I bought the jacket a couple weeks ago for winter and it's very very thin, and not very warm, not really a winter jacket but more fall or early spring jacket.

I thought the jacket was well made but it barely had more insulation than a windbreaker. Also I am an XL from all other makers but recently have had to buy a 2xl when buying outerwear from Beans. Returned the jacket for a refund.

It has the look of a warm down jacket but it's actually nothing more than a windbreaker.

I purchased this jacket thinking that it would be ideal for those days when you don't need a parka but a lighweight jacket just would not cut it. Honestly, I am baffled by this jacket. It is very light and compact but it does a poor job of keeping me warm. Wearing when it is 40 degrees out and windy was not a smart move. In addition, the cut and style of this jacket is quite unusual. It is rather tight in the chest and as other people have pointed out, the shoulders have a weird cut. There is just enough room to wear a lighweight sweater or vest but not much else. If I bought an XXL, then I would look like the Michelin man. I know that its primary feauture is that it contains PrimaLoft Gold insulation, whatever that is, but it I really wouldn't wear this when it is raining. I just don't trust it. I expect better from LL Bean and this jacket really is not of the quality that I have come to expect from LL Bean. For the first time in quite a long time, I am tempted to return this jacket because

Length if this jacket is good for a tall man, but it is tight in chest for someone skinny. Not a good fit. I returned this item. Receiving a refund for this return is challenging. We are at about two weeks after LL Bean received the item back and I am still waiting for return.

This is a wonderful jacket. However the collar is entirely too tall.. I understand the protection side but to its a 1/2" entirely too tall. Nevertheless a very comfortable & stylish jacket but please do something about the height of the collar.

Pricing, though reasonable, varied from internet to store with limited color selection in the store, and the quality and fit were not what I had come to expect from Bean. Less than substantial even for the price

Had to return it. Material was so fragile and tore within a month. But otherwise jacket was warm and lightweight. Just be careful where you wear it.

It's very light weight and requires an under layer to keep one warm enough for outdoor winter activity.

Very light jacket but it is cut very narrow in the shoulders and I had to send it back.

I'm so confused by the reviews on this. It's really flimsy and simply not warm. Went for a brisk walk in 40 degree weather with no wind and two layers and was not warm at all. It's a nice coat and fits me well but I don't see what you'd use this for. Definitely not worth the price.

It was so thin, I doubt there was any filling in it. Maybe it could have been a windbreaker, but totally useless for keeping me warm. I gave it two stars because it fit nicely and looked good. However there was very little room inside to add any layers.

I would have ordered extra large tall, but after reading the reviews I ordered XX Large Tall so I would have room for a sweater or fleece underneath. The jacket is so small I thought the wrong size was sent. Nope. Clearly marked XX Large Tall. Fits more like a Large, not even an extra large. Two stars because it was exactly what I wanted, light weight easy to slip on and off layer. Absolutely ridiculous sizing!! I've been buying from L L Bean for decades. I've had the LLBean credit card for many years. Sadly I've noticed what others have commented on in reviews, Bean quality is slipping. Quality and sizing are hit or miss. Please LL Bean, it's time to address these issues.

Being Old School and with a description like "Primo Loft" or whatever, I was very disappointed with this jacket. Seriously, this thing couldn't keep a Floridian warm on a 65* day. Think Ol'Bean has lost it. Maybe go back to real down that actually works for us true outdoorsman

the jacket is fairly warm and very light weight. BUT the material is disintegrating on the sleeves of the jacket. The jacket is 3 years old but I have never seen any material fall apart even after 10 years. So in my opinion the jacket is way over priced. To bad you can't depend on llbean products anymore.

Jacket came to my waist. I needed a longer, heavier coat. It did fit properly but not what I was looking for. I sent it back and was fully refunded. Thanks, William Murphy

I was really looking forward to this coat but I gotta say I was really let down. I was expecting it to be a very warm jacket, but it was not providing any warmth at all. I went for a 45 minute brisk walk in 35 degree (F) weather and was very uncomfortable the whole time. I had two layers on and almost felt like I needed another whole jacket over this one. And once the wind picked up I was downright freezing. Anyway, maybe this is more for if you are working up a sweat, but do not choose this coat for your everyday jacket in a cold winter.

First this looked like a nice quality well made jacket. I have been wearing llbean 2xlt hurricane shirts and flannel shirts for decades. Growing up in Vermont llbean was very popular. I have really liked their products. Recently I ordered this jacket in a size that is always perfect for me in llbean stuff. At 6'3" and 250lbs. This jacket didn't come close to fitting me. In fact it was a better fit on my 5'00" 125 lb wife than on me! I wish there was consistency in llbean sizing as in the past. Maybe I'm just getting old!

I really don't like writing negative reviews, but this jacket is simply not warm. Yes, it is featherlight, it fits me (which is often difficult for me with wide shoulders). I was thrilled that it fit. It feels great to wear. I didn't want to take it off. So why only two stars? I figure for that price it should provide some insulation, but frankly I've had flannel shirts that were much warmer. The temperature rating is way overstated. It's not even a sweater, it's feels more like a shirt. I wouldn't want to get anywhere near freezing temperatures in this jacket.

I purchased Medium size Primaloft but it turned out to be bigger than it was showing on the website. I exchanged it for a small and it was to tight. Overall, not impressed with the product.

I really wish the coat fit better. My broad shoulders require me to order a XXL coat even though my torso is more an XL. This coat has very narrow shoulders for an XXL. This narrower shoulder fit seems to be a trend lately in LL Bean sizing.

This jacket is advertised to be warm to 30 degrees. Definitely not the case. I have worn it for 6 weeks on warmer days where it's been above 35 and I have never felt warm. On the other hand I also have the 850 jacket and it has kept me warm on days down to 30 degrees. This is definitely a spring/fall jacket only.
