I gave it three stars because the two way zipper does not work smoothly, however, it is very warm.

It's basically a shell with a little extra fluff inside. It's a nice looking coat, fits well, but I thought I was ordering something warm. I already have a lightweight coat. I run cold so need some extra insulation for winter morning walks / hikes and this won't cut it. This coat would be good from about 30 to 45 degrees, not teens and 20s. When I hear "parka" I think winter protection but this isn't that. It's not bad, it's just not a serious cold weather coat.

Nice looking coat, but definitely runs small in chest area. Bought 2, one for son and one for his dad. Both always take a XL. Not this time....have to return both.....very disappointed especially since neither person is overweight.....one is skinny.

Everything was good except it is too difficult for me to put on. The lining sticks to my body when it needs to slide over my back.
Looks good, and is warm, however it could be larger in the waist

Bought this for my husband, didn't fit too well, don't know what it was but it was nit a comfortable look. We returned it, but also took long time to get refunded.
Not like old LLBean.

I love Bean products, but for a tall, thin, elderly woman, it is not at all warm enough. I was barely warm wearing 2 base layers at 41 F. I think the cold ratings on such items could carry a caveat.

I like the look of this parka, but it simply didn't feel tough enough for what I needed it for. While warm, the shell does not seem like it would stand up to much. I returned it and bought the utility parka.

This jacket would be perfect if it pocket design was different. My recommendation would be cargo pockets with flaps or zippers instead of snaps. I did lose my Ray Bans because of the pockets!

I bought this parka about two years ago and thought it was warm and well designed. It is certainly has a traditional LL Bean fit (thank goodness). HOWEVER, when I ffirst needed to use the hood, it was impossible for me to zip the parka all the way to the top in order to block the wind from my face. I returned it. I just checked out the parka today at LL Bean and was disappointed to discover they have made no design changes to the hood. If you buy one, make sure you check the parka to see if you can zip it all the way up.

I bought this parka to add a bit of variety to my winter (2019) closet and you get your money's worth... it adequate to wear with a t-shirt or a sweater when it was in the mid to high 30s, but I was left cold (with a wool sweater, shirt, insulated gloves and a scarf) when it hit low 10s - mid 00s on a windy Toronto winter day. The plastic hoodie buttons would sometimes rip if the wind was too intense. As someone with a slim build, an S fits just right in both length and width and it looks quite nice when worn open. Although I will keep it, it will only see the light of day during fall.

I have owned 6-7 of your winter jackets over the past 20-25 years. This one feels cheap. outside pockets have a snap instead of a zipper. There is no inside pocket and it is not as warm as advertised. Had I not worn it 3 times I would return it!

Pros:
The fit is great for athletic body types. I got a medium
The two way zipper is great.
Warm and lightweight.
Cons:
The hood is attached with velcro at each end. But, there is no zipper and just 3 buttons - cheap, plastic ones that are not sufficient. Wind blows up the back of the hood onto your neck. Any tugs on the hood result in the hood detaching from the cheap plastic buttons. Why no zipper or at least metal buttons, LLBean? Did it really save you that much in production costs?
There could be more interior pockets.
There is no cinch around the mid-waist or belt line.
The top of the zipper lacks a good garage and neck/beard hairs can get caught and the overall high stiffness jabs at the bottom of the neck.
If I didn't need this jacket and didn't get it on sale, I would surely return it. The hood design is really bad and it is a dealbreaker under any other circumstances. I cannot believe it got through any QA testing.

I had a basic LL Bean down parka for years. I loved it. The nylon outer shell has taken quite a beating over the years and I thought it was time to replace it. I bought this coat to replace it and found the cut to be too skinny. Sleeves were a good length but body was too tight to wear a sweater like my old coat. I'm sure the sleeves on a 2XL would be way too long. Just not a good cut for me. Disappointing.

I felt the weight, length, fit were all great, but the outermost material on the jacket felt of low quality. I was looking for something more durable and didn't feel this could handle much. I rarely say that of Bean products, but I did end up returning it.

I like the length. Arms were a little tight, and I'm not buffed! Not a jacket to wear layers with.
The hood is very warm but the snaps are horrible. I almost retuned the jacket due to the type and quality of the snaps. Hood comes off with little effort.

My husband has worn this coat several times and the hood is too big and will not stay snapped down
onto the back of the coat as designed. It even gets into his eyes. It is so annoying, we will be returning it. Maybe it is just faulty snaps. It is warm and very attractive but if you get a coat for coal weather , you need a hood.

this coat is a good value and has provided me with what i wanted, warmth.
could use an extra internal pocket and an exterior breast pocket. the included interior pocket fits a cell phone but hardly has room to carry a letter the post office.

The jacket is ok, very classic style(never out of style), good quality (material), lightweight, but it is not as warm as what it described (underneath with jeans, sweater, and undershirt). It is good enough for between 35 to 40 degree and above, if lower than that, you better wear a thermal layer underneath.

Purchased for my son to bring back to college for second semester. This parka is replacing a TNF jacket that was no match for the upper Midwest wind. First day back, he texted me how much he loved the parka and that it was so warm! I was delighted. Second day back, he texted the attached picture saying it was already snagged and that down was coming out. He is so bummed. He has no idea what happened. The parka has only been worn for two days, during which it's been hanging up in his room, worn walking to class, or draped over the back of a chair in a lecture or dining hall. I've recycled the box and packing bag/slip so I'm not sure what my options are now. He's also hours away at school. If we send it back, he is without a winter coat until a replacement arrives. Alternatively, I have to buy a whole new parka so he isn't without a coat in the interim. I'm usually incredibly pleased with LL Bean quality but this time I'm disappointed.

Yes, I'm a little older, wider and heavier. I purchased a 2XL and it fit pretty good until it got down to my hips. It is a challenge to get the zipper started but it does zip all the way up, but if I put on snow pants or lined jeans it would be a no go. It is tight enough that over time I think outdoor work will probably tear out the bottom of the zipper. If you're like me, more of a pear shape, I'd suggest going a size up, but then the top part would be way too big. If the bottom was 3-4 inches wider and the top part stayed the same, well, perhaps, do they make a 2XL wide hip size? I won't be wearing this one much and it will likely make it to the jacket donation collection next fall.

I just got this coat, but I need to return it because the pockets don't work for my needs. I really need a pocket on both sides of the interior, and I need larger pockets overall. None of the pockets are large enough to hold a glove, which I feel should be the minimum for a winter coat. Otherwise, it Is warm. There is also too much Velcro in the hood attachment (easily removed). The snaps could be color coordinated. Nice length in torso, covers a lot.

Disappointed, no inside pockets and outside pockets not deep enough to contain objects.

Nice coat but. You rate this coat "warmest." it's 26 degrees with a light breeze that I can feel through the coat. I was wearing a fleece sweater under it. It could easily be 40 degrees colder right now at my house and I wanted a winter parka suitable for that weather. This coat isn't even close.

Double zipper hard to use and sticks at various parts of the zipper. I even watched their YouTube video to try to learn how to use it better. But it is still not a smooth operating zipper and gets stuck almost every other time I put the coat on. It it does not improve with some use, I will be taking it back.
