I am delighted with this jacket after almost being dissuaded from buying it by reviews suggesting it was too lightweight to be warm. That is not the case. It is light, compact and comfortable, but also remarkably warm and wind resistant. Maybe not enough for ice fishing or mountaineering, but I've worn it multiple times for hiking, with temperatures in the 20s and 30s, and have yet to need a second layer.

Our son in Washington State loves his new jacket. He's a professional -- wears it to work and also for casual wear. Says it's warm and light. Very, very happy with it...

Nice jacket a little on the light side but with a sweater or thick shirt surprisingly warm

It is warmer as advertised, packable and not bulky. I walk everyday even when temperature gets as low as 40's. It keeps me warm. You do need to layer clothing under the jacket. Love the brightness of color and pleased with it.

I am from the East Coast and have owned LL Bean Gear for a better part of my life since I was a teenager. Two things about Bean is their clothing and the packs! Bought this jacket for a layer under a ski parka jacket because of the quality and better fit; it's money!

This jacket is lightweight and comfortable. It is warm when it's cold and light weight enough for cool days. My wife has the women's version and loves it as well.

My packaway is more than five years old. By itself it is comfortable to the mid-forties. I wear this coat instead of sweaters as a base layer in cooler temperatures. No bulk and used as base layer it makes the outer coat that much warmer. I wear this parkaway as a base layer in single digit temperatures.

Light and thin while still incredibly warm. Thin enough to shove in a pack, warm enough for cold days.

Some of the negative reviewers apparently didn't understand what they were buying. This jacket will do okay as an everyday wear, provided you layer correctly. This jacket will not keep you warm on very cold days with little layering and no activity. Where this jacket excels is in an active wear capacity with adequate layering, and it is astoundingly good for that function. I took it hiking in the White Mountains recently, with temps of 20deg base/15deg summit. It kept me so warm that I sweated through the jacket through during ascent. Here's the thing, the jacket was wet, very wet, as were the layers underneath (obviously I overlayerd), but I still stayed warm. Had I gotten that damp in a down jacket, I would've had a problem. If you're looking for a great jacket to compliment your cold weather activities, this is your jacket.

This is an amazing jacket that is so light but so protective of the cold weather. It will be great for traveling as it is so thin, it will be easy to fold up and packed taking up very little space.

I spend most of my time in California and Arizona where, November through March, mornings can get chilly (with low temperatures in the 40s) but afternoon temperatures are usually in the 60s or higher. Having a very lightweight stowable jacket is ideal. This is my second purchase. It's a great jacket.

I bought this for my husband - he loves everything about it; the fit, the color, it's lightweight & comfortable feel, and it's wearability in weather.

I HAVE SEVERAL OF THESE JACKETS. THEY ARE LIGHTWEIGHT, WARM & HAVE 4 POCKETS FOR STUFF. FOR MOST OKLAHOMA WEATHER, 30-40 DEGREES THEY ARE AMPLE. LAST WINTER WE HAD RECORD COLD DOWN TO -12. I HAD A SIZE XL AND WORE IT OVER MY SIZE L (I LOST WEIGHT & BOUGHT SIZE L) THANK GOODNESS I DID NOT GIVE AWAY THE XL. IN EFFECT IT DOUBLED THE INSULATION BUT WAS STILL COMFY & LIGHTWEIGHT. NOT A STAND ALONE JACKET FOR EXTREME COLD, BUT DOUBLED UP THEY GOT ME THROUGH. PRETTY GOOD IN WIND & LIGHT RAIN TOO. SLIGHTLY FITTED SO IF YOU PLAN ON LAYERING, MIGHT CONSIDER SIZING UP
