Look to be pretty well made, is very thin, don't know how warm it is, as it is way to small through the shoulders! Every jacket or coat the I have is a XXL, and they all fit just fine, with this, if I reached over and tried to lift anything, I would rip the jacket down the back! Hope it works for you, but it doesn't work for me!

After the great experience I have had with my Bean Ultralight 850 Down Jacket (Size XL) I thought I would try the PrimaLoft Packaway Jacket. The first thing I noticed is the jacket felt 'empty' as of they had forgotten to add the Primaloft. And as expected when I put this jacket on it became quickly apparent that this jacket is not warm enough for somebody my age. This jacket is also an XL but it felt tight and binding. Not very warm, a poor fit, and looks cheap. A real disappointment.

I have many jackets in all types of materials and insulation. I wanted an affordable, packable, warm, and nice fitting jacket. I purchased the Extra Large LONG. This jacket is fairly expensive but less so than other well known companies. The jacket is packable but I am not sure how long the insulation will continue to perform effectively over time as the jacket is repeatedly packed and stowed. Time will tell as they say. The exterior is light weight polyester and tears easily, so don't wear this in the woods where snags may occur. Mine is already torn. 1002 uses for duct tape! The jacket is somewhat tight in the shoulders and the sleeves ride up on my arms. The length is ok but I could use another 4 cm. I could not bump up a size because the chest area would be too large and the insulation would not be close enough to my body to perform properly. Not sure what to advise you to do in that case. The jacket is very light weight and is not for very cold weather but is ok as an autumn or early spring jacket in my opinion. I have worn it under fleece and that works but it does get moist and clammy if you start to perspire. I like the four pockets with good zippers so far. I also like the fact that the jacket was manufactured using recycled materials. That is really about it. I foresee this jacket to be worn out in short order so for that reason and the reasons listed above I do not recommend this jacket. Thank you.

I have purchased this jacket from L.L.Bean several times before and was quite happy. I can't wear the new jacket I just got because (first) the size it is too thin for me. That is saying a lot because I am "the skinniest person in the world" and have a very difficult time buying clothes because "everything" is constructed for much wider people. I measured my old jacket against the new one and found out that the new version is a full inch shorter around the waste (compared to the older version). This means it barely fits and I cannot put a layer underneath it. While it is difficult to measure this, it seems that the new jacket is thinner than the old one. The older jacket is clearly warmer than the new one. Please bring back the old version! It was great. I gave this jacket to a family member who needed one.

I love the color and the fit of this jacket, but unfortunately, it just doesn't seem to provide much warmth. I tried it out yesterday on a short walk in 42 degree weather with no wind and I was a little chilly. If it can't keep me warm in 42 degrees, what use is it? My unlined Gore-Tex rain jacket keeps me at least as warm as this jacket. I've been back and for trying to decide whether to keep it, because I like the color and fit so much, or return it because it doesn't keep me warm. Alas, I will be returning it. For me, function always wins over appearance. The only use I could envision for it would be to wear it under my rain jacket, but I already have sweatshirts, fleece and sweaters that can serve that purpose.

Fit was good, large tall. NOT suitable as an outer coat under 40 degrees. Okay as a mid layer, not bulky so wear it under a coat. Has a one way zipper, a two way zipper would be better if you ever got warm. I would not recommend it as a coat.

I bought this jacket as a Christmas gift for my son. When it arrived, it was much thinner than expected, and had very little puffiness to it. It was too late to return, so I gave it to him anyway. I also paid $199 for the jacket, now you are showing it as $179 original price. Very disappointed but it did fit and he acted pleased. Was I overcharged for the jacket?

Size way too small as compared to other LL Bean Big & Tall products. Would need to go up 2-3 sizes for a comparable fit.

Brought this jacket for couple months; unlike all my previous llbean purchases, the recent quality of the threads from jackets to polo shirt are extremely easy to "pop" out. A better quality thread would improve this a long way

Not a quality garment. The zippers are cheap, the sleeves are short for the size, and when you sit, it is tight. The cuffs are also uncomfortable. Not particularly warm. Returned for the 850.

The size was completely wrong. I bought a similar jacket (XLT) several years ago from LLBean in a size smaller. Thanks to Covid I had to order a larger size (XXLT). This jacket is an actually smaller than my older smaller size! Shrinkflation is real! Happily LLBean's return policy is excellent and I had a refund within days.

I ordered XXLT jacket and got one that has shorter arms than an older XLT I bought a few years ago. I like to wear the jacket as an outer layer, but they have shrunk it to the point I can't even wear it.

This jacket is too thin to be warm at all, minimal improvement in warmth as a base layer. No matter how high tech the space age material is, if it has no loft it's not going to be warm. If packability is the only thing you are worried about, and space saving is an absolute necessity then it might be worth it, otherwise there are better choices. I returned it and went with the Mountain Classic Puffer for 80.00 less and it's much warmer, especially as an additional layer under my coat.

As a loyal customer of LL Bean for 35 years, I've grown accustomed to sweaters that last 20+ years, coats 30....Sadly, I bought this for my husband and after 18 months of light wear the zipper began acting up and this year has just finally refused to zip without splitting. With the new return policy, I have no recourse and my husband is saying (for the first time ever) "I think I'll replace it with a [...competitor's...] jacket instead."

Love the Packaway and LL Bean however the new cut-non Raglan made coat tight in my chest. I wear XL Tall. I am 6'4"-230lbs. 48 chest and with new pocket design and cut along shoulders pulled across chest.. if I went to XXL too baggy

This jacket feels like 2 silky trash bags have been sewn together. The claim is that the jacket contains 60 gram of primoloft. A US nickel is 5 grams, so the filling is similar to 12 nickels in weight. Not very much. Yesterday the temperature was 40F and I put the jacket on, and walked to my mailbox. I was cold and returned the jacket yesterday. It would make a nice wind breaker - but how it got the "warm" jacket rating is beyong my comprehension. Its expensive and overly priced. I noted that others said the material rips easily. I am really glad I returned this jacket.

Jacket tore in multiple locations within first week of use. Nice looking jacket but exterior material can not hold up to regular wear and tear.

I bought this jacket for my son in Fall of 2020. Because of Covid, he barely left the house that season and had virtual school. This year, he started wearing it regularly including on his short walk to school each day during which he wore it with his backpack. The primaloft filling started coming out of the seams on his back, but I didn't do anything about it until it got really bad and there is almost no fill left in that part of the jacket. I took it to the LL Bean store and I was told that this is happening because he is wearing it with a backpack. Shouldn't an LL Bean jacket be able to withstand use with a backpack on for a short walk to school???? I was then told that it is beyond the warranty period anyway. So disappointed in LL Bean and this jacket.

I can only state that the coat I received was 2 sizes smaller than labeled. I could not close it. Total fail on inventory and quality control. Waste of my time. I returned the item and received a refund.

No warmth because no insulation. Just two pieces of cloth. It's all looks, no warmth. So I returned it.

Slim fit not for a guy my size. Wish they made more Traditional fitting outerwear. LL B is blind to the fact that as many long time customers age out, they get a little bigger around the mid section, or maybe they just don't care. Am forced to look elsewhere for more traditional fitting outerwear.

I bought this jacket four years ago. I've worn it for four years and it's never failed me. Even in conditions that felt too cold for a lighter jacket, the old version kept me very warm. The new version I just received I have worn once in 32 degree dry weather with a hooded sweatshirt underneath and I was really cold. The new insulation is not as good and now cannot be used as my go to winter jacket in most conditions. It's sad because the older one met all my needs. I'm really not sure what this insulation is fit for but not what it's rated for on the website. I'm disappointed in LL Bean for the first time. It also isn't truly adequate for temps it's rated for. I had both the hooded and non hooded version of this jacket in the older version. My newer version was the hooded.
