, so this was disappointing :(

I bought this coat last spring. I thought I had finally found the perfect raincoat for warm summer wear. It seemed just what I'd been searching for (& not finding) for years: super thin & light weight as well as waterproof. This coat has the added benefit of looking great and fitting well. Alas, it is not remotely water resistant, let alone waterproof. I wore it last spring once in light rain and again in light-to-moderate rain. Both times the water went right through. I then sprayed it thoroughly with Scotchguard rain repellent. Wore it again in early fall in moderate rain, and the inside of the coat and hood was again soaking wet. If you want a light, good-looking, windproof shell this would be good. Meanwhile, I guess I'll just keep looking for that elusive lightweight raincoat.

Seems very thin and flimsy. It is very wrinkled and the wrinkles are not coming out. Very disappointed because the item was not cheap but feels cheap.

Pink and Black were both pretty frumpy looking, like a sack of potatoes on me. On a plus, I liked the feel of the fabric and the length.

I bought this stylish AND (supposedly) "rainproof" coat after years of looking for a coat to cover my butt for trips/travel/excursions. Last week, I went to a 2 hour outdoor music event in constant light-to-moderate rain. Once the exterior fabric of the coat became saturated, the moisture leached around the bottom hem, and around the cuffs, and around the edge of the hood and I had soaking wet surfaces against my clothes and skin. In addition, the moisture moved into the pockets because I had unzipped the pockets to put a glove in each one - the gloves were wet and the net fabric of the pocket had wicked the water from the wet exterior and the net felt like a wet dishcloth. (someone in my tour group gave me a disposable plastic raincoat and I went into the restrooms and put it on, then put the wet raincoat on top as my next layer). I am about to leave on another trip and so I don't have time to return it now but I thought I should warn others. Look at the photos - wherever you see the color of the exterior of the coat inside the coat, those strips of fabric will become very wet if you are in actual rain conditions for a while. It is, however, a very attractive coat, it is very lightweight, it folds small enough to stuff into my big travel purse, it has a hood, and I love all the colors. I am sorely disappointed that I cannot use it as a coat for rainy conditions. I will buy some disposable plastic raincoats for my upcoming trip and start looking for a raincoat that will let me sit on wet surfaces and/or stand in the rain for a while. Happy & safe travels in 2022! S.

I read the reviews before deciding to give this rain coat a chance. The reviews about the faulty zipper are on point. I was able to zip it up the first time but the second time, the zipper wouldn't align properly and I couldn't fix it. The other problems were that it had a strange fit. The sleeves were very long. They reached the tips of my fingers. The shoulders were too wide and the waist too tight. It's going back after the X-mas mail rush is over. I don't recommend this rain coat unless you're tall, thin, have very long arms and enjoy wrestling with malfunctioning zippers.

Here you have a cool looking, comfortable coat. Stylish and attractive. But you can't get the freaking zipper to work. You try to line it up, hold it in place, pray for it, coax it to connect but NOOOOOO it just won't go without a massive struggle. After blaming myself, the light, how I was standing, my shoes, the cats, and covid, I finally gave up and returned it. Too bad.

Everyone's reviews ...(or many)...mentioned trouble with the ZIPPER. I TOO!!! Struggled with the first try-on to the "final....I give up try"). Also was not fond of the fabric which was very light. Overall, it did not seem like a quality item. I have returned it and am somewhat annoyed at having to pay $6.50 to do so for what I consider a flawed item.

Tried this coat on in store. Couldn't get the zipper up or down - kept sticking. - Went to another store to purchase different product. Zipper quality reflects quality of the item.

The cut and the flaps in the front turned me into a short, stout box. Very unbecoming to my short frame. I returned the item.

No cuffs over the elastic, hood is way too small, the pockets don't have flaps, and what were you thinking when the zipper was not covered? We all know how to use a zipper, including a two-way. Slightly ridiculous to think customers would need a video. That being said, what a cute pattern! And great colors!!! Combine the style and colors into the quality of your old fashioned rain gear, and it would be super!

Love the material and the length. Great job keeping rain off. That said the zipper stinks!!! Cheap plastic that I have to fight with every time I put the coat on. Lower tab has already broken off so I can't return it. The coat is way to pricey for the zipper.

After thinking about how much I liked this rain shell a few months ago and after reading how many customers liked (and kept) the coat, I reordered it. I still like the weight, the style, the color (eucalyptus), the length...but that zipper is as unreliable as it was. I have many coats with two-way zippers that work well--including those from LL Bean. All the same, I took time to watch the tutorial. Sorry. Even when the zipper engages properly at the onset, it NEVER slides up smoothly. It must be jerked unwillingly in awkward tiresome spurts. IF LL Bean should offer this otherwise attractive coat with a workable zipper in the future, I would buy it. For me, rain gear is one of those things where practicality outweighs appearance.

Purchased this rain coat in spite of reviews about the zipper. I really tried to like the coat but there were several issues with the design and construction that made me decide to return it. First, the positives: 1) Coat is definitely lightweight and packable;2) although worn only once, the coat is effective in repelling rain; 3) the long length was good for coverage in heavy downpours;4) a size larger than my usual left room for layering underneath. Now for the negatives that forced my return of the coat: 1) the zipper is indeed stiff, difficult to manage, and takes multiple tries to get hooked up at bottom. Sometimes it works, most of the time it is a hassle, 2) there is no fabric flange to cover the zipper. When it is cold and wet, this makes the zipper even more difficult to manage. Very aggravating.

I loved the contemporary style of this raincoat and the eucalyptus color was interesting. I'm a pretty standard medium and the sizing was fine for me. Also, it had some nice features - ventilation and nice, deep zippered pockets. However, as others have noted, the hood is much too small - I doubt it would keep my face and front of my head dry in a real rainstorm, which in the end is the point, no matter the style.

I loved the deep pumpkin color of the jacket. The hood seemed flimsy, with no visor in the hood. Not sure it will keep me dry or stay on if there is wind. Though the pockets were zippered and there were enough of them, I prefer patch pockets. These were side ones. The fabric seemed somewhat insubstantial, but workable. I thought Gore-Tex is supposed to breathe, but I was really hot in this jacket. The zipper going up the front was not smooth. A better quality zipper would be a real bonus to this jacket. I ordered a Petite Large as I am small in the shoulders, but I have some weight around the lower abdomen and hip area. I could close the jacket and walk in it, but will not be able to wear anything bulky under it as it was already pulling across the hips with just a t-shirt and my slacks. Hood was annoying with no visor in the hood and it was very light. My plan is to take the jacket on a trip to the southeastern U.S., where there are humid days with heavy rains in late afternoon through the spring and summer months. I am ordering up to a Petite XL to get more room across the middle and will be returning the Petite Large. One good thing is that it was delivered quickly the first time. I hope that happens again since I leave on my travels in a few days. I would love to see LL Bean make this jacket in a more A-line style for women who are not tall and thin. Also, there should be a way to adjust the sleeve length. I have looked at rain jackets in all the usual places and it is hard to find a tunic length one. Most are short or very long, so I do not have many choices.

First of all, I loved the look of the jacket which I ordered in black. The style has a nice youthful vibe to it with all the trim, pockets, etc. However I ordered a small which was my mistake, I usually order a medium which probably would have fit just fine. The problem was the zipper, I could not get it to work, it got stuck the first time I tried it and it took both my husband and I to undo it and then it did the same thing again. Hopefully it was just this coat zipper but I was unwilling to try it again.

I am very disappointed. Two-way front zipper is tough to engage, to the point that I leave it connect at the base and get in and out like in an anorak. I was also expecting to be line, I shouold have checked better. Positive the fabric actively repels the rain.

The zipper on this rain coat only works every once in a while. For the price you pay for the coat, you certainly expect the zipper to work consistently.

I bought this rain jacket in store, almost 2 years ago, however I only wore it a handful of times. The pull tab on the zipper fell off and then the zipper got stuck on the top of the jacket and I cannot get it back down. Now I can't zip the jacket up fully which defeats the purpose of having a long rain jacket. I moved to the PNW recently and I really wish I could get this jacket fixed because I really liked it up until it broke. Customer service said I'd have to pay to have it fixed, which is insane from a company like LL Bean. I expected more of a quality guarantee than that when I purchased the jacket (back when it was at full price!)

I purchased this not long ago believing the representation that the jacket was waterproof -IT IS NOT. If you are under a consistent drizzle (never mind rain storm), you will get wet. If you are looking to go out for a few minutes, will work, after 30 minutes or so,, you will begin to feel the wetness.

This size runs small. Biggest complaint is with the zipper When I attempted to zip it yp for return, the zipper got off track and jammed. I could not zip it or unzip it. It was stuck. Saw simular complaints in some other reviews. I do not recommend this product
