I like this coat a lot, but it's really not very warm. I went for a brisk walk at sundown in 35 degree weather with a warm base layer and heavy duty flannel and I was quite cold. Can't imagine how uncomfortable I would have been if it was windy. I got this with a gift card, but if I paid out of pocket I would return because for this much money it should be really warm. I am quite disappointed and don't understand the glowing reviews. Its saving grace is that it fits well and looks nice and is comfortable to wear. I also like that it's lightweight, but it simply fails as a true winter coat.

I wear a medium in everything. This medium was very baggy, fit like a large and then some. Also the yellow color was not as pictured- was a very dull yellow not bright and vibrant as I'd hoped. Had to return.

Good fit, comfortable in 40ish degree weather, great zippers. It is not super durable. After a week of non-outdoor use, I already have some Tenacious Tape patches. The design seems to prioritize packability over durability. Also, it has no inside lining, something I really appreciated from older models. Again, packability prioritized.

I'm a true llbean customer. On avg I order 3-4 items a year for the last 6 or so years. This is the first item I'm returning. At this price point, I thought the volume of down was pretty disappointing and not as warm as I desired. Only after of receiving the jacket and seeing how little down there was, did I realize that the 850 rating has nothing to do with quantity of material, but just how compressible it is. It'd be nice if llbean advertised a fill weight because that is what really matters for warmth.

I purchased this down sweater as an inner light weight coat beneath a heavier LL Bean outer down jacket. The combination worked great for two years and then the down sweater zipper started to come apart all of the time. I tried to contact LL Bean about this issue but never got a response from customer service. Were it not for the zipper I would have rated this sweater very well. The combination really does keep you warm in concert with an LL Bean heavier outer jacket and I would highly recommend using them both in that combination for either cold weather or cold, rainy, windy weather.

I'm not very happy I order this jacket because the size wasn't in the store . He wore it and noticed the stitching is coming apart. So now I need a return label and reorder. I'm not happy it's a 225.00 jacket.

I was hoping after spending $250 on an LL Bean down jacket that I could use layers to stay warm this winter. Somewhat disappointed with the sizing and down filling at this price point. No room to layer with the XXL. Kept the jacket anyway because I liked the color, style and it would be perfect for late fall/early spring. This is not a winter jacket. Save yourself the frustration and buy a down jacket from Big Agnes. Big Agnes is far superior in sizing, fill and quality.

IK spoke with a rep before I purchased this item and he said he had used the jacket in zero degrees weather, and it is warm. I wore to a restaurant and the air condition was running and I was cold. When I left the restaurant I went outside, and it was 49 degrees, and I was cold. I put my hands in the pockets and they were not warm at all. The jacket is verry thin and it is supposed to contain goose down and I am wondering if they even put any down in the jacket. For $220 this jacket should be very warm. I sent back for a refund. Disappointed.

One of the slimmest fitting down pieces I've ever purchased. It made my Arcteryx feel loose. I couldn't even zip it up and the saffron color was dreadful. Sadly disappointed - the only bum purchase I ever made at LLBean.
