I returned this jacket. It was too fitted for a busty person. An extra large would have been way to big. This jacket in relaxed fit would have been perfect.

I have this jacket in 2x, an older version. It fits fine. I wanted to replace it as the lining is coming off in the hood area. This jacket is too tight and I will return or give to someone else. It's good to have room to wear a sweater or sweatshirt underneath in cooler weather.

Bought to wear when it rains. Wore once in medium rain and was soaking wet. Love the jacket otherwise but returned it. Need something to actually keep me dry in the rain

After 8 or 9 months, this jacket is not the least bit water repellent. I get wet with it, and now need to find a replacement. I live in the south, so I didn't want a heavy rain jacket. At first I loved this. But am disappointed that it gets damp all the way through.

Overall I like the coat. I don't love the coat. It fits fine except in the shoulders/upper arms. It is little snug and hinders movement - so its not as comfortable as it could be. It is the type of coat I will wear "if I have to". On the other hand - a coat I ordered a month earlier fits great (same size/type, just not a rain jacket). Absolutely love that coat and wear it all the time. It would be an awesome jacket if they could just improve the sizing/fit.

This is a lovely jacket, with a feminine cut and a great color (I chose the green). Based on what I read on sizing, I opted for a medium petite, as I wanted something a bit roomy to be able to wear over a sweater. The fit was great - without a sweater - although the sleeves were a little on the long side. But that's usually the case for me, and better a bit too long than a bit too short. With the cut, which comes in at the waist instead of the usual straight down of outdoor jackets, this looked terrific when I put it on, over a light cotton blouse. However, next test, I put it on over my aran sweater, which is what I usually wear in cool weather, and the arms were just way too tight. It was also a bit tight across the front of the shoulders, which I could have lived with, as it was comfortable across the middle and hips. But my arms felt like sausages stuffed into the sleeves. And, i realized that the jacket wasn't even as long as my sweater. I was tempted to keep this for a summery warm rain type of rain jacket, as it is so pretty and comfortable (without the sweater), but then I would have still had to look for another one that would work on blustery days in the mountains or in the colder parts of the year when i need to wear it over a sweater. As I am trying to minimize consumption, I want ONE rain jacket that I can wear on its own in the warmer season, or over my sweater in the colder season. So, with a bit of regret, I am returning this, and continuing the search for a replacement for my previous bright magenta LLBean jacket that after several years no longer keeps out the rain.

I had bought a winter coat from LL Bean last fall in a size regular XL and it fits me great. So I ordered this rain coat in the same size and was unpleasantly surprised that it appears to be one size smaller even though it is labeled as an XL. I've bought other LL Bean clothes in the past and the sizes are generally consistent. Not sure what happened with this one, especially since it is suggested that you can layer under it. But otherwise I like the color and style and I am going to give the next size up a go. If it repels water like my winter coat, it will do the job for me. I would recommend to a friend but would advise them to order a size larger than the size they usually get when buying from LL Bean.

I got this jacket for hikes in the rain and snow. I like the way it feels. I like the features of the jacket. I do not like that it was wet inside when I got back from my hike. Apparently it doesn't breathe well at all. I am returning this one and will spend the money for something GoreTex just for breathability.

This was called "Yellow jasper", & was pictured as a soft litght yellow...like butter?!! It is chartreuse which makes my skin look green, and I feel like puking. Not a pretty color at all. AND, the shoulders are tight & the nylon makes so much noise! I am so disappointed to not be able to find a good rain jacket..I love most of my LLBean clothing, but this has to go back. I hate having to pay to ship this back as it was not what was described. I wish you had more + clothing in stores, & hope to find what I needed.

This jacket is a replacement to my original Trail model Rain jacket. This model does not have the under arm vent zips. I miss the under arm vent zippers a lot. This jacket does the job of keeping you dry and runs true to size. It fits easily into my backpack when hiking.

Before ordering this jacket, I reached out to LLBean customer service. I told them that I specifically need a waterproof (or close to waterproof) rain jacket that I can wear over my LLBean down jacket (size 1X). Customer Service suggested this jacket and provided me with the chest measurement for both the 1X and 2X. After checking the measurements against the down jacket and reading other reviews, I ordered 1X. I tried on the jacket over a cardigan sweater and noticed immediately the sleeves were too tight. Over the down jacket, I couldn't zip it. I will be returning this jacket and am debating exchanging for a 2X or just returning and looking for something else. Very concerned the 2X sleeves might also be too snug. I will reread the other reviews before I decide. My LLBean 1X down jacket fits great, wish I could just reliably order the same size. I don't actually know if I would recommend this jacket to others, but the review form requires an answer, so I have said "no" for now. The key issues will be getting a size that fits and how it performs in the rain (which I can't judge without having a jacket that fits).

The Velcro closure does not stay closed if you don't use the zipper. Zippers are hard for me to close due to a balance isssue and I need an alternate closure. Usually snaps work very well, but not the case with Velcro.

I ordered a petite medium. Sleeves were about 3" too long. The hood is so large it goes over my head and covers my eyes. I have to fold it back. I wear a 36C and the bust area just fits. I probably could not wear a heavy sweater with it. If I could go to the post office, I would return it, but since I can't shop elsewhere now, I will just keep it. I do love the blue color though.

For the price I would definitely recommend this jacket. The light blue color is a nice change from dark, wintery colors and I have received compliments about it. I am usually a perfect extra small petite with other stores but LL Bean has always been a little large. I love their quality but my biggest complaint is that the sleeves are way, way too long. I probably will get them altered. Bean, I will continue to buy your quality made merchandise but please take a note that extra small petite means SMALL.

The jacket is well styled and beautiful; however the sleeves are too tight to allow a turtleneck underneath it an still be able to bend your arms at the elbow. Alas I must return it.

I wouldn't call this jacked "slightly fitted." It fits me in the waist but it's gigantic in the hips. Fortunately the bungee cord at the bottom takes up the slack. Why is it that women's clothing is supposed to hug the body but men's is comfortably loose? Thus men have room for a fleece under the jacket but women don't. We're supposed to give up warmth for the sake of being attractive. The fit of the Trail Model jacket has gotten worse over the years, more "feminine" and less practical. Bean's, do you realize that more than half of women are an apple shape, not an hour-glass or pear shape?? And that way over half of American women are overweight? The jacket is a bit too long. Another problem is the velcro closure at the wrist---the velcro on the strap goes beyond the velcro on the sleeve, so you can't get it closed tight. I haven't tested this jacket in the rain yet. I've had three previous models of this jacket. None of them were reliable in the rain and I never trusted them in cold, wet weather where hypothermia was a risk. The lining on all three past jackets peeled badly. Time will tell if these two major problems have been corrected and to what extent this jacket is actually waterproof and under what conditions. At the moment I can't say whether this is a going-to-the-grocery-store jacket or a remote-hiking-in-a-hard-November-rain jacket. More info from Bean's on the waterproofing would be helpful so we know what to expect. We need to know this for safety in cold wet weather.

I bought this rain jacket in yellow. It's really a nice color and pops in the backdrop of a rainy day. It looks great and fits great. I just wish it had snaps front instead of Velcro. Velcro cheapens the jacket and it can destroy other fabrics it comes in contact with. It pulls on sweaters and my long hair (even in a braid or ponytail) got caught in it a few times while I was hiking.

It is what it says it is...a rain jacket with adjustable sleeves (velcro) that will likely hit you about hip length. My issue is that it does not have a two way zipper so when you sit down with the zipper in use it is binding at the bottom of the jacket. PLEASE put two way zippers on these non-stretch jackets so we can adjust when we are sitting - whether in the car, on the boat, on the picnic table or whatever. A simple adjustment to the design would make this a keeper for a short rain jacket.

I had an older version of this jacket and loved it. So I was happy to buy it again when my old one was not as waterproof as it should be. But the new style, while lighter, is much smaller than my old. Very disappointed. Returned and I'll just keep my old.

Great colors, nice feeling fabric, too fitted for a rain jacket, would like a little room for layer underneath. Arms too tight. Usually size fits me well. Wanted to like it, but had to return it.

I had the older trail model rain coat in an XL, and I had room to wear multiple layers underneath comfortably. When I ordered this raincoat, I listened to the other reviews, and sized up to a 1X. The rain coat fits, and defintely repels water, however, the arms and chest are tighter than I would have expected, so if you have a larger chest or arms, expect it to be much tighter than the older model.

I bought it a size larger than I usually wear so that I could wear a fleece under it on cooler days. I didn't find it totally moisture proof, plus it wasn't that great at wicking moisture away.

I bought Clover. It was a bright green on line but it is actually a dull green. The pockets have a mesh lining but there is a slight opening on the lining. If I put keys in the pocket, they will probably fall out. It fits well. Other than the color and the openings in the pockets it is a good jacket. I am thinking about returning it for a better color. I wish I went to the store to buy it so I could see the color for myself.
