I had to purchase the large to allow for a little "gut" so I have to tuck the shirts in.Other than that they're ok. Material is a little stiff.

Gifted the Tall XL to my 6'2" son per the sizing chart but it was way way too long. Apparently, you need to be BIG and Tall for this size to work.

I have been wearing these shirts for many years, and this has always been my favorite shirt. The shirt I purchased recently, however, seems to have changed in construction. For some reason, the outer fabric looks slightly puckered after washing, like it needs ironing. I have never had to iron any of my previous shirts, and don't plan to start now. Upon inspection the inner fabric looks different from my previous shirts so this may have something to do with the rumpled look.

According to chart med should have been perfect, it fits like a glove , licra spandex , no drying for this shirt, no sending back he won't give it up.

Warm and comfortable, but shrinks in length so significantly that at 5'11", I will have to order a "tall" rather than the regular that I'm wearing.
Even with shrinkage, arms, chest and body fit well, still.

Love the fabric and quality but even a small man's shirt is too big for me. I'd love one for women

These are certainly useful shirts, unlike any we've had before with the dual materials. While I appreciate the warmth of the wool, I have to say these shirts do not live up to their reputation of yesteryear. They aren't the same shirt that's been described by long time Bean fans. The wool is somewhat lesser quality than expected, and the cotton is definitely not what I'd call soft. As with quite a few former classic Bean products, the classics do not live on as before. Not a fan of executive decisions made to move the company forward, unfortunately by leaving behind the highest quality it once stood forthe difference in plushness & quality of fabrics is undeniable. It's a good shirt, but not great.

LL Bean used to make these shirts, as well as long johns, for women as well as men. I still have one of these amazing shirts from the 80s or 90s. It is hands down the best layer for cold camping nights. I was so disappointed when LL Bean stopped making these in a women's cut and sizing. LL Bean, PLEASE bring these shirts back for women.

I was surprised that after washing this shirt, it was rough and itchy. It was also wrinkly. Guess I expected more from an LL Bean product. It also shrank a little bit.

The garment kept you warm on cool and cold days but I found that the collar after washing didn't give a smooth flat appearance around the neck. The appearance was more of a bunched up disheveled look. Also, the fit was slightly tighter for my size.

Even when their suppliers mess up, llbean service is 5+ stars customer service. USUALLY dependable quality/ sizing, fit. Not this time. Returned shirts. Only serged, no hem, 2 buttons- 3rd?, thin fabric for a driver shirt, a bit sloppy fit in chest, but a collectable color.

Not as nice as 100% Cotten Henleys. Collars don't lay flat after washing (they curl) and stitch work is not as good. But they are comfortable. However I would not buy again.

Was excited about this shirt until I got it. Not worth the money paid for it. It's scratchy and the length shrank when it was washed. I purchased a tall and it now it exposes my mid section. Disappointing!

This shirt is OK. It looks pretty good, but the fabric is a lot lighter in weight than the regular knitted Henley shirts that I usually buy, this shirt was more like a Henley T-shirt. For the money (same price), I'd rather have the heavier knitted Henley. I returned this shirt.

this year's River Driver shirt differs from those I bought over the last 10 years and I do not like the changes:
Shirt is longer than before. I prefer the old length.
Material feels different; layers were more differentiated before.
On the positive side, warmth provided by shirt is equal to the old ones.

This shirt was purchased as a gift to my son who had already purchased the shirt in another color and liked it.

I have worn these shirts for years. The outside layer was wool. The inside layer was cotton. Now the outside layer has a small percentage of wool blended with polyester. It is a downgraded cheaper version of the original.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my son. The fabric is nice and the quality is good, but it is so long in the body that we have to return it. My son tried it on, untucked, and the bottom (which is not hemmed, just overstitched) came down several inches below his crotch, so he would not have been able to wear it tucked in even if he wanted to, and it just looks weird (he described it as "comically long.") He is not short-waisted. Disappointed that we have to return it.

Not something you can just throw in the wash; requires "sweater-like "care.

This shirt fit to tight in the chest and arms and the cuffs had an odd fix, for me it was a little on the scratchy side I hope that improves with wear

Compared with the River Driver Shirt I bought a couple of years ago, this time it ran small and material wasn't as substantial. Had to return it for a larger size.

This shirt is not as heavy as I expected. It did not wash well at all. I have to say I am a bit disappointed for the price and considering it is LL Bean.

I wanted to buy this for him for years, finally did this Christmas, not happy with the craftsmanship. The side seam wrapped around to the front like the quality of a big box store, not the quality I would expect from LL Bean. He has worn it on two occasions in a week so it is most likely comfortable. Quality control please!

I have always worn these in an XL tall for years. I had to return the new one and get a regular large. The sleeves are still very long and the shirt still a little big. But I like the color so I kept it. Why the change?
