I especially like the rib band under the sleeve. It blocks the wind from coming under the cuffs. The jacket was just what I needed and all that it was described in the catalog.

I really liked it. Wanted a winter coat that has waterproofing ( NE weather) But was too small for me.
Wished more of LL Bean's coats, jackets etc., offered women's sizes.
Through family members an LLBean customer since 1960's

This jacket is everything that I have been looking for. It is attractive, fits well, is waterproof, and most importantly to me, it is very light weight. I use a wheelchair and sit all the time so I need a jacket that is warm enough in cold weather and is light enough for me to handle. This jacket goes a long way toward solving my problem, but it needs to be a little warmer for it to be completely useful. Maybe down to 20F .

All of my coats are L.L. Beam. I purchased this coat because I was leaving New York to vacation in San Diego for a month and needed a coat that was easy to pack. My very warm coat is too bulky. I bought another coat from L.L. Bean that was similar but the length was too short and did not cover my tee shirts. The length on this coat is perfect for me. It was very waterproof and the hood fits perfectly, too. You need to layer for very cold weather, it is not that warm but I don't mind doing that to have a perfect length and packable coat.

I'd been looking for a below the hip, waterproof, breathable jacket for temperatures just above and just below freezing for some time. This jacket is just what I wanted. The light weight and packability were bonuses. On me the medium petite has room for a fairly heavy fleece jacket underneath. On trips it's been great to stuff the jacket in my backpack, wear the fleece on the plane, and be ready for almost anything when I arrive.

I am a petite 71 year old and have been searching for a coat like this for years.
Many coats providing enough warmth are too bulky . And coats that are lighter in weight just haven't been warm enough or offered the coverage.. As advertised, this coat is very light and comfortable to wear but is very warm and waterproof. The fit is excellent. The only downside I believe is the price. I did have Bean Bucks to use which cut the price considerably. It's a jacket I know I will be able to wear winter, spring and fall. Excellent product!

I recently reviewed this jacket very favorably, but forgot to mention the chest logo. I do not like chest logos. I decided to keep the jacket because everything else is so good, but wish LLBean would not put their logo on the chest! Put it on the side near the hem if at all.

Ok, I took it out of bag when I received it, very sceptical. Extremely light and thin. I was hoping for a replacement for a very worn coat I wear transitioning from fall to cold winter (down coat). Last week, warm for Cleveland. Today 24 degrees. I had a fleece on and this coat.....it met the test......I love this coat. I would suggest anyone make this purchase! Thin, light and warm!

I will never get rid of my old LLBean pea jacket, but decided I needed a lightweight version that would offer the same warmth. At 40 degrees outside, one needs a flannel shirt with a silk or cotton layer underneath, and then this primaloft packaway jacket. I bought a large because I wanted the jacket to accommodate layers, which it does. This is a very attractive all purpose jacket.

Bought this for a fall trip to Germany, Switzerland and Austria. It rained on several occasions including the entire time we were hiking up the 1 mile plus a little hill to Neuschwanstein Castle and waiting for our tour to start. I was warm and dry. And when I didn't need it, it was in my backpack without adding weight or much bulk. It packs in it's pocket easily enough but I discovered another way that didn't create quite as many wrinkles to shake out. If you lay the coat flat on its back, fold the the arms across and then fold the sides in (much like folding a shirt for packing), then roll it up from the bottom. The hood makes a nice little 'case' to hold it all as a bundle and you can stuff it in your pack. I bought the blue and my husband chose the black. The blue is a very nice color and the Small left plenty of room for multiple layers. Off to Colorado this week to see how it performs in the snow. Should I need it, I will have my trusty Rugged Ridge Parka handy,

I have a nightmare with jackets - if they are wide enough for my shoulders, and roomy enough to wear a sweater underneath, the arms are way too long. I love that fact that this jacket feels as if it is made for me, flattering, not too bulky - love that the sleeves don't cover my finger tips, love the longer length, especially in the back, love the simple styling which doesn't look as if you've just come off the mountain when you're walking around town. It was expensive but I hope will last me a long time. I really don't like water resistant jackets - they're like so called raincoats without hoods, just not very practical. I bought the Khaki color - the orange lining is. lovely shade, really different and just adds a pop of color around the face and stops the whole thing from looking too beige. I am planning on taking it with me to the Scotland next month - I am confident that I will be absolutely dry and comfortable in the worst that the weather can throw at me there!

I bought my first Waterproof PrimaLoft Packaway Jacket in black about a year ago after I noticed how many passengers on a December Rhine River cruise were wearing similar coats/jackets while I was burdened with a heavy wool coat. And even though I have dropped about 15 pounds since then the Large still fits my slight pear shape well enough so that I can wear a heavy sweater underneath (a requirement today in single digit wind chill). The front pockets location is ideal for me since they are positioned where my hands naturally look for pockets. The large inside pocket on the left is just deep enough as to not be annoying when I look to retrieve a phone, change purse, etc. And the hood keeps me totally protected on those early morning doggie "necessities" outings. I like this coat enough to buy a 2nd in white...today. Turn it inside out to machine wash and I let it line dry inside. A good and wise investment.

This jacket is absolutely beautiful in both construction and the feel of the fabric. No crinkly sound, soft to the touch, with wonderful pocket placement for me (some people didn't like where they were, but I did). The attached "bag" inside is easy to use and figure out when you want to pack it up to make it "small". I have purchased it for a South American cruise next month that goes around the cape, so it will be worn in a cold, and likely wet climate. Although the medium "technically" fit, even with a long sleeved fleece underneath, it was still a "little" snug in the bust and across the back and middle area. It actually fit fine in the hip area which surprised me. I am 5'6" and158-ish in weight and have a bust size (36DD). I have ordered a large for comparison and will keep the one that is the most flattering (I'm sure it will be the large so I don't look sausage-like). I feel if you are a "curvy" customer you might consider sizing up (it cuts in a little at the waist) where a more slender/athletic (and less "apple or pear shaped) person might need to order size appropriate.

I was looking for a lightweight, easy to shove in a bag jacket that's very warm (I'm typically wrangling little kids, their coats, and belongings and was finding that hauling a large parka around just wasn't working anymore). For that purpose, this jacket is AWESOME!!!!!! It's super warm and light (surprisingly warm considering how thin it is). I don't mind that it's boxy at all--plenty of room for a thick fleece or sweater under it (which I'm finding that I often don't need because the jacket really is that warm). Like other reviewers have mentioned, the pockets are weird and strangely low--however, the other benefits are so valuable to me that I just don't care (the pockets ARE roomy, though, which, for my purposes, can be great (lots of little kid items fit into them if I'm wearing the coat). It packs down really small and can fit in a roomy purse or diaper bag easily. I loved it so much, I got it in more than one color and my mom was so impressed with it (after seeing mine in action and trying it on for herself on a very, very cold day) that she's considering one for herself. I highly recommend it (as long as you're fine with some low-hanging pockets).

I love this jacket but had to return a Large and reorder an XL--perfect for my big hips. (The large was true to size but did not have room to layer a thick sweater beneath.) I need a coat to be waterproof for rain days, warm for snow days and long enough to cover the part of me that gets the coldest! It's well worth the return and re order. My Christmas gift to myself! Plus the blue is a gorgeous true color.

just what I needed and hoped for when I bought it. Lots of compliments on it. I am allergic to down so this is a great down alternative.

Everything I was looking for, ie a rain jacket with liner for warmth. The fit is good, plenty of arm length and room to fit 2 layers underneath. It's been comfortably warm in 20 degree temperatures. I agree with other reviewers that a 2-way zipper is desirable. I'd also like a small pocket in the collar to stow the hood when not needed.

I like this jacket bc it is comfortable, packable, and well made. I've worn it when the temperature was 38-45 degrees and it kept me warm. I like the longer length.

I couldn't be more happy with my jacket: it's not stuff like some windproof shells. I've worn it during my morning walks WITH a down layer. With temperatures at 29, the jacket protected me from wind and chill due to its Primaloft AND the additional down jacket I wear. My only request? I'd love it in more softer colors, say a sage green, or light brown or khaki. If L.L.Bean does make the jacket in these colors, I will definitely purchase it! Excellent purchase for me!

I chose the red rain jacket because I often walk early in the morning before the sun comes up. I want to be seen. I am pleased with the color in daylight, too. It is very comfortable and warm enough for Oregon weather. The hood does not obstruct my side view like my raincoats do.

I'm very happy with my jacket. Looks great on and the longer length is wonderful. Only issue I have is no small chest pocket for cell phone. Also the interior pocket on the left side is too deep to be functional. it definitely needs a an accessible secure phone pocket. Love the style weight and color.
