Thin and not warm. I returned the item. Don't waste your time.

Coat is light, warm. As said before, the hood is"held" on with totally inadequate snaps. I reached up to pull the hood on and 3 of the undersized snaps came undone.

A tent - not all tall people are obese, so loose around a 36" waist

Fabric not very tear resistant
Jacket is quite warm, fits well and I like the color, Dark Barley. The outer fabric is not very tear resistant. My jacket is two-months old and has a tear. It must have been a minor snag, as I don't remember how it happened. My twenty-year-old down jacket has no tears. Not what I expected from LL Bean. I suggest a jacket with a more sturdy fabric shell.

Listen the jacket will keep you warm. That's the positive. Its not that good looking if you want style - this is a simple stye and dull colors.
And for the life of me I can't figure out why LL BEAN skimped on the hood area and not attach use a zipper? The 3 hood snaps are cheap plastic. And will unsnap quite quickly. So, like me, if you live in an urban area and carry a cross over bag as soon as your bag strap rubs against the hood it snaps off.
Again it keeps you warm. So if thats all you care about so be it.

I have an xl torso and shoulders, and im not a thin person, but this jacket must be cut for someone that has an enormous stomach. Wish it fit, the material and construction looked good.

Zipper jams every time I use it. The parka is made of a very thin shell material that is very close to the zipper clasp. The clasp rides up on the material and gets stuck almost every time i go to use the zipper.

So this is the second Mens Classic Down Parka I purchased for my son. First one was about 10 years ago and if it wasnt for the fact that its a bit too snug for him I would not have purchased this new one. This parka is warm, comfortable, and obviously made to last.

A size small typically fits me well in LL Bean, although sometimes they run on the larger size compared to other brands. This parka fits ridiculously big, the sleeves extend a good 3-4 inches beyond my finger tips, and the length is comical. For reference, I also purchased the Bean's Down Hooded Jacket in a small, and that fits perfectly, maybe even a bit small. I wish LL Bean could get their sizing more homogenized. I would size down if I could, but small is the smallest size offered. I'm sure this parka is very warm, but it just looks way too silly for me to justify keeping.

I purchased a Mountain Classic men's parka a few years ago when LLB offered bright colors, a fleece-lined collar, patch pockets along with hand-warmer pockets, and a very manageable hood. It is nearly perfect and has held up well with very heavy use for dog-walking in the winter and yard work on very cold and damp days, although it is too warm for shoveling snow! The bright color was great for walking on dark days. But it is showing its age and it is time to retire it. However, the newer version is awful in comparison: gone are all the features mentioned above. I was so disappointed that I returned it.

I have a number of LL Bean coats and sweatshirts sized Large/Tall that fit me well but unfortunately I had to send this coat back. It's just a bit too small in the chest and body, even with a light shirt on underneath. The material was nice but I also wondered if it will stand up and last, it seemed a bit fragile. I considered buying the next size up but thought it might be too large. This coat would be better for a more slender person (maybe 175 lbs, same height.)

I really wanted to like this jacket. In fact I loved almost everything about it. It's warm, the fit good, and it was nice looking. But, the killer was the zipper. I should have listened to the other reviews because they were right. You will probably have a difficult time zipping the jacket all the way up, and if you do, it's almost impossible to unzip. The zipper works fine up to the neck, but if it's cold and windy and you want the hood up, you will definitely want to zip it all the way. Too bad this does not work. I returned the jacket.

The parka fits fine. The main complaint I have is that one of the snaps on the front right pulled out of the parka. The hole it left is leaking down out of the coat. The snap base on the main parka body looks to be mounted in a single layer of material. There should be backing fabric as these get a fair amount of stress when unsnapping them. I would also like an exterior lapel pocket to accommodate my phone. The parka looks good and is reasonably warm without being overly bulky. However, I am planning on returning the parka for a refund.

I took a walk in 14 degree weather. Barely stayed warm and the sleeves were cold.
I can't imagine ice fishing in this coat in 20 degree weather without a heavy vest under it.

Nice looking parka but not as warm as expected. It's rated +10 to -40 degrees, but I was still cold in it walking my dog at +44 degrees. I was hoping for not sweaty warm, but at least toasty warm. Plus I'm not crazy about the double zipper arrangement on such a long jacket: you have to become hunchback to do or undo the zipper. I'm debating as to what to do with it. An LLBean vest that I bought several years ago was the best I ever had, so I have a great respect for LLBean and still do.

#1 The cords to snug the hood around the face are a poor design: hard to use yet obtrusive in the face after being snugged.
#2 The zipper keeps snagging at the top, close to the neck. It leaves an opening for a 3 or 4 inch draft. The little video in the ad makes excuses for the bottom snags, but there is this problem at the top, too.
I wish I had examined the coat more closely before disposing of the box and tags. I guess I can live with it otherwise, but I made the mistake of trusting the company on the fundamentals of closures.

I wanted to love this coat SO much. It felt so warm and so well constructed. However, the fit was SUPER tight across my chest, and I'm definitely NOT a broad-chested or broad-shouldered guy. I'm very skinny. To help, I returned and ordered up to a Large, but the issue was the same. SUPER tight across my chest/shoulders/upper arm area, and then I was just swimming in a large around my waist. So, I've returned it a second time. I'm so disappointed.

Poor fit, larger than expected. The fit was also odd and sort of a bell shape. The material was also thin and looks like it would tear or wear easily.

The coat that came was too small. I filled out the proper paperwork to exchange it for the next size up. And they just return my money and they were told me till the very end that they weren't sending another one. Needed the coat down my money.

I hate this jacket.
- the bottom zipper jams constantly. it gets both caught in material and gets jammed at the very bottom. This is my biggest complaint. It's bad enough I'll be getting a different jacket next winter.
- The collar is too short, neck is exposed
- it's too tight to zip up all the way
- the main pockets are too shallow. Your wrists will stick out. And if gloves stored in pocket they easily fall out
- the interior chest pocket is small. iPhone 16 Pro fit but barely
- the buttons are too hard to attach, need two hands to use them

I bought this because it is longer than my north side of everest down jacket and would keep my butt warm when sitting on a cold bench waiting for a bus. Yes it is longer but compared to the north side of everest it has practically no loft. The north side of everest sleeve has over 2 inches of loft combined measured with a vernier caliper and the this jacket has 1 inche. One could never call this a puffy jacket. It just doesn't look puffy. With down loft is warmth. The only warmth this provide is the thin synthetic fabric shell. This is not a quality product. A cheap disposable fashion brand would be embarassed to sell it. This is claimed to be for cold weather. Really? Maybe cold weather in Hawaii. It deserves .01 star.

The zipper lasted 73 days. I have coats that are over 20 years old and the zippers are still perfect. Is this what you get for $200 now?

Did not fit as expected. Although I went by the sizing Chart and and L.L. Bean Jacket that I own, the XL Tall was to small (didn't fit me in the shoulders) and the XXL Tall was to big (fit me in the shoulders but was much to large from the chest down). Not sure why the XL Tall did not fit me like the XL Tall Jacket I have from L.L. Bean but I was very disappointed.

I really wish I could write a 5 star review, but after months of use and aggravation I am writing this one.
First, the zipper is always catching the lining and getting stuck. It takes 5-10 minutes of fighting with it to get it unstuck. This happens frequently unless I am extremely careful and zip up very, very slowly. I am sure it will eventually tear the lining.
Second, the cheap plastic snaps for the hood do not stay snapped! I have lost the hood twice now when it was caught in a strong wind. The ends that have the Velcro stay put but the other 3 do not. I let me son use the coat to run to his car and with his huge mop of hair the hood came loose at those 3 snaps and let the cold air get to your neck. I am sure if they had used metal snaps there wouldn't be an issue.
Third, one of the inner pocket zippers has already failed, there are two teeth missing so that one is no longer useable. Again, cheap plastic parts.
The jacket is warm, it feels great at 40 as well as 10. It is light and comfortable and dries fast when you get caught in the rain or snow. Without the problems I would give it 5 stars.
