I followed the measurements and ordered recommended size based on chest measurement. Product was way too large in the rest of the body area/slightly large in chest area. Not a great description to say slightly fitted. It's huge.

I loved previous LL Bean fleece vests, but this one is a big fail for several reasons. It's too snug, too short, and the fabric is not plush like Polartec. In addition, the waist seam just adds bulk -- why?! Small fixes I made include carefully removing the ugly logo patch on the chest and carefully removing the uncomfortable nylon binding that runs around the top of the collar. I also took off the zipper pulls on all the zippers -- much more attractive for the colors that don't go with orange. I also ordered (and wear) the man's version in a Tall, which provides a looser, longer fit.

I am a loyal LLBean shopper, and have been for decades. I am not liking the prominent llbean logo on most shirts, vests etc. making me not purchase these items. .

In all the years I have been purchasing these vests these two are awful. When they were washed the first time, I had to rerun the washer then wipe it out from the lint. Once in the dryer with fabric sheets, I had to do the same. I must have missed something as these are not what I had purchased in the past.
I need instructions to return these as they were Christmas gifts. (fyi: a photo won't show you what I had to deal with in my washer and dryer.)

BRING BACK THE TRAIL MODEL VEST.
This is a terrible product in comparison to the Trail Model vest I have been buying for years. Whoever told you a mid seam was a good idea?
WHY, OH WHY does LL Bean keep changing favorites that have been sold for years. By all means, offer new products, but stop taking away the classics. Are you trying to lose all of your loyal, 40-year + customers?
Smh.

Having loved the previous LLBean's women's fleece vest, I was hopeful about the new design. I noted some of the negative comments of others, but the overall number of stars seemed to balance critical points. Now that I've worn this vest for a couple weeks, I am here to warn you to be aware of some serious issues. As others have previously stated, the collar is extremely stiff; to the point where it is uncomfortable & overly bulky when worn under another jacket. The new "peplum" design feature adds zero to the function of the vest; in fact, only adds an unnecessary seam, which actually makes it more bulky than Bean's earlier fleece vest for women. The current quality of the fleece is also not as good as the previous vest I purchased from Bean. Additionally, the design of the pockets is also bulky, & the cheap zippers scratch your hands as you use the pockets. I would have returned the vest immediately, but needed a fleece vest that weekend, so kept it. It's marginally OK for a single outwear vest, but otherwise a total fail. I certainly hope LLBean will bring back the earlier vest.
I don't like writing negative reviews, but this vest is a stinker. I hope to save someone the search time, eventual disappointment - and wasted expense - that I've experienced.

This wonderful vest is completely ruined for me by the ugly patch on the chest. I didn't really want a patch at all, but I expected, at least, that the patch would be embroidered and the colors vibrant. Neither is the case. The main color is gray-green and the patch is simply printed and very cheap-looking. Zoom in twice on the picture to see what it looks like up close. I wrote to Customer Service to see if the patch could be removed, but they said the stitch-marks would remain. I was hoping to wear it to work in a very chilly building, but I would be embarrassed. Other than that, I would have loved this item. I'm 5' 1", 145 pounds. The Small Petite fits great, and I like the style very much. The navy is not as blue as I wished, slightly gray, but it was close enough. I sure hope that this patch is removed for next season. I notice that all the sweater fleeces have a similar patch, so I won't be buying any more colors of those either until the patch it goes away.
