I bought this for hiking after going back and forth between some other options both LL Bean and not, I could not be happier with my purchase! The weekend after I got it, I went hiking and it was misting, which turned into driving rain for the next 5 miles. I was COMPLETELY DRY where my friends' rain coat was completely soaked through. Worth the money! High quality! The only minor downside is it is not as warm as I hoped it would be. But a long-sleeve underneath will fix that problem (and has)

This is the best coat I've ever owned. It is so versatile and comfortable. Works equally well skiing, sledding with the kids, or walking around town. It's very warm but will not overheat you if the temps climb or you work up a sweat hiking or skiing. I love the fleece wrist cuffs, the inside pocket, and the lightweight ease of this coat. The color is beautiful. Can't say enough good things about it, I'm so glad I got it.

The fit is slimming, plenty of pockets. The coat is sufficiently warm even though it is not bulky. I absolutely LOVE this coat....worth the price!

jacket fits well (i like it a little roomy/not snug). it doesn't offer a box for this this but I got the Petite. we live in Buffalo and walk everyday. have been out in 20 weather with a wind and I am comfortably warm. Hard to believe with how light the jacket is, but I am impressed. Only negative is the placement of the inside pocket. It's way too low - would much rather have it midway or even chest height. Definitely will (and have) recommend it.

I LOVE this coat!! It's the perfect weight; not too heavy and not too thin; it's kept me warm and toasty during this recent cold snap and it's water proof. It's a nice deep color and has plenty of pockets. Highly recommend!

My husband and I both bought these jackets during the LL Bean annual winter sale and could not be more pleased! It's somehow lightweight and really warm in cold weather. I love that it's waterproof - one of the main reasons we bought it - because we live in Nashville and our winters are usually cold and rainy.
I usually wear a small or medium depending on the cut, but the small was way too tight for a winter jacket when you'd want to layer up underneath. The medium is perfect and is long enough that it covers the butt which is nice for extra warmth and so that your pants don't get soaked when it rains. They really did think about everything when making this jacket!

This is the best jacket I have bought in years, I absolutely love it. I bought the Hickory. I will buy another jacket in a different color if it comes on sale. Great jacket for very cold days or moderate days. The small is large enough for layering for those cold mornings.

I don't normally rave about a coat, but I Love This Coat!!!!! It is everything I wanted. Light weight, not bulky yet very warm!! New England has had funny weather this winter from mild to freezing weather and it has kept me very comfortable. On the mornings in the teens I've added a light zip up , perfect! Even the hood is a great fit! I would recommend to anyone who doesn't want a lot of bulk. I originally ordered for our trip to Alaska, but the virus changed those plans. I am sure once we are able to go it will be the perfect coat. Thank you LL Bean!! Worth every penny:)

Excellent coat. So comfortable and lightweight. I've only used it for winter so far with temperatures near 25 degrees and I have done lots of hiking with it on. Best purchase I've ever made when buying a coat for myself and I didn't try it on ahead of time. I love the fabric and color choices. Thank You L.L. Bean!!

I walk with a cane and can no longer hold an umbrella while holding onto grocery bags, etc. This jacket is really waterproof, very lightweight and warm. The hood fits extremely well, is adjustable so that even when zipped up it does not fall down over my eyes. It certainly lives up to its advertising!

I just received my coat yesterday and wore it today. Our weather is in the 20s and I was wearing a sweatshirt and the coat did keep me warm. Since I get cold very easily, I wondered how well it would do, especially since the coat is also NOT bulky like a coat I've had for about 30 years. I stayed warm and the coat fit fine over my sweatshirt. Since I generally wear a size medium or large - depending on the cut of the clothing - I wanted to make sure I had a little extra room to move around in. I wasn't sure whether to get the large or extra large, but I've found the large fits me fine. There are also zippers under the armpit areas to help vent if you get over-heated (something I wasn't aware of when I ordered it). The zippered outside pockets are plenty deep. It's definitely not a bulky coat but it seems to do very well, at least with the cold. I haven't worn it in wet weather yet, but I'm certain it will do well in that case as well. I got the hickory color and am very pleased. I was afraid the color may be a little too bright but it is more of a burnt orange (?) - not bright at all. I recommend this coat!

I wanted a light-weight but warm jacket. This is truly the best! I love to walk and also wanted something a bit longer on cold windy days. This jacket has met all of my needs. Highly recommend it.

This is a perfect jacket for Virginia coastal winters. It protects against the cold winter wind and rain. My only critique is the breast pocket is incredibly deep, which makes the front lay funny when there are items in it.

Super soft and warm. Fits snug, not too tight. Excellent rain coat, I love that it is not cold to the touch. It's a perfect length, falls a couple of inches below the hips to keep you dry even in heavy rain. The hickory is a beautiful shade. I typically go for darker colors, but makes more sense to go for a brighter color in rain gear. My last rain jacket had no insulation and I found it cold and clammy. This coat is absolutely comfy and allows good mobility. I can wear a single layer and the coat over it and stay warm walking my dog in San Francisco in Jan.

I purchased this jacket to wear in the fall when temperatures turn cooler and it has worked as a great transition jacket into the winter. So far there haven't been any issues with it getting wet in the rain or when snow melts on it. The hood helps block the wind on windy days. The longer length in the back provides more coverage and warmth and the side zippers at the bottom provide more room when sitting or driving. That is a nice option to have, especially for women who have more of the hour glass figure. It is comfortable and has been warm enough to wear when I run errands at 20-30 degrees. If I were walking outside in 20-30 degree weather it would be plenty warm enough, but if I am outside and more stationary at that temperature, I prefer my warmer coat. I'm sure it will be a great jacket to wear when we transition from winter to spring.

I needed a lightweight coat that withstands 20's & 30's weather in PA and this coat performs. I can wear a t-shirt underneath and stay warm while walking the dog a few miles a day in the winter months. Good sized pockets for my keys, waste bags & phone. High zippered to fit over my chin and hood fits snug keeping out the wind. Highly recommend.

Super lightweight yet warm coat. Small is big enough to wear a sweatshirt underneath yet still slightly form fitting. Get lots of compliments.

I originally ordered the coat in a large then ordered another in an x-large for comparison. I wear a size 10-12. I wanted a coat that I could layer. The x-large was perfect for me. I got the Mountain Classic vest which is a little puffy. It fits great under this coat on really cold days. But, the coat still looks like a good fit without any layers under it. It is very comfortable whether I am out walking or riding around town running errands. I love the way the coat is a little longer in the back. I think it makes it stylish and unique. I ordered the black so it will go with everything.

This was just what I was looking for! I spent months looking online and other stores and was so happy when I found this jacket. I wanted waterproof, yet soft; warm, but not bulky and this was it! I bought the Hickory color and it's beautiful, a very dark orange red color. I've worn this jacket on warmer, sunny days and hiking when it's been 15 degrees out and have been comfortable in it all the time.
