I bought 2 of these a couple years ago. Great fabric durable and do not shrink. I wanted to like them but neck opening is huge too big even with top button engaged need to wear a tee-shirt under it so only 3 stars. I do not use for cooler/cold weather outdoors as expected. Good sleep wear while camping or at a cabin.

I bought 2 of these shirts for my husband recently because he loved the one I got him in 2022. However, the fabric is so much thinner than last year. Disappointed in that because the price didn't drop , but the quality did.

The fit was fine but the fabric looked puckered after the first washing. A closer look indicates the stitching probably led to this appearance.

This shirt is nice but feels 'too nice' so my husband doesn't wear it as a daily shirt, even though that's what I bought it for. He loves waffle henleys and this was recommended to me at the store as a comparison. The material is thick and a little rough but does have a different style. We kept it and my husband is starting to wear it more after I told him it's supposed to be a normal wear shirt.

First let me say that I love your river drivers shirt It's super warm and doesn't itch However I would love it more if it came in size XS or if you made it for women - which you once did. Come on LL Bean women like to be warm too

Was really jazzed when I seen the newer river driver shirts were made with merino wool. Had always loved the old ones and they lasted forever. Think they were originally made for bean by duofold. Found the new ones to be disappointing. Tails and sleeves were not as long and material was not nearly as soft against the skin. Newer is not always better. Glad I still have a couple of the old ones.

I've purchased over 70 LLB cotton Henley T's and was always pleased with with the quality, washability and long term appearance. This shirt had a puckered collar before and after washing as well as in the catalog picture. It doesn't launder well, shrinks a bit and guessing from the cotton wool layers becomes scratchy and wrinkled with flat drying. Very warm for under layering.

Collar makes my neck itch. Can't wear it with a collared shirt under.

Not very soft, but it is cozy. Got these fro my hubby because no one seems to make them thick enough. These are thick, but the inside is not soft at all. It's actually kind of rough, like slub cotton or linen texture. They are okay but the inner material needs to be softer. He's also not a big fan of the wrists - the band is too thick for his liking.

The fit of this shirt is tighter than LL Bean's waffle Henley's. It was too tight for my husband, and I had to return it.

I've bought at least a dozen River Driver's Shirts in Large Tall over many years. I bought 2 XL Reg last year, and was delighted with the slightly roomier fit. This year I bought 2 more, and found that the sleeve length barely fits, and the fabric is thinner. Seems like they're being made differently. I've always relied on Bean's sizing to be consistent, and that is simply not the case this year.

Good quality material. After I wash and dryed it the collar wrinkled more than i expected. It needed ironing.

I have been happily buying these for several years. They were originally crew neck, which I love. Now, however, LL Bean has decided to only make them in Henleys, which I dislike, so I stopped buying them, hoping you would start making the originals again. You haven't. I bought a couple of them, because they are great sweaters even though the style is not. Buttoned up, they look uptight. Left open, they look sleazy. The original sweater was a crew neck. Please consider making those again.

I like the style and it is warm. I am disappointed that it contains wool and can't be put in a dryer, must dry flat.

Why is there no women's version of this shirt? LLBean only carries henleys for women that are flimsy, thin cotton, and not warm. A men's small doesn't fit a women's body... Please make these for us too!

I joined LLBean community a couple years ago and have been very satisfied with quality of the products (so far more than 20 items purchased). But for this item, maybe it is a defect. It feels like .. sandpaper like some of reviews pointed out. Hopefully this is just a singularity and I still have my trust with LLBean. The bright spot with the purchase is that, the return process is straightforward and very easy. I am very impressed.

I have no idea why LL Bean has chosen to stop offering the crewneck version. It has been a beloved staple for years. I've bought 6 of them over the years and love every one of them, especially the color variety. Since I had no choice, I bought 1 of the henleys to try. After a few wears & washes, the henley ended up with a wrinkled crinkled bacon neck, not a good look when wearing as an outer layer and just uncomfortable around my neck. Plus, the henley neck seam / buttons result in a visible mis-shapen lump under my neck when wearing as an under layer. The crewneck had a neat clean profile along with its superb warmth. In comparison, the henley looks and feels like lumpy, ill-fitting long underwear. Yes, it's still warm. I will be looking to other manufacturers from now on. Disappointed.

I have probably been buying the River Driver's Shirt since about 1980. Before the current purchase, it's probably been 10 years since I bought my last one. This one is a good fit, comfortable, but it doesn't seem to be quite as thick as one's I've bought in the past. I wonder if the fabric formulation has changed.

It is recommended that this shirt not be put in the drier. It is also rather long if you do not like to tuck it in.
