I bought this coat for a trip to Ireland last Christmas and it has turned out to be the best coat I have ever owned, not to mention the most comfortable one I've ever owned. It was perfect for Ireland for so many reasons: it's unbelievably lightweight and easy to pack, it's super warm and cozy, it kept the damp air out and kept me dry from the drizzle and sea spray, and the shape of the hood really kept the wind off my face. I pulled this coat back out last weekend as I prepared to go to my daughter's sailing regatta on the lake shores of a very cold Michigan day, complete with whipping wind and snow flurries. I was reminded of how much I love this coat, as I was kept perfectly warm tucked inside of it! My upper arms and shoulders get annoyed by a lot of warmer coats by the lack of maneuverability; this coat provides the perfect amount of room for movement, without being big and bulky. I am someone who is freezing all winter long, and I'm so excited to finally have a coat that is both comfy and warm! I came back on the LL Bean website today to purchase this in a different color and remembered that I never wrote a review for it... I wanted to take a moment to write this before I purchase my next one so that you could be assured that you are about to make a fabulous purchase!!!

I am very satisfied with the purchase of this jacket.I wore it on a trip to Canada where the temperature was in the high 40's and low 50's. It is lightweight but very warm and totally waterproof. I ordered a petite small and there is plenty of room for layering or wearing a thick sweater underneath. The pockets are deep and the hood is warm and comfortable. I highly recommend it.

This jacket filled the wardrobe hole when we get into late fall here in the Northeast, when it's too cold for my light shells (which also weren't waterproof), and I don't want to carry around my heavy (and fluffy) parka quite yet, especially when the afternoons are warmer. The jacket is warm (within reason), comfortable, and easy to move in. I wear an XS in L.L.Bean shirts (I have narrow shoulders), but tried these on in the Freeport store so I could see what size I could wear with layers. The Small lets me comfortably layer in multiple shirts/sweaters and a fleece, but still doesn't feel too big on it's own. The jacket goes down just over my butt which is nice and keeps the wind out, but doesn't restrict movement. The only design element I don't love is that the black shade is slightly pale and on the greenish side. It's not unattractive, by any means, just that when it's worn with true/deeper black clothes it looks a little lighter and sometimes mis-matched. Other than that, I love it!

I just returned from a 9 day trip to northern Italy where temps were cool some days, and rainy on others. This jacket is truly waterproof, lightweight, yet warm. it was the perfect travel companion.

I have 2 other Packaway Primaloft jackets, but this one is my favorite because it's waterproof! It's plenty roomy for layering. Now I'm waiting for a good sale so I can get the black one! I wore it when I went back home to promote my book, Slumberina and it was perfect for the unpredictable Iowa weather! Get it, you'll be glad you did!

This has got to be one of the BEST purchases I've made in a long time! I wanted a lightweight waterproof coat that I could use for a trip to Scotland. Not only was this PERFECT for that use, it folds in on itself to be compact and easily packable. I am thrilled with my purchase!

I think this is the best jacket I've ever owned. It is designed with every detail in mind. Great fit (thank you LLBean for making petite sizes!), warm but lightweight, totally waterproof, beautiful color. The soft cuffs make me feel like I'm wearing a comfy sweatshirt. I wear this jacket when I go over to the UK in any season and it keeps me warm and dry. Need to save space? - well just pack it into it's own pocket and now you have a nice pillow or lumbar support for the plane or train! So happy I made this purchase. I will wear this jacket for many seasons to come.

I purchased this coat for a trip to Iceland. I normally like a large , but I knew I would be wearing layers, so purchased the X-Large, which was perfect. The weather was not ideal, but the coat was. The weather was rainy and cold, but I was dry and warm. The coat was incredibly soft and light. Yes, it is pricey, but in inclement weather it is worth it.

This jacket fits perfect, I love the underarm zipper that makes a difference. I can wear it with sweaters, the jacket itself is slightly fitting and looks very nice.

This jacket is the perfect blend of warmth and weather protection-absolutely waterproof and without bulk. My favorite PNW winter coat-just ordered a second one to travel with. The teal color is beautiful!

I am planning a trip to Ireland/Scotland this Fall and have been searching for a waterproof, warm jacket that is not too heavy and travels easily. This jacket is it. The length is great and the style is somewhat A-line, so it is very flattering for those of us whose hips are the widest part of us. The blue color is very pleasing. The cuffs are comfortable, and the zippered pockets are very roomy. The fabric is soft to the touch. TWO SUGGESTIONS TO LL BEAN: Use a two-way zipper in front (although for me, the one-way zipper was not a deal-breaker). Most important, skip the "pit zips" which add unnecessary bulk under the arms. If I get hot, I'll unzip the front! (Although this is the one feature that gave me pause because it adds bulk and "stiffness" under the arms, it does not significantly affect the overall comfort of the jacket.) The Medium works well for me, leaving room for a sweater or light fleece underneath. All in all, this is the best jacket I have seen for cool (not frigid) temps.

I bought this jacket for a summer trip to Iceland where temps were generally in the 50's but could be cooler depending on the excursion. I wore it in town when it was raining, under/around multiple waterfalls, and hiking on a melting glacier - I stayed completely dry and warm. Water literally beads up on the smooth surface and dries quickly once you're away from the water. It's lightweight and easy to pack or wear tied around your waist if need be. I also loved the fit of this jacket. I'm a pear shape that's small on top with larger hips and bottom, and the slight A-line of the jacket was very flattering, especially for a sporty coat like this. There are even zipped side vents for a little extra room around the bum. Other great details include vents under arm for air flow, super soft material at the wrist with adjustable Velcro closure to keep water out, and a fitted adjustable hood with slight visor. I did a lot of research and bought a lot of gear for my trip, and this is by far my favorite piece. It's also understated enough for me to wear on cold rainy days when I'm commuting in NYC, and I look forward to wearing it again!

I purchased this for a trip to Ireland last November and it's warm and waterproof. My husband, son and I wore ours almost every day. It's our go-to coat when the weather is cold at home too. (I live in the south, in the foothills of the mountains, but it's still surprising to me how many times I wore this last year). We're heading to Alaska in early Sept and this was the first item I've pulled out as I start to plan what clothes I'll take. It fits in the bag tightly and fits in my day pack great.

Going on an tour in September and wanted a lightweight, yet warm raincoat, and this certainly fits the need, aside from the fact that it is also packable. Love the color!!

I think this is one of the best jackets I've ever owned. They have thought of everything in the details and it is warm, cozy, fits great, and I love the blue color. I really appreciate being able to get a petite size that fits a curvy woman's body. Bought it for a trip to the UK in the spring and it performed beautifully, especially when I was caught in a rainstorm without an umbrella. Definitely waterproof. Excellent quality! Will be coming back to L.L. Bean for more items in the future.

I purchased this coat hoping it would work for a trip we are taking next March to see the Northern Lights. I was able to fit 4 layers under this coat: long sleeved Merina wool layer, slightly larger 33 below layer, an LLBean Fleece zip up vest, and an LLBean fleece zip up jacket. I can fit a wool hat under the hood, too. I love the warm. soft cuffs sewn into the coat and the velcro straps to tighten the sleeves. I also love that it is a longer length. The pockets are great as well. I hope it lives up to the warmth and waterproof ratings. It is light enough to fit easily in my suitcase.

Very comfortable. I bought this for a trip to Scotland, and it was great choice. I was apprehensive because of the cost, but the quality of the product is worth it.

This was such a good investment that I decided I wanted another color. I originally purchased the Black and now I have the Dark Cinder. I took this jacket on a trip to Europe in the late Fall. I can tell you it was a great decision. It is extremely lightweight, very warm, and I am able to wear a sweater underneath. The only thing I did not love are the two zippers on the bottom of the back. I think they are useless. (Obviously this was not a deal breaker for me) Maybe LLBean should just put a two way zipper on the front....

I LOVE this jacket. I ordered the petite small, and it fits perfectlyenough room to move and wear a layer underneath without feeling baggy. The various features of the jacket also allow you to customize the fit around the waist and/or hips. The fabric around the cuffs and the neck is super soft. The length is just right overall and on the sleeves. I can't say enough good things about this jacket. I would love to purchase another one in the future!

My husband and I each purchased one of these coats for a trip to Scotland. We needed something light enough to pack, but warm. This coat worked so well that it will be our travel coat in the future. It is waterproof, soft and comfortable and doesn't take up a lot of room. Light enough for days in the 50s or 60s, but warm enough for the 30s. Great wind breaker. Love the length and the snaps in the back to allow room to sit down (Men's doesn't have this feature). We didn't roll it up into it's pocket like the video as several people said it made it wrinkle, but just folded it with our other clothes. And it fit in the outside pocket of our luggage. There is a small brim on the hoods that helps keep the hood from falling over your eyes. It worked well on Orkney Island in 50 MPH winds and 40 degrees.
