The jacket fits well aside from the arms, which are snug. I have 2 rain jackets from LL Bean 2 sizes smaller that fit better than this.

I have this Trail Model jacket in MANY colors from previous years. Now this season the fit is more tapered and close to the body. I felt there was not room enough for a light layer underneath. Because of this change in the fit, I returned two jackets. The colors were bright and happy, but I want the roomier style back, please!

Runs smaller than older model. Ordered a size up and tighter than the old model.

Got this jacket as an upgrade from the previous model. This version runs smaller than the previous one. If You want to wear it with just a T-shirt then it is ok. I like to wear this jacket with a sweatshirt underneath. Therefore I returned it for the xl. When I received the xl I compared it to the earlier version large and it matched the sizing. I love the chest pocket. Wish they would have kept the elastic on the cuffs as you have to release the Velcro every time to take the jacket off. Quality is good. I got the orange color and love it.

I tried this jacket on at a retail site, and thought it would be adequate for rain protection in warmer weather. I was looking for a rain shell to pack along. The issue that has stopped me several times from buying this & other women's jackets are the color choices. So often I am seeing women's jackets made in odd fabric colors: washed out anemic pastels, odd colored reds, blues or greens that I do not like. I then admire the men's jackets in rich & complementary colors: deep sapphire, deep admiral blue, rich mountain red, etc. I wish someone would look at this issue and offer better color choices to women. Thank you.

As other reviews stated, they changed the fit of this jacket and it runs small. I have a Trail Model jacket that I purchased a few years ago that fits well but the inside is starting to peel away so I decided to order another for an upcoming trip. I ordered a size larger than the one I already own thinking it would be a bit roomier to wear a light sweatshirt underneath if needed. The larger size jacket is actually smaller than the old jacket. I would like to return it but unfortunately I don't have time. Definitely order up a size or maybe even two! Other than the size, it is a nice jacket.

Seems to be made well in terms of quality material. However, it's definitely snug. I read other reviews that warned it would run small. I normally wear a 3x to make sure the arms are loose enough, so I couldn't size up but decided to risk it. It fits, but barely. My upper arms are like sausages in this thing. If your arms are on the larger side, definitely order up. Otherwise, you won't be comfortable. This jacket is a great length on my long torso (not too short, as jackets typically are on me). Arm length was perfect. Waist and chest are a little snugger than typical fit but not too bad. That upper arm width though.....there's no way I can layer under this jacket. I wish it had a double zipper. I ordered the "yellow" and the color is great. Not too green and not too yellow - right in the middle yet not neon. Love the color!

I was really drawn to the beautiful green color of this rain jacket and had high hopes it would be a great fit. As someone who's petite, I appreciate that L.L.Bean offers petite sizing. It's one of the few brands that does. Unfortunately, this jacket was a miss. The sleeves were at least four inches too long, even in the petite size, and I prefer jackets with a lining, which this one lacks.

This is not my first Trail Model jacket, but somewhere along the way the fit became "slightly fitted". It may be more than that - I tried it on over my pajamas and it was uncomfortable, I like to wear a sweater under my rain gear in the PNW - this jacket does not work, unfortunately.

I bought this rain jacket to take with me on the Camino Primitivo in Spain. A week into the trip, we had our first rainy day. Not a downpour, but a continuous drizzle/mist/rain. Within 30 minutes, the jacket was soaked through and was a soggy mess. Not good when one is walking 20-30 km per day. The only saving grace was that it wasn't very cold. I had only worn it one or twice before taking it with me, and had not washed it. Extremely disappointed, especially since it's ostensibly a "trail" jacket. It's fine as a windbreaker, but a total failure in actual rain.

I ordered in a Petite size. It was only a little bit shorter that regular - much too long for me. Furthermore, one ordering Petite Large would expect the coat to be not only shorter, but also a little wider than normal. Some people, like me, are shorter and wider than "normal", than what is being designed and sold now. Lots of people are like me - why not carry a special line for us.

Returned Trail Model Rain Jacket. Sleeve was not set correctly, it had a twist. I quickly received a full refund to my credit card. My old rain jacket was from a different vendor, I purchased the same jacket again. Their price was a little less expensive. I liked the breast pocket, which is why I purchased the rain jacket. Disappointed in quality of jacket I received.

So disappointed with the longer than necessary arm length on this rain jacket. Beautiful coat otherwise. If you have long arms, then this jacket is for you. If not, be prepared for at least 2" extra material on each sleeve. I purchased both medium and large sizes, BOTH have arm length that is too long.

Adorable jacket, in great color options, that fits well. BUT it is NOT WATERPROOF. After 2 wears in the rain, she was soaked. Very disappointed.

I've owned this jacket in another color for over 20 years. The lining was dry rotting and I thought I would get a new one. I ordered the same size. The jacket fit- the arms did not. I am sorry to say I had to return it.

Bought this because it's described as waterproof. Maybe in misty rain. I wore it recently and there was a quick rain shower. Rain soaked right thru. Good as a windbreaker but not good for rain

I need to take another look at the product description (when shopping online) looking for disclosure that 100% recycled nylon (not made in the USA) was the material used - only time will tell about durability.

Have one for years. So was looking forward to new one. It does have all the original pockets zippers, velcro, Great! But they have shortened the length, and tighten across shoulders, and material is so thin, it was like a windbreaker. So disappointing! It used to be a fantastic rain jacket;

Disappointed. I literally bought this raincoat on the way to my daughter's soccer game, as the forecast called for rain. I ended up wet and cold. The jacket was not protective. I love the cut and style of the jacket, though.

I have a 3-in-1 jacket I purchased ~6 years ago. This rain jacket is supposed to be the same as used for the 3-in-1. The seam tape on my 3 in 1 rain jacket is coming off, so I want to replace it. My old jacket is a PM. I ordered a PM, and the old jacket is 1" wider on both sides, has shorter arms, and much more room through the shoulders. It has never been dried in the dryer. It is so much more comfortable. Why does LLBean keep skimping on newer clothes? I notice this on other things from them. We as a nation are not getting smaller. It's also getting more difficult to buy petite clothing from them as they are not offering many items. I do wish I was taller but...... I also noticed that when they ask you what size you bought for this review, petite isn't even an option. That tells me petites could be on the way out. I've bought LLBean products for 44 years. Out of a group of 8 female friends, we are all petites!!! Please don't ignore us!! We are all active in sports, and we need clothing, too.

Bought a Large which fits everywhere except the hips. They seem to be scimping on material in this area. Larger size would be huge in the shoulders. Bought another style and same thing. I have a coat version in another style and that is fine. Why is there a difference?

I was very disappointed in the color. Thought it would be more of a vibrant green like the monitor showed. In reality, it is a rather dull looking green. It also is a lot of money for how flimsy it is. It does fit well.

Tight. I normally taken between 2xl & 3xl...but this just would not cut it. Extremely disappointing. It was hot to even try on...would be nice with some ventilation. Wish had inside pockets
