I bought this jacket 3 years ago. The new style is slightly longer but it is so comfortable and I love the way it layers over everything! I had to buy another one because the first jacket I bought is almost worn out and it is my favorite coat. I also love that it compacts down into a small travel size to put in a backpack. Most comfortable coat I have ever had - love it! Thanks!

I purchased this coat for a late August cruise to Alaska. I needed something easy to pack and comfortable enough to wear under a waterproof outer jacket. It was perfect! The temperatures were in the 40's and 50's and I was always warm I wasn't sure if I needed to get the one with the hood and I'm glad I did. The hood was warm so I didn't need a hat. As we toured I congratulated myself several times for choosing this coat!

Was perfect for a spring trip to Europe. Lots of walking, cooler temps, and drizzly weather made this jacket the only one I needed. A bit fitted, but it looks really nice on and has a vibrant color.

I have been wearing an oversized men's jacket given to me as a hand-me-down for years. I finally decided I deserved a jacket of my own that would fit, flatter, and be warm without three hoodies underneath. Wow is all I can say! I'm so pleased with the fit, look, and quality. No wonky zippers anymore! I will say that I bought it large enough for a medium layer underneath, as winters here are frequently -20. If you are my height and build and want this as a more fitted single layer, you may be better served by a petite medium.

A perfect companion for my trip to the Bay area. Takes up practically no space in the suitcase. Cool morning mists could not penetrate. Ideal for plane ride home, too. I expect this jacket will get a lot of fall use back home in NYS.

An excellent light weight jacket. Fit is great and I am so happy it comes in petite! I usually wear it on its own, but it would also work well as a layer under a shell of some sort. Excellent quality that I expect from L.L. Bean. The blue color is very pretty.

I have an LL Bean winter coat with hood; and LL Bean winter jacket, but without hood. So when there was a 25% sale, I decided I wanted this jacket. The old tucked into the collar is a great feature: a hood when you want it, and hood tucked into collar when you don't need hood. Elastic at wrists. Several zipper pockets (for your hands and your gear). This dark blue/light blue combination is so attractive. The jacket is warm, but not bulky. Folds up and packs up so easily. I love it.

I needed a lightweight jacket for travel and this is so perfect. Warm enough that I don't have to pack a polar fleece to go under it, even though it will be chilly where we are going. Kelp is a great color and the size is totally accurate. I bought two different sizes because the reviews were confusing, but my usual petite small fits like a dream. Looking forward to wearing it in Ireland!

I love this as a late winter/spring jacket. I knew this ran large, so I was happy to see it offered in xxs, even though I usually order in xs. The xxs is perfect for me. I find it extremely comfortable. I love the zippered pockets, and bought it because of the extra pockets. I have been wearing this exclusively all spring. Kept me dry in the many rain showers as well.

Great jacket! Lightweight but warm. The fit could be just slightly more fitted to add to the "style" and it would be perfect. Overall, everything I was looking for in a three-season, pack-away jacket. I expect to get a lot of use from it.

Pretty color. I also bought it for the hood and water resistance. First time I wore it was in the rain. So far, so good. Packs well in pack.

I already had one of these jackets. My friend wanted one, too, so I ordered the color and size that she specified. She is thrilled with it (We were in cold GA along the Atlantic for the winter), but I think that she should have had a medium, as it is big around her shoulders. As usual, the quality is wonderful. I will have to order another one for myself in another year, as this is a 3 season-go-to jacket that the dogs are ruining by jumping on my right pocket where I carry the treats!

Love this jacket. Lightweight, but incredibly warm. Fits perfectly, packs away neatly in its own pocket. Buy it - you won't regret it.

This is a great light weight jacket for cool spring weather. I'm taking it on an Alaskan cruise in May and plan to wear my L.L. Bean sweater jacket underneath if needed. Especially like the hood. Very packable--folds into its own pouch. It would be great if the zipper unzipped in both directions for ease when sitting. Pleased with this purchase so far!

I love that this jacket is so light. I can fit a fleece underneath without it being too snug but it fits well on its own. I love that I can throw it into the washer and dryer and I love the color. It keeps the chill off and if I get warm I just tie it around my waist. It's perfect for layering and volatile temperatures - the material and hood really keeps the wind out. It doesn't keep me as warm as the specs indicate (I run cold) but it is a great outer layer for winter and great on its own for fall/spring.

I also have this jacket in an extra large which I bought when I weighed 150 pounds and which fit perfectly then. I bought this jacket after I lost weight. It fits perfectly with the matching vest underneath on very cold days with the hood up to cover my ears while I am walking my dog. The fabric holds the heat in very nicely during my walks in the cold and rain. It drys quickly and the hood keeps my head dry and the rain off my glasses. I just wish the matching vests had hoods for wearing in the summer when it is too warm to wear the jacket and it is raining.

My wife bought one of these 2-3 years ago, and she wanted one of the newer colors, but with a hood this time. She had a chance to wear the newer version recently at a tournament with 20 mph winds in 45 degree weather. Needless to say the weather felt cold. But she couldn't stop commenting how great this newer version was and how she didn't feel any wind or drafts in the jacket. So, the newer jacket seems to retain body heat much better. Although pricier than a few years ago it's still an excellent lightweight jacket.

I went into an llbean store yesterday looking for a spring/fall jacket for New England. I asked for a lightweight fitted jacket. (All stores should carry one or two fitted styles for our portion of the population ;) I was shown this style and the length and fit was perfect and the color fantastic. (dont know the name, but it was the pretty blue in the store) Folks with a smaller waist and full hips need a slimming jacket that covers the tush. (the drawstring style jackets actually pronounce the rearend for us). Thank you llbean for carrying this cut of jacket among your large selection of other cuts. **Just a light note to llbean customers and product reviewers. As a business owner myself, the review opportunity is to let people know about the quality and styling. Personal preferences are welcome so the store can learn what its customers like. However, if the product did not suit your tastes once you saw it in person, but is a potential great product for someone else, please leave a 4 star review. If it didn't fit you or not your best color is not a great reason to leave a low review if it's a good product. Thank you for your thoughtfulness in reading my feedback.

I had a very warm and heavy jacket from another manufacturer that had a troublesome zipper. It was difficult to engage and then had a tendency to catch fabric in it as you tried to zipper it. It had me exasperated so I started to search for a replacement. After looking at catalogs and reading reviews I ordered the PermaLoft jacket from LLBean. I ordered a Petite Large even though I am 5 feet and weigh 128 lb. I like to have a comfortable fit at the hips and this size is perfect. I absolutely love the jacket. It is light in weight and very warm with the proper layering. The pockets inside the jacket and at chest height allow me stow my phone, glasses and wallet.....and I can leave my purse at home. The jacket folds up into the large inside pocket and you can easily carry it along with you when you travel. l I also love the color of blue that I purchased.
