Small Petite, the Best of the Best coat I bought in a very long time.
Fit is perfect. so light you would never guess it is so warm. Today in NYC was in the 50 degrees. I wore it with a light sweater under it. Wonderfully warm.
The best, for me is the HOOD. All coats and jackets, except LL Bean have huge hoods for giant heads, worthless in term of keeping the wind and cold.
This one is winner, It closes and keeps my head and ears warm without a hat....The price? I think it this way. I will wear it many seasons, the quality of the material is excellent...And will soon forget how much I [paid for.it You get what you pay for.!!!

So lightweight, but warm. Love the marine blue color. Exactly what I needed for cold rainy days.

I bought this when planning for a fall trip to the Scottish Highlands. I never pay this much for a jacket but it had absolutely everything I was looking for. Built-in stuff pocket, thermal liner, waterproof. I especially like the inside waist drawstring, to create as much fit as you like. I would agree that comments recommending a two-way front zipper are fully justified.
Great jacket. Warm, dry, stylish.

This is the perfect jacket for in-between weather of all kinds. The material is waterproof and windproof, so it works for cool to cold weather, wet, dry, or windy. It is just the right length for comfort and the primaloft is light but warm. I love all the pockets and the soft elastic around the wrists that keeps out wind and water. Also, the hood fits nicely. Since I bought it, I have worn it nearly every day. It's not an 850 fill down winter parka, but it's roomy enough for a heavy sweater, so it works well for much of the year.

Wore the Packaway Jacket throughout the rainy, cold Tennessee winter and it kept me dry and warm. Next took it to Iceland and it was perfect was the unpredictable rain, snow, and wind. Put it in the washing machine and it came out just fine!. HIghly recommended!

I wore this jacket everyday while on vacation. The weather changed from feezing, to rain, to mild quite often and this jacket was perfect in all weather. I like the longer fit (about to the top of the thigh) and the adjustable hood is much better than other hooded jackets I have. It is definitely worth the price.

Bought this coat after searching for a long time. Some were too long, others too short. This one is just right :) I wish it were a bit warmer for the coldest of days, but it is still very functional as a good everyday coat in North Carolina in the winter.

Fit perfectly, just what I wanted...a water-repellant longer somewhat fitted jacket for our up and down weather in Buffalo. Extremely light-weight but warm, and I don't get hot when in the car or walking! I got the red color (it was on sale), and hardly notice LL Bean logo. I agree that it would be nice if you could fold hood up and away from sight, but, hey, you can't have everything.

Without a doubt, this is the raincoat I've been looking for for years. I was worried about spending so much, but I have to honestly say it's much more than a raincoat, and I expect to wear it for years.
The blue color is perfect, as is the length and fit. I've worn it with medium weight shirts and sweaters, and it's very comfortable. The first three times I wore it were a mix of 36-45 degrees, rain and snow, and breezy. It was plenty warm enough, and the precipitation rolled right off.
It works perfectly as a raincoat, but also as just a jacket. It doesn't look so much like a raincoat, so it also works perfectly on a cool, sunny day.
The features are perfect, too. The soft cuffs at the end of the sleeves are comfortable, not too tight. The side pockets are right where I expect pockets to be, and the pocket zippers move easily. The right inside pocket is a good size. The left inside zippered pocket is a little too big, I think. It doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the jacket, but it's pretty deep. My arm would have to reach pretty far down to retrieve anything. But it's certainly not a deal breaker.
I would recommend this raincoat without any reservations at all. I really do love it!

I love this jacket it is my second one first one was stolen, Light yet warm sometimes it super toasty. (I'm a freeze baby) I'm normally do not do hoods however it is wonderful to have . I can move freely in my car while driving. Oh did I mention you can pack it into its own pocket what is not to LOVE.
Love the side zippers at the bottom for extra movement getting in and out of the car I'm a little fluffy in the mid section but there are small adjusters inside to either gather or not > BUY IT !

Debated on this jacket for quite awhile due to cost. Finally made the sacrifice to purchase. Now, I want to give away most of my other jackets because this one is my favorite. I wanted a lightweight yet warm coat that didn't make me look like I should be "on the slopes" and this one keeps me warm with a bit more elegance. Thank you LLBean for your attention to customers of all ages!

I was looking to replace an old LL Bean jacket that I have had for about 20 yrs that was warm and lightweight. This is a perfect replacement. Has the warmth but not the bulk.

I am in love with this jacket - the fit is perfect! I always wear a small at LL Bean. This jacket fits a bit roomy to allow for layering (fleeces/sweatshirts) but not so big that I would suggest down sizing. If you don't plan on layering or you like things to fit like a glove then maybe you'd want to consider going down a size. I think that this fits exactly how a jacket should fit though. Even with a thinner sweater underneath this jacket is so warm without the bulk! I've been out an about in 20 degree weather (light activity/short duration) and it still feels warm! I love that it's lightweight and I can wear into the Spring. A little pricey, but I think it's worth it if you can catch a sale.

I especially like the rib band under the sleeve. It blocks the wind from coming under the cuffs. The jacket was just what I needed and all that it was described in the catalog.

I really liked it. Wanted a winter coat that has waterproofing ( NE weather) But was too small for me.
Wished more of LL Bean's coats, jackets etc., offered women's sizes.

This jacket is everything that I have been looking for. It is attractive, fits well, is waterproof, and most importantly to me, it is very light weight. I use a wheelchair and sit all the time so I need a jacket that is warm enough in cold weather and is light enough for me to handle. This jacket goes a long way toward solving my problem, but it needs to be a little warmer for it to be completely useful. Maybe down to 20F .

All of my coats are L.L. Beam. I purchased this coat because I was leaving New York to vacation in San Diego for a month and needed a coat that was easy to pack. My very warm coat is too bulky. I bought another coat from L.L. Bean that was similar but the length was too short and did not cover my tee shirts. The length on this coat is perfect for me. It was very waterproof and the hood fits perfectly, too. You need to layer for very cold weather, it is not that warm but I don't mind doing that to have a perfect length and packable coat.

I'd been looking for a below the hip, waterproof, breathable jacket for temperatures just above and just below freezing for some time. This jacket is just what I wanted. The light weight and packability were bonuses. On me the medium petite has room for a fairly heavy fleece jacket underneath. On trips it's been great to stuff the jacket in my backpack, wear the fleece on the plane, and be ready for almost anything when I arrive.

I am a petite 71 year old and have been searching for a coat like this for years.
Many coats providing enough warmth are too bulky . And coats that are lighter in weight just haven't been warm enough or offered the coverage.. As advertised, this coat is very light and comfortable to wear but is very warm and waterproof. The fit is excellent. The only downside I believe is the price. I did have Bean Bucks to use which cut the price considerably. It's a jacket I know I will be able to wear winter, spring and fall. Excellent product!

I recently reviewed this jacket very favorably, but forgot to mention the chest logo. I do not like chest logos. I decided to keep the jacket because everything else is so good, but wish LLBean would not put their logo on the chest! Put it on the side near the hem if at all.

Ok, I took it out of bag when I received it, very sceptical. Extremely light and thin. I was hoping for a replacement for a very worn coat I wear transitioning from fall to cold winter (down coat). Last week, warm for Cleveland. Today 24 degrees. I had a fleece on and this coat.....it met the test......I love this coat. I would suggest anyone make this purchase! Thin, light and warm!

I will never get rid of my old LLBean pea jacket, but decided I needed a lightweight version that would offer the same warmth. At 40 degrees outside, one needs a flannel shirt with a silk or cotton layer underneath, and then this primaloft packaway jacket. I bought a large because I wanted the jacket to accommodate layers, which it does. This is a very attractive all purpose jacket.

Bought this for a fall trip to Germany, Switzerland and Austria. It rained on several occasions including the entire time we were hiking up the 1 mile plus a little hill to Neuschwanstein Castle and waiting for our tour to start. I was warm and dry. And when I didn't need it, it was in my backpack without adding weight or much bulk. It packs in it's pocket easily enough but I discovered another way that didn't create quite as many wrinkles to shake out. If you lay the coat flat on its back, fold the the arms across and then fold the sides in (much like folding a shirt for packing), then roll it up from the bottom. The hood makes a nice little 'case' to hold it all as a bundle and you can stuff it in your pack. I bought the blue and my husband chose the black. The blue is a very nice color and the Small left plenty of room for multiple layers. Off to Colorado this week to see how it performs in the snow. Should I need it, I will have my trusty Rugged Ridge Parka handy,

I have a nightmare with jackets - if they are wide enough for my shoulders, and roomy enough to wear a sweater underneath, the arms are way too long. I love that fact that this jacket feels as if it is made for me, flattering, not too bulky - love that the sleeves don't cover my finger tips, love the longer length, especially in the back, love the simple styling which doesn't look as if you've just come off the mountain when you're walking around town. It was expensive but I hope will last me a long time. I really don't like water resistant jackets - they're like so called raincoats without hoods, just not very practical. I bought the Khaki color - the orange lining is. lovely shade, really different and just adds a pop of color around the face and stops the whole thing from looking too beige. I am planning on taking it with me to the Scotland next month - I am confident that I will be absolutely dry and comfortable in the worst that the weather can throw at me there!
