Loved the coat for its functionality but returned because I thought it looked unflattering. I'm small but the wide cut bottom was a big too wide.

Absolutely sheds rain, which was the most important thing to me. Nice big pockets, and far more foldable/packable than the typically puffy coat. Would really like to have snaps as well as the zipper closure.

Very comfortable warm raincoat. Light to wear or carry. XL regular fit well with a long sleeve shirt and fleece vest.

I purchased this coat for a holiday vacation. We spent a lot of time outside in the rain and cold. It kept me both warm and dry. I would have given 5 stars if it had a chest pocket like the men's style.

I went outside with this jacket for a walk in 40 degrees F. It was a bit warm for this temperature, which is a good sign. I did snag it on a sharp object and repaired with tape temporarily. I hope to be able to stitch up the hole with needle and thread. The purple is a gorgeous shade, but I wish Bean would add some new colors...

I bought this coat for a February trip to Amsterdam and England where temps are what we have experienced so far this winter. Coat is warm enough. My only complaint is the wierd collar. It has to be left open because it is not comfortable zipped up over the chin for regular use. As my neck must be covered for warmth, I have to wear a scarf or deal with the collar that is thin, and so loosely fitted, with and plastic zipper pull against the chin that the warmth that the warmth andcomfort level are comoromised. A scarf doesn't work well with the the lay of the collar. Were the collar lined with a softer material and redesigned to fit more snugly, it would be a 5.

I bought the Medium so I can fit a fleece jacket underneath. This works well.

loved how warm this is and it held up well for erratic weather in finland in May/June, however for waistpack wearers, it's a real drag there is no snap closures to keep chest area closed without having to rely on zipper. will buy again if this is redesigned with snaps in front. Likewise, a two way zipper would be SO MUCH better, so we could close top. Bottom zips don't add value and money would have been better spent providing two way front zip and snaps, as others have noted. given this is for shoulder seasons, and weather changes fast, it's functionality would be SO enhanced with these additions. love the pink

I bought this jacket for an Alaskan cruise and it was perfect. It fit in my luggage well and kept me warm and dry while on the ship and on shore. It rains a lot in Alaska so it was one item I was glad I had. The only reason I gave it a 4 and not a 5 is because I wish the zipper was made better. It looks cheap and I worry that that parts of the jacket won't hold up for years.

I bought this jacket for a trip to Switzerland in June. I needed a warm., light weight , water and wind proof jacket. I feel like this will fit all my needs while I am there as the weather is rainy and is 40 to 60 degrees. It will be colder in the mountains. I live the color. I bought the pink. It is light weight as described. It is suppose to pack flat into it's own pocket. No directions came with the jacket as how to pack it. There is a video on line but it goes so fast you can not really see how it is being folded. I wish that I printed instructions had come with the jacket or they were posted on.line.. My daughter finally got it stuffed into pocket but it is not neat or flat like the picture. Other wise I am very happy with the jacket. I rated it hood because of the problem we had with packing.

Great jacket. I needed something that provided a little warmth when raining (40 -50 degrees F). My only complaint is the zipper. It's a little hard to zip up. I will try putting soap on the zipper to see if that will help.

Loving the jacket, just hard to maintain visibility when using the hood. Have not had a chance to use it in the rain but I'm sure it will hold up.

I bought this to take to Iceland last fall. I needed a coat that would be waterproof, medium warm, light weight, have room for added layers and be comfortable for long days outdoors. It was perfect for the trip and I have received complements about it while wearing it at home this winter.

I bought this jacket several years ago and I have loved it. It's not great for really cold weather (less than 20 degrees, less than 30 degrees if windy) but otherwise it's good. I love the generous pockets. I like the extra zippers. It has become less water resistant over the years but an application of silicone spray helped. It has worn well except for one thing. The outer shell is pilling. and the pills are white so they stand out against the blue color. I pick them off but more return. I haven't tried a fabric shaver, but I will because I otherwise like this jacket and want to continue wearing it.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Super light, packable jacket. One of the main reasons I bought it - to travel and to use as a year round jacket. It is warm, but not for extreme low temperatures. I wore a light wool jacket underneath on-20F weather, while snow shoeing, and I was very warm. Great jacket for year round outdoor activities. Tested the waterproof qualities in recent moderate, freezing rain and stayed warm and dry. Love the pit zips - essential for strenuous exercise activities in cold weather. Wish it had a double sided zipper. However, it has zippers in the sides/rear which help. I also bought a size larger so it is looser and I can use a more substantial layer underneath if needed. The zipper is plastic - heavy duty, it seems, but at this price point, I would prefer a heavy duty metal zipper. It has 2 large pockets plus an inside, very large pocket. It would be preferable to have more pockets - having the pockets be side and top access would be nice, particularly if they were separated so one would have 4 pockets, instead of just 2. Bought the purple which is a nice deep color. Initially bought the large which fit, but exchanged it for XL to have more room. Wish they had better colors-burgundy or wine. Overall a good jacket so I kept it.

Love the flattering fit and especially the way it zips up and over my chin. That kept my neck very warm, especially when I wore my scarf underneath it. I wore this to visit family in Fargo where there was snow, wind and 25 weather. I had layered a light jacket underneath the coat, but I still got cold. Mostly my upper arms. The hood is excellent for warmth and fits around ear muffs. In Arizona, it keeps me warm when our temps get into the 40's. I haven't packed it into itself yet, but the coat is lightweight so it should work fine. I love all the pockets and how deep they are. I can use this coat as my purse!

My daughter likes the coat a lot. Will see if it works for skiing in New England as I can not tell if it is warm enough. I find the "mud flap" zippers odd and am not really sure how to use them. Love the color. The coat is a bit longer than a traditional ski jacket. I would have preferred a larger hood to go over a ski helmet.

Ive owned one of these jackets for two winters. This is an update to my earlier 5* review. It is incredibly light and cozy, perfect for moderately cold days in my climate (NYC and Ohio) and works on top of a serious fleece or warm sweater on the coldest days here. Nice and long for a jacket and respectable enough to wear to church etc. Pretty darn waterproof too, despite its lightness. However, the shell is disappointingly fragile - it got seriously snagged by thorns in the woods while birdwatching. After that, the filling started coming out in little threads. I thought it had gotten something white on it til I examined closely. Dont know whether this would affect the waterproof characteristics but it is certainly unsightly. I am getting a replacement, but will have to be more careful about where I take it. Consequently not recommended for bushwhacking!

The jacket is true to size and overall seems like it'll be good for winter hikes, snowshoeing, etc. Since it was purchased as a Christmas gift and I haven't worn it yet I can't comment too much more yet.

Jacket is very comfortable, fits nicely with the cinch-able waist. Definitely need to layer if the temp is below 40 - today was mid-30s and windy and I was comfortable with LL Bean's heavy weight wool base layer and a sweater under this jacket for a 4 mile walk with my dogs. My only complaint is the hood - the small peak (although probably serves well to divert rain off face) is stiff and very strange looking, and the hood itself is not that easy to adjust. I am 5'8, 145 lbs and a medium fits well with room for layers. It falls at the hips.

Good jacket that meets the primary objective of being waterproof and packable. Attractive color, water beads up well, not bulky, and warm. Reason for not being 5-star. Not as warm as my 20-year old LLBean genuine down jacket which is water-resistant but got me soaked in 40 degree rainy day which is common in NC mountains. But it works as well with intermediate layer. Also, zipper was a bit stiff, but with a little candle wax and paste wax applied with q-tip, now zips effortlessly. I got medium rather than small (I'm 5'3" 120 lbs) so I could wear fleece or vest underneath. I'm a transplanted Miami girl who gets out a sweater when temp goes below 70 :).LLBean is tops for warmth. Sure wish I would have had it on our Alaska cruise. Down jacket too cumbersome to pack and/or take on a plane in June. I would recommend to a friend.

Haven't had much chance to wear this yet, but I love the lightness of it, and the fact that it is waterproof. Also love that it comes in a number of colors -- I have too much navy and black outerwear!

This jacket is warm & very waterproof! Served me well in Iceland! Would have loved for it to come in more colors - as well for the price point to be a little lower. I feel like $150-180 range is more appropriate for the calibur of this jacket.

I purchased this jacket in July...so as reasonably expected...I am unable to comment on the warmth of the jacket...however...I have had other LLBean jackets...and they have all proved to offer the required warmth...as advertised...during cold weather. The color is perfect...the fit is perfect...and I especially like the comfort of the soft cuffs that are hidden inside the sleeve...a nice feature to prohibit the cold from going up your sleeve. The longer design in the back is sufficient to cover one's backside for added warmth. I am anxious for the cold weather to arrive !!

I haven't had a chance yet to put this jacket to the test, but it fits great and is very comfortable. I thought it would fold up smaller than it does, but it is rather ingenious that it folds into a pocket. I'm looking forward to being warm and dry in Iceland.
