I ordered (and then returned) an XS Petite - it was huge on me. XS petite is the smallest but is equivalent to a US size 2 (which I learned after the fact was larger than I expected). It was very long on me in both the arms and torso, and too wide in the chest area. Overall I just felt like I was all jacket when I wore it and it overpowered everything else as it was so big on me. I'm really not even that small, I'm pretty average weight for someone my height and have some curves (I'm 5 ft). I wish there was at least the option to get it smaller than the XS as that is just not small enough - I could deal with the longer length, but I'm small chested so it just didn't work. It's really hard to find petite clothing so it was just disappointing to me that the one place with petite rain jackets is still too large. Otherwise, the color was really cute and the material was comfy.

I have always lov d that I could depend on the quality of LLBean, but not this time! My other raincoat quit being waterproof. I have to walk to work in all weather. I too my time selecting and found less expensive but I wanted durable and quality. So I chose LLBean. I wore it yesterday in the rain for the first time and it is not waterproof! My clothes underneath were wet after a mile. I will return.

I'm not sure what I was expecting for $120, but it wasn't a jacket that fit in a bag barely larger than a sandwich bag. The rain jacket may be great, but I definitely felt ripped off when I opened the package.

I don't understand why the fit was changed from traditional to slightly fitted for the trail model rain jacket. Because of the fit I had to order a larger size. I normally wear Medium. I'm not thrilled with the way the jacket fits but there is not much I can do about it. In order to get enough room in the fitted area to accommodate a layer, I had to go up a size. Because of that, the bottom of the jacket flairs out and reminds me of an A Line skirt from many years ago. This is outdoor gear. When active, you need room to move and be comfortable. Please drop the slightly fitted and go back to the original fit.

I read the reviews, but since some of them indicated that the sizing was perfect, I went with that. Unfortunately, the shoulder area is way to snug. I am a solid medium and bought a medium. It fit okay around my middle. I couldn't wear anything except a thin t-shirt with this rain jacket. The jacket was much thinner than I expected. Slightly thicker than a poncho. I will be returning this jacket, which is too bad as LL Bean has such a good reputation. LL Bean needs better models to size their clothing. We are not all model thin....

This jacket is advertised as being slightly fitted and best over lightweight clothing. This was too fitted and only if I wore nothing underneath could I comfortably wear it. I have several winter jackets and coats from LL Bean, all of which I wear a bulky sweater or bulky sweatshirt underneath it and still have plenty of room. I am disappointed. I just ordered it in a large but I have a feeling that might be too fitted as well. Let's hope not!

The sleeves were very long, which was fine for me, as my arms are very long and shirts are usually too short for me in the sleeve. But for most people they would be too long. And the bottom of the coat hit me in the middle of my rear, so I assume that rain would run right down off of the coat onto my clothes. I am 5' 8' and 138 lbs.. I returned the coat.

Was not roomy enough for a fleece or bulky sweater, not enough coverage in length, and two expensive for me for what it did offer. Yes, it seems well made.

I usually love LL Bean products and have always thought their quality was excellent, but I was disappointed with this jacket. On a hike in a forested area in a bit of rain, the water seeped through leaving my shoulders, arms and back damp and cold. It was by no means a downpour. I loved the fit and color, just not the performance.

Sized very tight for a medium. Could not have much more than a light shirt underneath.

This is the third rain jacket I have purchased over 15 years . I have had to replace them because the label on the back of the jacket peels away from the jacket. I have always purchased the same size in the same jacket, but this jacket is so tight in the arms, compared to my previous jackets. It fits the same everywhere else, but there is no extra material in the arms. I hope they change back to the original design.

so sad! i bought this to replace one i bought maybe ten years ago from L.L.Bean, i loved that jacket, and in fact, i can't seem to part with it, despite the fact that it's no longer waterproof due to a peeling lining. as is the way of much manufacturing, this new jacket was vastly inferior. the reviews suggested i size up, so i did, and the cut of this jacket was amazing! and not in a good way! the body of the jacket was vast and wide, very wide. the sleeves, however, were made for a much smaller person, so even if the body had fit, the skinny arms were way too tight. i returned it.

The lining felt like a plastic trash bag. The outside was nice, fit nice, liked the color, but could not stand the lining. It felt very cheap and uncomfortable.

The jacket is great except the top part of the arms is far to small compared to the jacket. Everything but the top of the arms fit. Extremely disappointed

I first ordered the PL, which usually fits me, but when it arrived I could not even fit the zipper together. I returned it for a PXL - now the sleeves are a bit too long but it zips shut but with no room to spare. I'll keep it because I need a rainshell like this, but I'm disappointed.

I have an LL Bean rain jacket that I bought in the early 90's. I love it and wanted to have another one to keep at our other place. The one I have is lined with nylon and has inner pockets. It's comfortable and actually a size smaller than I wear, but still fits. The new one was lined with some sort of rubber like material, and the sleeves were tight. It was a size larger than the old one, but felt confining. I was very disappointed. Sorry.

The sleeves are extremely tight in the upper arm. This will not work for me. Also disappointed in the fabricit feels thin and flimsy, like it would not be durable. The zippers and pockets seem nice. Sending back mainly due to the fit.

I would call this coat water resistant, not waterproof. We ordered these for our staff at an outdoor nature based school, where we are outside in the rain for long periods of time. Unfortunately we are getting wet if it's more than just a passing shower. I think the coat would be fine for walking a short while in the rain, or getting to or from a building in the rain. But not if you plan to be outside in the rain for hours.

I have been a customer of LLBean for many years and have always been satisfied with the quality of the merchandise. This jacket was very disappointing because the fabric is not of good quality. It has a crinkly sound which resembles wax paper. This jacket was not inexpensive ($100) , but the fabric sounds like cheap items...which I don't buy. The color and construction is okay, but I cannot wear this around other people. I also ordered slacks which were supposed to be 28" inseam and are 30"....now another $15 to get them hemmed. I am waiting for the rest of the order, a bathrobe, so i hope there is nothing wrong with that!

I purchased this for my adult daughter. It arrived with a strong smell of chemicals. I immediately washed it according to the instructions, and the smell disappeared. It's definitely not the same quality as the one I bought for myself several years ago. Seems LL BEAN is slipping .

I realize hate is a strong word and I don't use it lightly. I've had this thing since 2017 and it's been with me on every outdoor excursion that has a remote chance of rain. It's durable and won't wear out. I don't like buying in excess which is why I won't replace it until it dies. But aside from keeping me dry in light rain this jacket brings me no joy to use. The material is crinkly and not soft, seams and cuffs rough, fabric uncomfortable on bare skin. The main zippers and pocket zippers all snag more often than not. Water does not bead well and even after light rain it takes a long time to dry. In extended rain, water comes right through. It is not breathable. I end up being soaked inside and out from sweat and rain. I've washed it with tech wash and retreated it with in-wash Nikwax AND DWR restoring spray. It might have made a *little* difference. Honestly couldn't tell. I dread using this thing and can't wait until I accidentally tear it or leave it drying too close to the campfire.

I've been buying the same size from LL Bean which is 2x, for many years. Never had a problem with fit, never needed to return anything before this jacket. This garment was.Too tight across the back for comfortable movement and the sleeves were also tight. I tried it on with a short sleeved tee and the fabric of the jacket stuck to my arms like it was made of plastic bag material. Just very uncomfortable.

thought this would be more like the raincoats & windbreakers I've purchased from LL Bean in the past but this is way too flimsy, needs a lining. Haven't worn it in the rain but definitely would have to wear a sweater or layer underneath to keep warm, definitely not worth the price

When I saw the green color of this jacket, I decided to replace my similar but much older black LLBean jacket. I ordered a size larger than normal because reviews indicate a slimmer cut, and I wanted to be able to wear a fleece underneath. The fit was good except the sleeves were too long for me. Then I compared the style with my older jacket. The new jacket has no sleeve lining, Velcro gets in the way of the zipper, and the inside of the body seems unfinished with no liner. I did not wear this outside, so I can't speak to the jacket's comfort, but I did not think I would like it, clammy on rainy hot days with no lining, annoying zipper, and too long sleeves. The beautiful green color was just not worth it.
