The jacket is well styled and beautiful; however the sleeves are too tight to allow a turtleneck underneath it an still be able to bend your arms at the elbow. Alas I must return it.

I wouldn't call this jacked "slightly fitted." It fits me in the waist but it's gigantic in the hips. Fortunately the bungee cord at the bottom takes up the slack. Why is it that women's clothing is supposed to hug the body but men's is comfortably loose? Thus men have room for a fleece under the jacket but women don't. We're supposed to give up warmth for the sake of being attractive. The fit of the Trail Model jacket has gotten worse over the years, more "feminine" and less practical. Bean's, do you realize that more than half of women are an apple shape, not an hour-glass or pear shape?? And that way over half of American women are overweight?
The jacket is a bit too long. Another problem is the velcro closure at the wrist---the velcro on the strap goes beyond the velcro on the sleeve, so you can't get it closed tight.
I haven't tested this jacket in the rain yet. I've had three previous models of this jacket. None of them were reliable in the rain and I never trusted them in cold, wet weather where hypothermia was a risk. The lining on all three past jackets peeled badly. Time will tell if these two major problems have been corrected and to what extent this jacket is actually waterproof and under what conditions. At the moment I can't say whether this is a going-to-the-grocery-store jacket or a remote-hiking-in-a-hard-November-rain jacket. More info from Bean's on the waterproofing would be helpful so we know what to expect. We need to know this for safety in cold wet weather.

I bought this rain jacket in yellow. It's really a nice color and pops in the backdrop of a rainy day. It looks great and fits great. I just wish it had snaps front instead of Velcro. Velcro cheapens the jacket and it can destroy other fabrics it comes in contact with. It pulls on sweaters and my long hair (even in a braid or ponytail) got caught in it a few times while I was hiking.

It is what it says it is...a rain jacket with adjustable sleeves (velcro) that will likely hit you about hip length. My issue is that it does not have a two way zipper so when you sit down with the zipper in use it is binding at the bottom of the jacket. PLEASE put two way zippers on these non-stretch jackets so we can adjust when we are sitting - whether in the car, on the boat, on the picnic table or whatever. A simple adjustment to the design would make this a keeper for a short rain jacket.

I had an older version of this jacket and loved it. So I was happy to buy it again when my old one was not as waterproof as it should be. But the new style, while lighter, is much smaller than my old. Very disappointed. Returned and I'll just keep my old.

Great colors, nice feeling fabric, too fitted for a rain jacket, would like a little room for layer underneath. Arms too tight. Usually size fits me well. Wanted to like it, but had to return it.

I had the older trail model rain coat in an XL, and I had room to wear multiple layers underneath comfortably. When I ordered this raincoat, I listened to the other reviews, and sized up to a 1X. The rain coat fits, and defintely repels water, however, the arms and chest are tighter than I would have expected, so if you have a larger chest or arms, expect it to be much tighter than the older model.

I bought it a size larger than I usually wear so that I could wear a fleece under it on cooler days. I didn't find it totally moisture proof, plus it wasn't that great at wicking moisture away.

I bought Clover. It was a bright green on line but it is actually a dull green. The pockets have a mesh lining but there is a slight opening on the lining. If I put keys in the pocket, they will probably fall out. It fits well. Other than the color and the openings in the pockets it is a good jacket. I am thinking about returning it for a better color. I wish I went to the store to buy it so I could see the color for myself.

The jacket fits well aside from the arms, which are snug. I have 2 rain jackets from LL Bean 2 sizes smaller that fit better than this.

I have this Trail Model jacket in MANY colors from previous years. Now this season the fit is more tapered and close to the body. I felt there was not room enough for a light layer underneath. Because of this change in the fit, I returned two jackets. The colors were bright and happy, but I want the roomier style back, please!

Got this jacket as an upgrade from the previous model. This version runs smaller than the previous one. If You want to wear it with just a T-shirt then it is ok.
I like to wear this jacket with a sweatshirt underneath. Therefore I returned it for the xl. When I received the xl I compared it to the earlier version large and it matched the sizing. I love the chest pocket. Wish they would have kept the elastic on the cuffs as you have to release the Velcro every time to take the jacket off. Quality is good. I got the orange color and love it.

I tried this jacket on at a retail site, and thought it would be adequate for rain protection in warmer weather. I was looking for a rain shell to pack along. The issue that has stopped me several times from buying this & other women's jackets are the color choices. So often I am seeing women's jackets made in odd fabric colors: washed out anemic pastels, odd colored reds, blues or greens that I do not like. I then admire the men's jackets in rich & complementary colors: deep sapphire, deep admiral blue, rich mountain red, etc. I wish someone would look at this issue and offer better color choices to women. Thank you.

As other reviews stated, they changed the fit of this jacket and it runs small. I have a Trail Model jacket that I purchased a few years ago that fits well but the inside is starting to peel away so I decided to order another for an upcoming trip. I ordered a size larger than the one I already own thinking it would be a bit roomier to wear a light sweatshirt underneath if needed. The larger size jacket is actually smaller than the old jacket. I would like to return it but unfortunately I don't have time. Definitely order up a size or maybe even two! Other than the size, it is a nice jacket.

Seems to be made well in terms of quality material. However, it's definitely snug. I read other reviews that warned it would run small. I normally wear a 3x to make sure the arms are loose enough, so I couldn't size up but decided to risk it. It fits, but barely. My upper arms are like sausages in this thing. If your arms are on the larger side, definitely order up. Otherwise, you won't be comfortable. This jacket is a great length on my long torso (not too short, as jackets typically are on me). Arm length was perfect. Waist and chest are a little snugger than typical fit but not too bad. That upper arm width though.....there's no way I can layer under this jacket.
I wish it had a double zipper. I ordered the "yellow" and the color is great. Not too green and not too yellow - right in the middle yet not neon. Love the color!

I was really drawn to the beautiful green color of this rain jacket and had high hopes it would be a great fit. As someone who's petite, I appreciate that L.L.Bean offers petite sizing. It's one of the few brands that does. Unfortunately, this jacket was a miss. The sleeves were at least four inches too long, even in the petite size, and I prefer jackets with a lining, which this one lacks.

This is not my first Trail Model jacket, but somewhere along the way the fit became "slightly fitted". It may be more than that - I tried it on over my pajamas and it was uncomfortable,
I like to wear a sweater under my rain gear in the PNW - this jacket does not work, unfortunately.

I bought this rain jacket to take with me on the Camino Primitivo in Spain. A week into the trip, we had our first rainy day. Not a downpour, but a continuous drizzle/mist/rain. Within 30 minutes, the jacket was soaked through and was a soggy mess. Not good when one is walking 20-30 km per day. The only saving grace was that it wasn't very cold. I had only worn it one or twice before taking it with me, and had not washed it. Extremely disappointed, especially since it's ostensibly a "trail" jacket. It's fine as a windbreaker, but a total failure in actual rain.

I ordered in a Petite size. It was only a little bit shorter that regular - much too long for me. Furthermore, one ordering Petite Large would expect the coat to be not only shorter, but also a little wider than normal. Some people, like me, are shorter and wider than "normal", than what is being designed and sold now. Lots of people are like me - why not carry a special line for us.

Returned Trail Model Rain Jacket.
Sleeve was not set correctly, it had a twist.
I quickly received a full refund to my credit card.
My old rain jacket was from a different vendor, I purchased the same jacket again. Their price was a little less expensive.
I liked the breast pocket, which is why I purchased the rain jacket. Disappointed in quality of jacket I received.

So disappointed with the longer than necessary arm length on this rain jacket. Beautiful coat otherwise. If you have long arms, then this jacket is for you. If not, be prepared for at least 2" extra material on each sleeve. I purchased both medium and large sizes, BOTH have arm length that is too long.

Adorable jacket, in great color options, that fits well. BUT it is NOT WATERPROOF. After 2 wears in the rain, she was soaked. Very disappointed.

I am returning this jacket. I wore it in the heavy rain to run an errand I was completely soaked by the time I got home.

I've owned this jacket in another color for over 20 years. The lining was dry rotting and I thought I would get a new one. I ordered the same size. The jacket fit- the arms did not. I am sorry to say I had to return it.
